Modifications and Innovations
On this page are some of the modifications and ideas we
have come up with for the Kiwi and for our tow vehicle.
Brake Controller Installation
Our tow vehicle is a 2001 Ford F150 Supercrew with the factory towing
package. When I was deciding on a brake controller, I selected the
Tekonsha Prodigy Brake Controller
One problem with the F150 is finding a convenient, level spot to install the controller.
The cover for the fuse box makes a great place for the controller.

Shelves
We love the large wardrobe in the Kiwi 23B, but when you hang clothes in there,
it seems as if there is a lot of wasted space. We decided to put shelves in one side of the wardrobe,
one for each of us. Now we have a great place for storing folded clothing while we travel.
I made these from pre-fab shelving I bought at Lowes for about $4 per shelf.
They are a foot wide and four feet long. I used two of them to cut out shelves that were 19 inches long,
and the other two were kept as is to become the supports. I made the dadoes for the shelves using my table saw and
a stacked dado head cutter, but a router would work as well. The shelves are made of Medium Density
Fiberboard with a nice oak veneer. Yes, that is my finger in the picture on the left.
