Lenin@Sun is a personal-driven initiative in
re-designing my web page which I first created
back in 1997. This was done in order to ensure
adherence to Sun's common SWAN (Sun Wide
Area Network) internal websites.

This intiative will hopefully deliver e-business
efficiencies for key audiences, such as:

Internal Sun employees
SWAN customers
SWAN business associates
External customers

Although this is a personal website, SMI-wide policies
and guidelines have strictly been followed. Promotion
of Sun Microsystems, re-designed navigation, and
ease-of-use have all been implemented for
everyone's convenience.

Why is Sun engaging in a unified look and
feel branding effort?

The initiative began in late 1998, under the
guidance of SMI Corporate Marketing, to
accomplish:

A common look and feel for all
SWAN-internal websites.
A professional interface very similar to that on
Sun's external site, http://www.sun.com/. This is
in preparation for the expansion of SWAN-internal
sites to e-Commerce partnered "extranets",
"partner nets", etc.
Faster loading for field personnel and slower network
connections on the SWAN. The late-1998 template
was 98 percent HTML, with only two small graphic
files - it was therefore "lightweight" and would
load quickly.
Faster access to the SWAN and desktops
via sun.net.
