Employment History
presently working at AINCO-Interocean
1996 University of East Anglia, Norwich
Employed by the university to write papers from my thesis.
1990 - 1991 Chantrey Vellacott Chartered Accountants, London
Trainee Accountant, duties included assisting managers on various assignments and dealing with client problems. Left in 1991 to return to full time education.
I have held down many temporary jobs during my undergraduate studies and have also demonstrated several classes in Oceanography and Mathematics, including lengthy field courses.
Interests
Ballroom and Latin Dancing (member of UEA Dance team), Fencing (member of the UEA Sabre team), Weight and Fitness training, Swimming, Drawing, Kung Fu (President of the Wing Chun Kung Fu Club in Newcastle), Squash and Badminton (member of Newcastle University Badminton Team). I have also been the treasurer of the Viking and Dark Ages Banqueting Society !
Relevant Experience
During the last four years I have taken part in one two week cruise in the North Atlantic ('96) as part of the Eurofloat project on board the D'Entrecasteaux deploying MARVOR floats, two six week cruises (ADOX I and II) in the Southern Ocean ('93 and '94) on the R.R.S. Discovery, where I was involved in the collection and associated processing of ADCP, CTD, XBT, TSG and Bottle data, and a single eight day cruise (JONUS) in the North Sea ('94) assisting with the collection of CTD and bottle data. My Ph.D. research involved the interpretation of hydrographic data from the two ADOX cruises as well as looking at historical data and results from the Fine Resolution Antarctic Model. In 1994 I attended the Cambridge summer school in Fluid Dynamics.
I am familiar with various computing environments (VAX, UNIX and PC's) all of which are used in my work. I have used FORTRAN and also have programming experience with PASCAL and BASIC. I also use several other software packages in my work, the main ones being MATLAB, PSTAR (data processing) and WORD (word processing). I set up and now maintain AINCO´s as well as my own Web sites. I have had various demonstrating experience with undergraduate students. I am currently attending classes to improve my Spanish.
