Tourism
is Guam's leading industry,
with more than half our visitors coming from Japan.
According to the Guam Department of Commerce,
tourist arrivals have grown consistently from less
than 400,000 in 1985 to over 1 million in 1996.
Since 1989, tourism has contributed over $10 million
to the economy in hotel occupancy taxes alone,
reaching a peak of over $18 million in 1992.
Here you see a tourist family spending
their day collecting souvenirs at one
of our most popular sites, Ypao (e-pow) Beach.
