Visit me! Say hello while you're there!

I'm not a guitar player, I'm a singer! I'm sorry about any mistakes.

The basics of this song aren't difficult to learn. The strumming patterns are sometimes complex and some of Dave's picking patterns are hard to learn but are fairly easy to play once you know them. Listen to the CD!

Click here to read about TAB updates! Thanks Matt!

Thanks for the info, Nick! He says that the bass is played differently than this... I'll look into it! If anyone knows what Geoff really plays can you let me know?

TAB Lesson for beginners!

If you want to print this I'd suggest printing it straight off this page! The TABs are in .gif format (because I think the .html kind are ugly) and will not be saved with the copied page unless you specifically do it! Have fun.

Everything Is Automatic

Music by Matthew Good & David Genn and Lyrics by Matthew Good © 1997 emi april music (Canada) ltd./ dunharrow music / bridgeburner music (socan) & © 1997 Darktown Records

Guitar 1 - intro:

Guitar 2 - intro:

Guitar 1 - verses 1 & 2:
I'm not sure about this strumming pattern! Listen to the CD!

Guitar 2 - verses 1 & 2:
Same riff as intro - comes in half way through the verse.

Guitar 1 - choruses:
Let each chord ring until the next one. Big crunchy sound.

Guitar 2 - choruses:

Guitar 1 - bridges (out of chorus):
The first bridge is half as long as the second, just keep repeating the first four bars until the transition.
Both endings are shown. The first goes into the second verse and the second into the third verse.
The last time the bridge is played, at the end, it ends on the third bar (E ... D ... G ____ ). Let the last chord ring.

Guitar 2 - bridges (out of chorus):
The last bridge ends with the first two bars and then straight to a D (7 th fret on the G string).

Guitar 1 - verse 3 (Killed for fun...):
Repeat the first bar until the change, play the next bar once, then repeat the third bar until the bridge
comes in and then play the ending sections.

Guitar 2 - verse 3 (Killed for fun...):
Only the bars with something happening are shown here! Read the BAR notes above for placement.
(H) means harmonic (striking the note while barely touching the string above the 7th fret)
The note is an F#, it can also be played 14th fret on the high E string. The harmonic on the D string is very faint.

Bass line - intro & verses 1 & 2:
Bass follows Guitar 1 pattern for the intro. (Not consistantly.)
Bass comes in BAR 9 (...possibly with Drums in BAR 8)

Bass line - choruses:

Bass line - bridges:
Again, the last time through the bridge ends on the G! (3rd fret E string)

Bass line - verse 3:
