What's going down on the way up...

The Cyberdelic Future!
Welcome to 2001.  Isn't this a cool space odyssey?  Of course the band wastes no time:

1/01: Many apologies to all fans over in Japan - the short 3-show tour was cancelled at the very last minute due to visa problems.  The band was really looking forward to it, and is planning to return at some point to make up for it.

1/01: 'Titans' on NBC was cancelled.  A vigilant BBVD fan reported seeing our boys' ep. back in *December*, so it did air.  Unfortunately, since the show didn't even run a full season, there's almost zero chance of it being rerun.

1/01: BBVD.com is getting updated, one piece at a time.  It's a big job, so keep checking back for new stuff all the time.

1/01:  On January 15, 2001, the band will make a guest appearance on the NBC show, 'Titans'.  Check local listings for airtimes, as this show is possibly being moved to another night, so the airdate might change as well.

In the year 2000....
Happy Y2K everyone!  As expected, BBVD kicked off the new millenium with a bang.  No sooner did that ball drop, did the guys hit the ground swingin'.  So far:

12/00:  BBVD.com is getting updated!  I swear!

12/00: BBVD will make an appearance on an upcoming episode of 'Blind Date'.  This is most likely a rerun from last year's event, but check your local listings for dates and times.

12/00:  On Monday, December 5th at 8pm EST, the BBVD horns will be chatting in a Yahoo!/Amuznet room. All five - that's Andy, Karl, Glen, Mike and Ron, are expected to attend.  We'll be discussing the Selmer contest, Japan, broccoli and Karl's bid for the 2004 presidency.  This is a public event, which means you don't have to be a club member to participate, but all the cool kids are members, so why aren't you?  To join the chat, go here Yahoo! Chat, and to join the club, go here: Yahoo!  BBVD Club .

7/00: just a note: while the band is away in the unknown regions of Europe, they won't be able to answer any email.  have no fear, as soon as they return, they'll attack the veritable flood that's already building up.

And remember when...?
'98 and '99 were busy years for BBVD!  Since making their major label debut on Coolsville, they tore up this joint we call North America.  In those months, they:

- Toured NONSTOP, hitting every city, venue and college across this great nation of ours, INCLUDING our neighbors up north in Canada.  Great eh? The schedule for 1999-2000 is up, so check it out!

- Did some funky things with their collective hair (check out their pics on the bio pagefor proof!)

- Did numerous radio shows at stations from coast to coast, including "What the Hell is This?" - the show that changes from week to week,, on Boston's WFNX. That week, Scotty hosted a playlist featuring the rebirth of swing and today's *best* neo-swing artists

- Battled the evil flu germs. Like the troopers that they are, performed anyway (check out their July '98 appearance on Late Night for proof of their stoicism).  Get them tea with lemon, stat!

- Made appearances on shows like "Late Night with Conan O'Brien", "The Tonight Show with Jay Leno" (twice), the "Roseanne Show", "Hard Rock Live" (with the Brian Setzer Orchestra), and numerous performances on "Live with Regis and Kathie Lee" (but we'll forgive them for that one), AND the 1999 Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade

- Were featured in 'swing' specials for VH-1, including a look at today's swing culture and a video block of today's swing videos hosted by Scotty.  Kurt, Glen and Scotty also appeared on MTV's '120 Minutes' to talk about the swing revival

- Were featured performers at the Kentucky Derby, the Orange Bowl AND the Super Bowl. Goooooooooal!!!

- Their first *major label* release, "Big Bad Voodoo Daddy" on Interscope went PLA-TI-NUM - that's ONE MEEEEELION copies.  How money is THAT?

- They did a photoshoot for Rollingstone, along with the
Cherry Poppin' Daddies, on swing fashion (and I would be remiss if I didn't mention how grrreat all *16* Daddies looked!)

- They were also featured in MusicHound Swing,  a guide to ALL swing, from past to present, and V Search's Swing! a look at the swing revival, which also includes an interview and commentary with and by Scotty.  You can find MusicHound's book at Amazon.com and V Search's book can be found at various bookstores.  Additionally, Scotty provided the forward and he and Glen gave *many* quotes to the brand new, "Swing Book", which you can pick up at Tower Records and Amazon.com

- On March 13, 1999, the boys won "Outstanding Swing Album" at the California Music Awards, aka the 'Bammies'.  Take *that* MTV!

- Welcomed a few new members into the Big Bad Voodoo Daddy family - looks like we're gonna need another bus!

-'This Beautiful Life' is out!! Swing by your local tienda de musica and grab it!  Or better yet, head on over to Amazon.com and do some good while listening to some killer tunes!

- The new website is up too!  Check out new pics, new tourdates and the brand new Voodoo Daddy tour journal.  There's also an email addy you can use for questions, comments and hair care tips for Scotty.

 - Speaking of the website, alas, the old BBVD site is sloooooowly dying.  You can still get to the lyrics and clips part from the new site, but that's about it.

- The new tour and stage show was kicked off on Friday, October 1, 1999, at Foxwoods Casino in Connecticut - Go here for all the juicy details (pics up too!)

- Missed them due to alien abduction (the ONLY excuse)?  The new tour schedule is just getting started and is rumored to included a short jump to Europe.  Bienvenidos Los Voodoo Daddies!

- You can still find copies of the 'Matchbook' cd - their single, featuring "You and Me...", "Minne the Moocher" and "Jumpin' Jack" in stores - pick 'em up before they disappear forever!

- Starting Monday, August 9, 1999, all BBVD merch will be discounted, to make way for all the new stuff. Swing over to their site for some threads on the cheap!  Be on the lookout for the *new* stuff to debut soon

- "Mambo Swing" has just been released as a single over in Europe.  You can get a company at  Amazon.com for about $15 (including shipping and handling).  Places like the Virgin Megastore may also carry it.
