Fred and the Thompson Twins

Ok guys, here's my story!

In 1985, I went to see the Thompson Twins play in my area. I was watching a video of theirs in which people showed up early, maybe to get to meet them; so I decided to do that. It was November and cold when I got there, and the bus pulled up. Alannah and Joe got off the bus, but Tom was already inside; so I got an autograph and asked if someone could get Tom's autograph for me.

Then in 1988, while I was driving home listening to the radio, I heard that they were gonna be at the station the next day for a interview. I ditched work, and went down to the station to see them. Tom asked me if i was coming to the show, and I said "Yes." I was wearing a vest I'd made, and it had all of their buttons that were avaiable in the US, so they called me "The Button Girl." After the interview, they were going to another station. I ran downstairs, went outside to say goodbye again, and Tom asked if i wanted to go with them. I did, so I sat in a limo next to Tom Bailey and thought I was gonna faint! After that they had to leave...

So anyway, on their last tour (boo hoo) I went to Wisconsin. A friend and I made a banner of the cover of their last album. We got there earlya and waited outside; and when they got there, they remembered me. I had one of those big cookies made and gave it to them, so they let us in to see the sound check, and got us backstage. When we were talking to them afterwards, I had asked Alannah, since they were doing a show on my birthday, would she get me in if I got out there? She said "Yes," so when my birthday came around, I went out to Arlington, Texas. I had two tickets into the park (they played Six Flags) and I had two tickets into the show. After the show was over, I told a security guard who I was, he radioed backstage, and I heard the reply "Is she from Chicago?" I said "Yes," and I went backstage. Alannah told me that she was "with child." Afterwards, I asked where they were going next, and if i could go with them. I had to ride with the guy selling t-shirts and a girl taking photos, but I went to Atlanta, Georgia; Sunshine, Florida; and Melbourne, Florida. After it was over, I was talking to the bus driver. I had a problem getting home, so he made a few calls. He had family in the airline business, and he got me a $49 flight home from Nashville, and he drove me there in the tour bus (I got a few souveniers from the bus).

I had met this girl in Wisconsin that was from California, and that is when I had decided I was going to follow the Thompson Twins on their next tour. Well that never happened, because they dont tour anymore and changed their name to Babble. That's the reason why I've decided to follow Weird Al's tour!

Anyway, sorry this was so long guys, but that is my story... Thanx for reading!
