'Greener Pastures'

Fallow fields once vibrant green

Conceal men's graying flesh unseen

No romance in this vacant field

No laughter will it ever yield

Under azure cloudless skies

Frail breath of spring withers, dies

Then with night's unfolding mantle

The breeze remembers gasp and rattle

Cursed shadows flee the rising moon

These hapless souls condemned to ruin

Companion to a league of worms

Their earthly bodies come to term

No guarantees found in the womb

You're on your own from birth to tomb

No one comes to take you home

Face it! We all die alone
