I want my independance
But occasionally, please take charge.
I am an emotional creature,
Counter-balance me with your analytical thoughts.
I sacrificially pour out all of myself,
I need someone to single-mindedly invest in me.
I want recognized for my mind,
But I want to know I can seduce any.
I can be insecure and full of fear,
Yet self-sufficient and bravely face danger.
I will not tolerate unwanted advances,
But I desire to be forcefully swept away.
I can be the ultimate nurturing force,
But my anger lays waste entire communities.
I am known as an eternal victim,
Yet I have changed history time uncounted.
I can be grounded in reality
While I walk in romantic fantacies.
One Choice In Time

Life is an outcome
Of previous choices.
Roads chosen, friendships forged,
Relationships bonded and dissolved,
Careers picked and changed,
Arguments started - settled or not.
Of all life's choices,
Is there just one
Between hidden happiness and dread?
Forever life changing - good or bad?
Just one instance in time?
One moment's decision?
Looking at time's cinema
Can you pinpoint the hour, the minute?
Was it a word spoken, an action, an emotion?
Would you step back to alter personal history?
But - you are a result of your past.
Change one prior instance and
Change who you are at the last.
Emotional Scars

It is said the bruises don't show
But the wounds are deeper.
Words that haunt and beat down
No apology can heal.
Time can soothe the grief of loss,
but not the gaping holes
Shot through the delicate phsyche.
Bitterness and anger have caused
Loss of life, not from bullets or knife
But angry thoughts and shouts.
There is no legal punishment -
No clear decree of justice.
The victims are as certainly dead,
From hidden brutality and strife.
The Battle of Life

We value this but work against it.
We know better, yet do it willingly.
We desire what we will hate in the having.
We can't change some things -
But those are paramount in our heart.
We burn for the one person that
Our compromising will mar the desireable.
We can choose our responses in self-control
But we acquiece to ever changing emotional tides.
Oh, what peace to have alies
Between mind and heart
Rather than age old adversaries.
What blissful rest to have
The two working in tandem.
No more lost sleep,
Rather gain of sage wisdom.
No more pinning and hand-wringing,
But savoring the journey of life.
