Duke Reid
(Label)
early 1960s:
Duke Reid established during his early career three labels to print his self produced tracks.

1970ff:
Later Trojan Records (also a name based on Duke Reid, namely his sound system) used the label in the UK to publish more Duke Reid.
"Not a particularly prolific label (there were only around 20 issues) but a real powerhouse all the same. The label featured the cream of it's namesakes productions from 1970/71. The imprint was used until 1973 but it is the issues from the first couple of years of its existance that demand attention. Most notable are the DJ sides by U Roy; all the classics that took Jamaica by storm in 1970 saw UK issue on this label, including "Wake The Town", "Wear You To The Ball", "Tom Drunk", "On The Beach", "You'll Never Get Away" and so on.

The illustrated label is "Boom Shacka Lacka" a massive hit for Hopeton Lewis. The flip side is the equally superb instrumental cut on the same rhythm - "Dynamite" credited to Tommy McCook." (Quelle: Dance Crasher Home Page)
