"Gnonnas Pedro, Africando's faithful
Sancho Pansa, narrates "Hwomevonon", holding his earnest pronouncements
to the throbbing beat with a sing-song intonantion that recalls both his
compatriot Angelique Kidjo and the fetish priests of old Aboney. The chorus
slips into an incantatory mode reminiscent of the mystical chants of Santeria,
Cuba's African religion, whose gods originate among the Fon and Yoruba
people of Pedro's homeland Benin." (Mark Hudson)
