Summary Profile

I am a quick learning, friendly person with excellent communication skills, always willing to speak my mind but remain open to new ideas and opinions. I work effectively either individually or as part of a team, considering the views of others. I have a great interest and experience in programming, with a logical mind, and I am very keen to learn new technologies. I am both punctual and composed when working under pressure to meet deadlines and my time working for Microsoft and Liberate has matured me as a person.

Work Experience

Two Way TV, London:

Games Developer

2000-Present

At this interactive TV games development company in Kensington, it is my role to use JavaScript and HTML to produce games for the Liberate platform of digital TV Set-Top-Box used by NTL/Telewest. This entails working with graphics, and programming the underlying functionality to produce fully working, multi-player, pay-per-play quiz games.

Liberate Technologies, London

Applications Developer

        2001

On a six-month contract, using JavaScript/HTML and working as part of a three-man team, through research and discussions on communication between client and server architectures, I developed a series of cutting edge, experimental applications. From this, I also gained a greater understanding of Liberate’s DTV platform used for set-top boxes in interactive TV.

Essex County Council, Chelmsford:

Network Admin Assistant

  1999-2000

This temporary job included NT and Exchange administration for the Council and solving problems raised by schools. It required a great deal of communication in a calm manner due to the number of schools within Essex and the urgent problems they encountered. I feel this was useful in gaining a different perspective of IT than my usual programming viewpoint.

Microsoft, Reading:

Internal Tools Administrator

  1998-1999

The job role was to maintain, update and provide support for mission critical tools for Microsoft Consulting Services. This directly gave me skills in Visual Basic and Visual Basic for Applications as well as Access and SQL. I also gained a greater understanding of the repercussions involving Y2K issues through participating in discussions and helping identify problematic projects. The role regularly involved human interaction to either provide help or discuss improvements/problems with the tools and their usage; this greatly improved my communication skills and maturity. Over time I gained an understanding of the business and work environment, and soon realised the importance of deadlines and time management.

Interests and Hobbies

I enjoy most sports and play football occasionally. I belong to two snooker/pool clubs and therefore play quite regularly, and enjoy racquet sports when weather permits. I also use my own computer for both work and recreation. I often watch films at the cinema or home and like to try different restaurants. At the end of last year, I went to Australia for a month.
