Terry Murphy is the lead singer of Gang O'Kids. Drummer Dave Seiler, a long-time friend, collaborated as well as Nat Gardiner, guitar, keyboards, to form the nucleus of the band. Brian Swisher was found by Gardiner and was asked to join and Gang O'Kids was born. After years of working together, a demo, and a CD under their belt, Gang O'Kids has had to close up shop. Terry has relocated to Washington State (see below for update), and Brian relocated to Colorado (also see below for update). We don't think of Gang O'Kids as being gone for good, just on an extended hiatus. Gang O'Kids has been a great time for both Terry and Brian over the years, and Dave and Nat are, and will remain, great friends. All of us want to thank everyone for being there over the years for us. We are going to keep this page up and running and you're free to download the MP3's below. If the opportunity ever presented itself, we'd love to even be able to pull off a future gig. We hope you enjoy these pages as well as the sound bites and hopefully, the CD. In 2005, Brian Swisher RE-relocated BACK to the state of New Jersey. To follow that up, on June 1st, 2006, Terry Murphy ALSO RE-relocated back to the great state of New Jersey. Discussions have taken place about (at the very least) a reunion jam session. There are also VERY preliminary disussions about doing a "reunion" type show as a one-time event. Brian Swisher is a full-time father now and has obvious priorities at this point, and Terry's return also brings along certain obligations that may limit the amount of time that he can dedicate to a band.........but nonetheless, nothing has been ruled out at this point. STAY TUNED!!!!
Gang O'Kids has a song included in the independent film, "Van Vorst Park". The Gang O'Kids version of Nights On Broadway (yes, the song playing in the loop when you opened this page) was chosen for the film's soundtrack. The film opened at the Atlantic Film Festival in Halifax, Nova Scotia, Canada and followed up with a showcase in Jersey City, NJ, and was featured at the Big Apple Film Festival in New York City (attended by my girlfriend Jean), where it won Best Screenplay. I saw the film at the Whistler Film Festival in Whistler, British Columbia, Canada on 12/03/2005. Whistler is about an hour and a half north of Vancouver, and while waiting for the film's showing, I met with the writer/lead actor in the film, Paul Dunleavy. supporting actor P.J. Leonard, and director Kathy Cacicedo. They all took me in with them and we all viewed the film together as a group. I appreciated their hospitality, and they really made me feel like part of the film itself. Thanks guys!!

The scene in which the Gang O'Kids song plays is near the end of the film. The lead character, Johnny DeCarlo (Dunleavy) is trying to find out who the "rat" is who has been giving information to the cops. While questioning his guys in the back room of their hangout, the song plays as this group of "friends" meets. There is a lot of distrust in the room, which is indicated by the first line of the song, "Here we are.....in a room full of strangers..." It's an excellent use of the song by Musical Supervisor, Rob O'Mara, who scored the film.
Like I said, if you get a chance to take part in a film festival, please support this film.

Because of the relocation of Terry and Brian, we were trying to put together a final show. It was going to be a reunion of sorts, with a lot of people Terry had been in bands with over the years, coming up to jam with us. But, as fate would have it, Dave injured his hands in a car accident and that ended that idea. But we want to thank everyone who has always come out over the years, as well as the guys who were going to participate in this event. The CD's have sold out.
