"Ready to roll?" Barbara asked as Jessy headed to catch her school bus. "Roll where Momma?" Jessy asked looking around for the car. "Well the boys are heading up north for the summer and instead of pouting about it...'Sometimes I wonder what I'm gonna do, 'Cause there ain't no cure for the summertime blues. Well I'm a-gonna raise a fuss, I'm gonna raise a holler, About workin' all summer just to try an' earn a dollar. Sometimes I wonder what I'm gonna do 'Cause there ain't no cure for the summertime blues.'" her mother answered breaking into song. "Come on Momma. People can hear you. Why do you do this to me?" Jessy complained as her busdriver joined her mother in song. Soon everyone had joined in singing 'Summertime Blues'. "So Jessy's Mom, what's up?" Brian asked as the singing stopped. "As I was trying to tell Jessy, with the boys gone for the summer and I have to work to earn a dollar. I've decided to drive semi this summer so we can travel and see the country. Found this guy who contracted some sort of tour. We're heading to the middle, then hitting the northern states before traveling down the western coast, across the south, up the eastern coast, across to here and back to the middle of nowhere as he put it." Barbara explained. "Man I want to go." Brian whined. "Sorry it's girls only in this rig." Barbara explained pointing down the street at the metallic purple Mack. On the door in pink script was the words 'Mother Of Jessy'. "It says 'Jessy' on the passenger door." Barbara added. "Really Momma? We're going to travel the whole country?" Jessy asked. "Yeppers as sis would say. Speaking of Sis, she's joining us in about a week. We have to go Jessy so say your goodbyes and meet me in the rig." Barbara said taking her backpack and heading down the street. As Jessy climbed in, Barbara fired it up and they were off. "We have to load up in Chicago then to Tulsa for the rest of the load and then we head south. "Tulsa? What on earth is in Tulsa?" Jessy asked. "Don't know if it said. The Route Instructions are right there. Someone put an awful lot of thought into this tour. They already plotted the route and times to drive, breaks and everythng." Barbara answered pointing at a large envelope. On the trip to Chicago, Jessy read the instructions aloud and highlighted all their free time. While they waited in Chicago to be loaded, the two found a Coffee Shop with computer access and checked out things to do during their free time. "Good thing you thought of this. We just got the last room at that amusement park you wanted to go to." Barbara explained as she hung up the phone. "Wish we didn't have to work at night. We could probably catch a few concerts but most of them start 7, 7:30, 8 at the latest and we aren't done until then. What exactly will we be doing?" Jessy asked. "Not sure. I just know that we're expected to lift 35 pounds." Barbara answered. "Is that all? What do I do with the rest of my fingers and the other hand?" Jessy chuckled. "I don't know. When he mentioned 35, I wasn't about to tell him we could hoist a 50 pound bale in each hand and toss one a country mile." Barbara declared with a laugh. They headed back to the rig and dialed the number to let them know they were loaded and headed to Tulsa. "We should be there around 10pm. Should we check in or wait for the morning?" Barbara asked. "Well he said to fin the Performing Arts Center then call this number and they'll come load us so we can head out first thing in the morning. He's thrilled we're starting ahead of schedule." she shared when she hung up. "So who is that is thrilled?" Jessy asked. "I didn't think to ask." Barbara answered as Jessy picked up the paperwork on the load and started reading. "Hmmm it appears we're carrying musical instruments. So you think we're touring with a band?" Jessy asked. "Tulsa? A Band? Man I hope it's not Bluegrass. Please don't let it be Bluegrass. Maybe it's Rock 'n Roll." Barbara answered. "Tulsa? Rock n' Roll. I don't think so. It's got to be country. What else is there in the Middle of Nowhere?" Jessy replie. "Country huh. You know I think Garth Brooks is from Tulsa." Barbara suggested. "Garth Brooks! Really?" Jessy squealed. "I think so. I really don't know much about Tulsa except Chris and Delaine lived there while Chris worked on that message relay system for Lucent Technologies." Barbara admitted. "In Tulsa? They have phones then." Jessy replied and they both laughed. Before long, "That's the exit. Wow sure is a pretty skyline huh?" Jessy said looking at the city in the distance. "Yeah it is. Who'd expect
