Wish That I Was There

Part Seven

First thing the next morning, Zac introduced Dougie to his family and it was a unanimous decision to hire him as a body guard. "Hey babe." Zac greeted as Jessy and his Grampa entered the front door. "Morning Zac." Jessy replied pecking him on the cheek before she greeted the rest of the family, "Dougie! Did you get the job?" Jessy asked when she noticed him. "Yes Jessy. Mr. Hanson here was just telling me all my responsibilities. I get to watch you on tour." Dougie shared. "Great. I won't worry now, I'll be so safe with you keeping an eye on me. Thanks Daddy, you've made such a good choice." Jessy said hugging Walker. "Sweetie you don't have to thank me. The way Dougie spoke of you, I new it was meant to be." Walker said kissing the top of her head. They ate breakfast, discussing the upcoming tour. After Dougie left the family loaded up, making their way to church. "Dear do you notice something different about Zac and Jessy?" Diana questioned. "I was thinking the same thing but I can't put my finger on it Diana." Walker answered her question. "Hmmmm." Diana continued to wonder. "Hey how did you do that?" Jessie asked watching Jessy fold a note she had written her. "It's a piece of cake. We came up with it so if our notes got nabbed by one of the guys, we could tell if they read it. No way can they fold it back they're all thumbs." Jessy answered and showed her how. 'i am not all thumbs." Zac whispered, his hands all over her suddenly. "No, not you, you're all hands." Jessy moaned into his ear as he caressed her belly. "I can't help myself. I love you Jessy." Zac whispered caressing her face, then kissing her deeply. "Cool church Zac. How old is it? I love the stone work." Jessy asked gazing out the window, leaning over Jessie. Once out of the van she made a beeline for the building just gazing at it. "Jessy wait. Jessy." Zac called after her. "I'm sorry hun." Jessy replied making her way back to him, hugging him and kissing his cheek. "Babe I want you to meet some of my friends." Zac asked. "Sure hun." Jessy answered extending her hand. Zac took her hand in his and led her back towards all the people. "Man Zac, there's so many of them and they're all staring at me."Jessy said slowing her pace so that Zac was now dragging her."Where's the fire? Can't wait to sacrifice me to the natives huh?" Jessy whispered stopping Zac in his tracks as he started to laugh. "What's so funny? There's lots of them." Jessy pouted. "Oh baby, you're so funny." Zac said still laughing. "Hey Jessy. Remember me?" Kenny asked. "Hey Kenny. Yep I remember you." Jessy replied as he introduce three more friends, who introduced friends, and so it went. "Jessy. You look beautiful today, where's Zac?" Ash asked. "Hey Ash." Jessy said kissing his cheek and hugging him, then finishing, "I don't know where he is. He fed me to the masses here and then ditched me." "Poor baby. I'll save you." Ash said wrapping his arms around her then looking for Zac, spying him in the distance hugging an old friend. When his hand got a little too familiar, "I'll take care of myself, if you don't mind." Jessy insisted her body stiffening from his touch. "Jessy I'm sorry. I didn't mean anything by it." Ash defended his action. "So you grope everybody huh?" Jessy asked backing away from him, glaring at him. "You what? What did you do?" Taylor demanded to know staring at Ash first then turning to Jessy. The questions in his eyes did nothing for Jessy's self esteem and right before his eyes she changed from a confident young woman defending her honor to just a shell, embarassed, insecure, and guilty. "He..." is all she got out, pointing at Ash before she turned back to Taylor and the look of doubt in his eyes caused her to bolt, racing away. "Jessy dear, what's the matter?" Walker asked of the terror he saw in her eyes, watching her hide her face from him and continue on. "Zachary." he called out, searcing the crowds for him. "Yeah Dad." Zac answered. "What's wrong with Jessy?" Walker asked. "She's fi..." Zac started to reply but when he looked for her, he only saw the look on Ash's and his brother's faces "Jessy." he called out making his way to where she was last. "What? What's up and where's Jessy?" Zac demanded to know. "I can't bring myself to tell you it's disgusting. Zac I'm sorry, I think she ran because of me. I didn't mean to but I think she thought I blamed her and she ran. I don't blame her Zac, it's all his fault and no one else's." Taylor said glaring at his best friend. "What happened. Somebody tell me." Zac demanded to know impatiently, turning back to his father he mouthed, "Where? Where is she?" as he made his way to him. Walker searched for her, "There she is in your grandfather's arms." he announced, sending Zac scrambling to them. "Is she okay?" he mouthed when he neared and his heart broke at the pain in his Grampa's eyes as he shook his head no. "You okay babe?" Zac whispered stroking her hair then wrapping his arms gently around her. "Zac." Jessy whimpered turning in his arms crying all over again. "Sssh babe, it'll be okay. I love you Jessy." Zac whispered over and over as he held her close and slowly rocked her until she quieted. "Zac.. he thinks... I, I didn't Zac." is all she got out before crying all over again. "Jessy I'm sorry. I didn't mean to look like I blamed you. Ash is my best friend and I know what he's capable of. Jessy if you say he groped you, I believe you." Taylor insisted. "Hey Jessy. Man I'm so sorry. He makes me ashamed to be his brother when he acts this way. He was wrong. He had no right to touch you. He knows you love Zac and Zac loves you." Bobby said with such disgust Jessy couldn't help but look at him and see the shame on his face. "Bobby I don't blame you. I was a fool to trust him but after last night, I mean he was so cool about Zac and I. Oh I remember now." Jessy said suddenly looking at the floor as the anger grew inside her. "Baby what do you remember that's making you so angry." Zac asked pulling her back to his arms. "I was a fool Zac. I remember last night that creep I told you about. The one that made me sick to my stomach and so afraid. Zac I remember now, it was the same voice that called me Jessy. It was Ash." Jessy shared, adding, "I should have know not to trust him." "Jessy how can you say that. The way Ash acted towards you last night, sticking up for you, for us the way he did, of course, you would trust him." Zac explained. "I guess. He sure acted like a big brother would until just now." Jessy shared hugging him tight. "Jessy you're okay now. I won't let anything happen to you." Zac promised. "Where did you go? One minute you're introducing me to a gazillion new people and then you disappeared on me. I got scared, so many new faces. I guess I was so relieved to see someone I knew, I played right into his plan." Jessy asked. "This is all my fault. Jessy I'm sorry. I never should have left you alone. Forgive me baby?" Zac apologized as Walker called everyone to go in and Jessy made a beeline to the family. "Jessy wait." Zac called as Jessy and Grampa headed in together. "Excuse me. Pardon me. Jessy wait. Please Jessy." Zac called out trying to reach her. "Ssshh! Zachary what do you think you're doing son?" Walker asked. "I'm sorry Dad, it's I just have to get to Jessy." Zac shared desperately. "Please son, quietly chase after her." Walker asked. "Sorry dad." Zac said continuing on his quest, watching as she sat next to his grandfather, picking up Zoe and holding her in her lap as Mackie sat beside her. Zac made his way down the pew, sitting down the other side of Mackie. "She pretty." Mackie said as Zac sat down. "Yeah she is little guy. Real pretty." Zac replied catching her eye. The pain he saw there terrified him. "Jessy I'm sorry for whatever I did. Jessy?" Zac whispered leaning over Mackie. "Zac, ssssh." Jessy replied. "Sweetie I know it's none of my business but what could be so bad?" Grampa whispered. "Oh Grampa." she sighed, cuddling against his shoulder, adding, "I'm not sure." "Sweetie is it what Ash did? Or that Taylor doubted you?" Grampa asked as she shook her head no as her eyes filled with tears. "Sweetie don't cry." Grampa said wrapping an arm around her. "Grampa can you take Zoe, I need to talk to Zac." Jessy whimpered. "Sure sweetie, come her my angel." Grampa said lifting Zoe to his lap. "Mackie sweetie can you change places with me so I can sit next to Zac?" Jessy asked. "Sure, you pretty." Mackie said loudly causing Jessy to smile as she pulled Mackie to her lap, hugging him then slid towards Zac before putting him down on the other side. "Jessy what is it? Tell me what I did? I'm sorry please just don't be mad at me, I can't handle it. I'd die if you hated me." Zac whispered as she slid closer. "I don't hate you Zac, never could." Jessy said gazing at him then smiling. "What then?" Zac asked as the services started. Jessy opened her purse and found paper and pen and began writing. "It has to be okay Jessy. Just tell me what to do?" Zac whispered into her ear as he wrapped his right arm around her, leaning his head on top of hers, reading as she wrote. "Zac why did you leave me? I didn't know anyone, they are your friends, not ours or mine. I panicked when I turned around and you were gone. At first I was relieved to see Ash, he said he'd help me find you. He did you know. That's when he said, "Well if he's going to be that way maybe you are too." and wrapped his arm around me, pulled me into him and ran his hand under my dress. I don't know what he saw, but I'm not that way Zac." Jessy wrote and before she lifted her hand from the last word, Zac reached for the pen and began writing. "No Jessy it wasn't anything like that. Ash was wrong and he knows she doesn't mean anything to me. She just wanted me to know that she was happy for me. She said you were pretty and looked nice and then she started crying. Maybe that's when Ash spotted us because I hugged her Jessy. She was hurting and she's a friend so I hugged her but I didn't cop a feel and wouldn't do something like that." Zac wrote then gazed at her for her reaction. "I know that Zac." Jessy whispered kissing his cheek before cuddling into his chest and reaching for the ink pen. She wrote, "Zac I know you wouldn't do anything like that. I was angry with Ash for thinking that of you and treating me like I was. I wanted to smack him so but I figure in front of a Church, don't push your luck girl. If I could have only found you instead of Tay, he only made things worse. At first I thought he was blaming me. Then I realized he knew Ash well enough to be afraid of what he'd pulled." As Jessy paused, Zac placed his hand over hers and moved the pen and they wrote, "I love you" together. They sat arm in arm throughout the rest of the services, writing I love you back and forth. At the end of the services, Grampa was thrilled they had worked through it. "Looks like you worked things out. I'm glad sweetie." Walker said hugging her. "I wasn't mad at Zac but I am not thrilled with the likes of Ashley Greyson." Jessy shared making her way back to Zac's arms. Walker introduced her to friends, leading her by the hand. "Jessy this is Mike and Donna and their daughter Sue. She's your age. She and Zac have been friends since we moved back to Tulsa I think." Walker introduced as Jessy wondered if she was te one. "Hey everybody. Lucky you. You got to follow their career from the start. Man I've got some real cute clips of the guys when they were awfully young. Sometimes I feel like I grew up with Zac too." Jessy said turning to Sue. "So you're a fan huh?" Sue asked. "Yep. That's how we met actually. I wrote him a fan letter and it caught his eye and then I caught his heart." Jessy shared. "You did. He said so earlier. I tried so hard to hate you. I should hate you, I should be with him. But he doesn't love me, he loves you and I'm happy for him. I should be angry but I can't. I hope we can be friends too. Zac and I have been friends forever I'd hate to lose him." Sue admitted. "I"m sorry for you but I am so happy for me, that it's me he loves." Jessy exclaimed as Zac approached them, "Dad, Mr and Mrs Miller. Sue." he said. "Forget who I was already huh?" Jessy teased. "Nah baby I remember you. You're the love of my life." Zac said in a deep, sexy, voice as he approached nearer and nearer until their lips touched and he kissed her deeply. "Hey if you guys will excuse us, I want to introduce Jessy to some other friends. Want to come Sue?" Zac asked. "Please do. At least I'll know someone." Jessy pleaded "Forget who I was already huh?" Zac teased. "Nah I remember you. You are the love of my life. My one and only true love." Jessy replied stepping into him, pressing her forehead to his, gazing into his eyes. "I love you." Zac shouted picking her up and twirling them as she wrapped her arms around his neck kissing him again and again as everyone stared. "Come on babe. I want you to meet my friends." Zac said taking her hand leading her off. "Come on Sue." Jessy asked extending her hand. "Sure why not." she replied and they joined friends, introducing Jessy. "Zac, Son. Bring Jessy were heading to lunch before she has to leave us." Walker called. "I can't believe you're going to leave me." Zac gasped hugging her desperately. "I have to Zac, you know that. Don't make me sorry I came. Please Zac, I love you so much but I have to go home. I have school." Jessy argued. "I know but I'm still going to miss you." Zac replied kissing her desperately. "We better go babe." he whispered as their lips parted. "I hope we can be friends too. Be his best friend like you always have been. Don't let his loving me, change that. He's going to need a friend when I leave him." Jessy asked turning to Sue as tears filled her eyes. "Sure Jessy. Write me too. I'd love a chance to get to know you. You have to be special, my best frend loves you." Sue answered hugging her tight. "Bye everybody. Hope to see you this summer." Jessy said turning quickly before she cried and raced off picking up Zoe as Walker placed an arm around them and headed her to the van. Lunch was unusually quiet, everyone on pins and needles about Jessy's leaving. To make matters worse, first fans interrupted their meal sending Jessy to the bathrooms to deal with a dose of reality. "You okay babe?" Zac asked as she exited. "Oh Zac. Man fans are pushy. For a minute I thought she was going to dump me out of my chair just to get at you. I thought you being a hottie was good thing. Now I'm not too sure." Jessy answered laughing as he wrapped his arms around her. When they returned to the table they were greeted by the press. "Is this her?" a reporter asked as his camera flashed. "Geez blind a person." Jessy complained as she turned towards Zac. "You're all right." he whispered wrapping her in his arms. "That answered that question." the reporter shared as they continued to take pictures. "Introduce her Zac?" they asked and Zac did just that. "Serious stuff. How did you manage to keep her a secret this long?" someone asked. "Just the way things happened. It wasn't planned." Jessy answered. "Can I ask that you leave my last name out of print for awhile. I'm going back to pulic school and I really don't want to cause a scene you know." Jessy explained, adding, "It never hurts to ask you know." "Well folks, you'll have to excuse us. We have so little time left together before she has to return home. I hope you understand." Walker explained and they made their way back to the Hanson's home. Once home, Jessy helped Diana in the kitchen, "No more. Sweetie I can handle it. It'll be a couple of hours before we eat, why don't you go find Zac and spend sometime together." Diana suggested. "Hmmm. I sent him out on his dirt bike. Tay. Tay." Jessy answered and called out. "Yeah Sis what you need?" Taylor asked coming down the stairs. "Can I borrow your dirt bike? I want to find Zac." Jessy asked. "You ride huh? Sure it's in the shed. Should be ready to go." Taylor answered as Jessy made a quick trip to the bathroom before heading to the shed. "Do you really think she knows how to ride?" Isaac asked as they watched her. "Most likely. Chele says she's a toughy and used to play with the guys all the time until puberty. I guess her guy friends all turned into jerks on her, trying to cop a feel, so she just quit playing with them." Taylor explained as Jessy rolled the bike out of the shed and fired it up. They watched as she put on the helmet and pulled on the leather jacket she'd found in the shed and was soon off after Zac. "That answers that question. She definitely can ride." Isaac said as Jessy was soon out of sight looking and listening for Zac. She followed his tracks having a blast on the course, getting some serious air over a couple of jumps. Jessy came to an intersection and laughed noticing Zac's spin marks. Zac watched from the top of a hill as the rider followed his lead and spun circles, laying the bike extremely low, "Great ride." Zac said as the rider finally stopped. Jessy was looking at the different trails trying to figure which way Zac had gone. Frustrated she took off her helmet, hoping to see a sign. "Jessy" Zac hollered from the top of the hill. "Zac?" Jessy called out not placing the direction of his voice. "Look up babe." Zac hollered and as she raised her eyes, she spied him and waved. "Wait there, I'll come get you" Zac hollered again. Jessy watched as he went off the hill in a dead drop and soon was making his way to her. "Babe you ride good." Zac said taking off his helmet. "Not like you. Man that's got to be a rush coming down that way." Jessy shared excitedly as he leaned towards her. "Shut up and kiss me." Zac demanded. "Talk about a rush." Jessy teased as she leaned towards him and their lips met with an all consuming desire. "Zac." she moaned putting her bike on the ground and moving closer. "Love me."she whispered as he wrapped his arms around her and pulled her closer. "I do babe. I love you more than I thought was possible. I was just thinking about you. Here I wrote you this while I was up there." Zac said pulling a paper from his pocket, adding, "I was going to give you it when you left, so when you got home and missed me... well anyway, here." "Jessy first and most important I love you. I loved you before we met, you're my best friend. You've been there for me so many times. I've told you things I haven't told anyone else. I was so happy when you answered yes when I asked you to be my girlfriend. I was so afraid I was going to lose everything that day. I had convinced myself you didn't think of me that way, only as a guy friend. Thank God I was wrong. Going with you without meeting you was a test. I worried so that we wouldn't click you know be attracted to each other. That morning you hit town and I didn't know it was you, I was so attracted. Now that I've held you in my arms, tasted your sweet kisses, I'm at peace, totally happy, contented. Even with all the success we've had, I haven't been truly happy until now. All I have to do is think of you. I close my eyes and remember the way you look at me, your blue eyes twinkling, a smile on your lips and suddenly everything is okay in my world. I'm writing because I want you to know that no matter how long it takes, someday we will be together. I know it doesn't seem that way now, you about to leave me and head home, leaving such an ache in my heart, but Jessy I close my eyes and you're there and everything is okay again. Until we're together again, remember I love you. Forever and a day, Zac." Jessy read with a few gasps and whole bunch of tears. Zac watched as she closed her eyes and suddenly a smile appeared as she heaved a big sigh, "Oh Zac it works, my heart stops breaking at the thought of being apart." Jessy confessed as she clutched the letter to her heart, adding, "But Zac I came to find you cuz Mom says we have an hour before lunch and I want to be with you." "I can handle that. Let's make some memories to help us get through." Zac said dropping his bike next to hers before taking her hand and leading her to the shade. Jessy unzipped her jacket and as she began to slip it off her shoulders, Zac helped her slip it off and laid it on the ground before unzipping his and laying it next to hers. Zac took her hands in his, kissed her sweetly before he lowered her to the ground. She sat watching as he returned to his bike and grabbed a water bottle and returned to her taking a drink. "Thirsty babe?" he asked offering the water bottle. "Yeah hun, thanks." Jessy answered taking a drink while Zac sat down next to her, wrapping his arm around her. He took the water bottle, leaned over her and placed it off to the side. As he returned to his space, "Zac?" Jessy asked. "Yeah Jessy." he answered. "You know you said you were attracted to me. Ummm I feel the same about you. Zac you've changed. I mean you were so cute and such a goof ball I couldn't help but love you but since, you know, man Zac you are a definite hottie." Jessy confessed turning red. "I was cute but now I'm hot huh?" Zac asked. "Oh Zac." Jessy moaned caressing his face, adding, "You say yeah I'm taller but Zac it's more. You're, you're.. Man you are so, so... You turn me on Zac." "I do. I mean you want me? I want you Jessy. Sometimes I think about you and I think I'll explode." Zac admitted as he took her in his arms. "Jessy I want you so." Zac admitted. "I want you too Zac." Jessy shared wrapping her arms around his neck kissing him deeply. Zac returned her kiss with one filled with everything he felt for her, gently laying her down on the ground. Zac kissed her again as his hands slowly explored her body, "Jessy?" he asked. "What hun?" Jessy asked. "Okay?" he asked as he slipped his hand under her tee. "Zac I love that you want me. It makes me feel so special." Jessy answered kissing him deeply as his hand caressed her breast and they both moaned. Things heated up quickly as Zac crawled on top of her, kissing her desperately as he wedged his way between her legs and they both gasped at the sensation. "You are so meant to be mine to love and some day I will do just that. Until then , I guess I better do something else before I do something we're not ready for." Zac exclaimed rolling them to their sides, cuddling her to him. "Babe you're so quiet. Are you okay Jessy?" Zac asked breaking the silence. "Uh huh. I'm fine Zac it's just I never imagined it feeling so right. You know when you were on top of me, it just felt so right you and me together. I can't wait until we're ready." Jessy confessed hugging him desperately. "Me too babe. Someday, someday soon." Zac whispered, kissing the top of her head over and over. They laid that way for awhile longer before Zac finally suggested they ride together. Zac took the lead covering the entire track, ending at the top of the hill. "Ready for a different kind of rush?" Zac asked and when she said yes he led her down the hill in a dead drop. "Yes. Oh my what a rush. Zac that was cool." Jessy squealed at the bottom. "You're gutsy Jessy, most people chicken out." Zac congratulated her. "Now you tell me. Sheesh and I just followed you figuring we'd ridden together and you knew what I could do. Chicken out, never considered it beause I thought you believed I could do it." Jessy complained and they laughed together. They returned to the house and headed in to clean up. They family including Grampa gathered for one more meal before Jessy had to leave them. "May I be excused. I'm not very hungry." Zac finally said breaking the silence. "This is ridiculous. Whoever heard of Zac not hungry?" Jessy asked and they all started laughing. "Jessy I don't." Zac pouted. "Poor Zac." Jessy said picking up her fork and stabbing the piece of steak Zac had cut off. "Hey that's mine." he argued. "You're not hungry remember." Jessy teased. "I changed my mind." Zac declared guiding her fork to his mouth and snatching off the steak and chuckling to himself. The meal finished, they sat over looking the lake and had their cake. "Well I'm finished and I better head for home so I can nap before school. Bye my little sisters, it is so cool having little sisters." Jessy said hugging and kissing her way through Jessie, Avie and Zoe. "Little dude, you I'm going to miss." Jessy said kissing his cheek. "She kisse me. She pretty and she kiss me." Mackie squealed. "Gonna miss you Jessy." Isaac said hugging her. "Miss you too big brother." Jessy said hugging him back, whispering in his ear, "Help him not miss me so much please." "Sure Sis." Isaac whispered back. "You! I can't believe you're making me share my summertime with Sis. Hurt my feelings, she'd rather be with you than me." Jessy pouted as Taylor wrapped his arm around her hugging her tight and laughing. "See you in three weeks Sis." Taylor said. "Mom, Dad thanks for everything especially Zac, he's so special." Jessy said hugging them both. "We'll see you in three weeks sweetie. I'm going to miss having you around."Diana insisted. "We'll miss your smiling face. Jessy I'm glad you love him too." Walker said hugging her tight. "Oh my Grampa. I'm going to miss you so. I wish you were coming on tour so I could have a Grampa all summer." Jessy sighed sitting in his lap. "It's not because we haven't asked." Zac teased. "Well you know if you feel that way about it, maybe I'll just tour with you this time." Grampa replied. "Really. Oh Grampa I'd love it." Jessy squealed. "Really Dad. I can't believe it. This is wonderful." Diana said making her way to them. They all hugged and kissed Jessy goodbye and Zac lead her by the hand to her car. "I'll miss you and I'm counting the days until we're together again." Zac said kissing her deeply then opening her door and she scooted in behind the wheel, leaning to kiss her again. They said their final goodbyes, kissed their last kiss and Jessy headed out the drive as the tears feel from her eyes. "I love you Jessy." she heard Zac scream as she made it to the end of the drive. "I love you Zac Hanson." Jessy screamed as she pulled onto the road and headed to the interstate.
