Wish That I Was There

Part Six

"It must be a good party, hear the music and we have another block to go." Zac explained. "You're kidding me." Jessy said looking at the house with partiers in the front yard, cars parked everywhere except the driveway which Zac pulled into. He got out opened the garage door and pulled in before closing it. "One of the perks of being the brother of his best friend." Zac explained as he walked around the car opening her door and extending his hand. "Hun I'm going to leave my purse in the car, can you unlock the glove compartment for me so I can put it in there." Jessy asked as Zac leaned in to do just that, kissing her when the task was accomplished. Zac took her hand in his. "I love it when you do this. I tingle all over when you hold my hand." Jessy explained as she shuddered all over. "I know it's like it passes right through you to me. You know when I look at you, you seem like I have to protect you from everything bad." Zac shared. "You do it so well. Zac I feel so safe in your arms. I really never thought I'd ever feel that way again. But I do in your arms." Jessy shared, heaving a big sigh as she reached for his hand. Zac pulled her into him, kissing her deeply before they headed in to find the host. Jessy was painfully aware that she was the topic of discussion everywhere they went. "Zac I'm getting thirsty." Jessy whispered into his ear in hopes he would hear over the blaring music. "Babe you wait here, I'll go in and get us something to drink okay?" Zac asked. "Okay but be careful. Take good care of you for me." Jessy insisted, kissing him goodbye, waiting patiently. "Whoa. I pray you came alone." she heard choosing to ignore it, hoping it went away. "Come on Zac." Jessy wished and sighed as she caught sight of him, big smiles covering both of their faces. "Oh my God, Jessy?" the voice asked as she shook her head yes. "Jessy it's me Ash, Taylor's best friend. Where's Zac? As good as you look, he shouldn't leave you alone." Ash explained extending his hand. "Hi Ash. I got thirsty and he went in there to try and get me something to drink." Jessy explained, pointing towards Zac. "Man I couldn't believe it when Tay told me earlier that you'd just up and came out, bound and determined to meet up with Zac. I can see it was the right thing to do, you look happy." Ash shared. "I am Ash. I was so relieved to find out it was all true. He loves me too." Jessy said beaming as her eyes glistened with tears of joy. "Here you go babe." Zac said handing her a Dr. Pepper, kissing her sweetly, adding, "Ash, great party. We're the blue mustang in the garage." "The rag top, cool wheels Jessy." Ash shared. "Thanks." Jessy said noticing the crowds approaching. "What is it Jessy?" Ash asked the look in her eyes. "Is that because of you or Zac?" Jessy asked pointing at the crowd of people headed their way. "Me? You're a sweetheart. No they're after your man Jessy but I won't let them have him." Ash answered, turning to the crowd, "Listen up. Joey kill the music a minute. Listen up. Do you hear me?" Ash asked and received yesses from about everywhere. "Good. I'm your host for those of you who don't know me. I'd like to introduce you to the guest of honor tonight. This lovely thing right here is Jessy and for everyone but the priviledged few like myself, she is the girlfriend of my best friend's younger brother, Zac Hanson." Ash announced as the moans, gasps, denials began. "Cool it. They've been going together over two years now and it's pretty serious so they decided it was about time the world met her. We're starting here tonight and most of you are my friends and I'm telling you this is a good thing. Be happy for them." Ash shared still holding Jessy's hand as Zac stood beside her his arm around her. "About time we got to meet you." some guy said. "Babe this is Kenny a friend of mine." Zac introduced. "Hey Kenny. Thanks." Jessy said shaking his hand as Ash released it. "Man last we talked you still hadn't met her." Kenny shared. "Yeah I know, it just happened yesterday. She just up and drove out." Zac explained. "Glad for you man." Kenny said as they shook hands. "Bitch. There's no way you been going together for two years. Why you lying?" someone screamed. "Hey Jessy didn't say it I did and I'm no liar. I happen to know because I used to talk to her two years ago when I was visiting Tay. She ain't no bitch either. If you can't be happy for them get out and don't ever come back." Ash said getting right in her face and the girl started to cry. "The only way you stay is if you apologize to Jessy and me. No apologies, you're out of here. Dougie, come here man." Ash called and the biggest guy Jessy had ever seen appeared. "Yeah Ash?" Dougie said. "Dougie this is Jessy, Zac's girlfriend and ain't nobody going to diss her while she's here you got it." Ash asked. "Yeah Ash. You gonna apologize or split?" Dougie asked the girl who quickly turned and ran. "Huh. Go figure. Don't let the gate hit you on the way out" Dougie hollered and everyone laughed. "Thanks Dougie, that was cool of you." Jessy said extending her hand. "No problem. So you and Zac man huh?" Dougie asked. "Yep me and Zac man. For a couple of years now but we finally met face to face yesterday. What a trip." Jessy shared as a big smile came over her face. "Just yesterday?" Dougie asked. "Yeah Dougie. I'm the luckiest man alive. She loves me and she's gorgeous." Zac said. "Yeah Zac man, she sure is pretty." Dougie agreed. "Yep she sure is pretty." Zac echoed taking her hand in his again. They danced, played volleyball, mingled with Dougie not far behind. "Babe I gotta head in, bathroom lines are as bad as the lines for something to drink." Zac explained. "Really? Maybe I better go with you then. I'm sure I'll have to go by the time I get a turn then." Jessy said following Zac through the house and to the line in the hallway. "We should have come sooner. I know I'm going to have to go before this is gone." Jessy joked looking at the long line. Suddenly people began leaving the line saying they didn't have to go, even a few with a pained look on their face that said differently. Zac turned to Jessy to see if she saw the same thing but saw the answer first. "Don't you hate long lines Zac man." Dougie said and a few more left the line making Zac next. "I'll keep an eye on Jessy and you go Dougie then you can keep an eye on her for me okay?" Zac asked. "Sure Zac man. Anything you say." Dougie said looking around before heading in. "I'll watch her now Zac man." Dougie said looking around again as he left. "Thanks Dougie." Zac said as he headed in. "Dougie do you work for Zac and his brothers?" Jessy asked. "Me? No Jessy, we're just friends. I'm a friend of Ash man." Dougie answered. "I just thought, you are awfully good at this taking care of people, keeping them safe. Man Dougie I just thought maybe you were one of their body guards you know. You check out everything going on around us, I just assumed you did it for a living, you're so thorough." Jessy shared. "Great idea babe. Dougie you want to work for me?" Zac asked. "Huh?" Dougie seemed confused as he watched Jessy go in the bathroom he looked both ways again. Zac explained what he had in mind and set up a meeting between Dougie and the family. As they headed outside, "She was right. There's now way you been going with him for two years." a small blonde declared. "Two years it is. I couldn't date until I was fourteen and I've been going with Zac ever since. He's he only boy I've kissed and he's going to be the only boy I love. Some day, if I have my way and all my dreams come true, he'll be the only man I make love to in my life." Jessy shared as gasps and awwwws were heard. "Why you?" the girl asked almost in tears. "I know it's not fair. So many of us love him for who he is but I love him in spite of that. I love the other Zac even more. He's like my best friend, my pal. We can sense what each other is thinking, feeling, without saying a word. Kind of spooky huh?" Jessy shared. "No that's wonderful." she cried. "Yeah it is pretty wonderful. I know this hurts you now but I hope you can be happy for us some day down the road." Jessy replied. "Yeah I'm sure I will." she mumbled as she turned and left. "Did you mean it?" Zac whispered. "Yeah but what part you asking about?" Jessy asked in a whisper. "You know that I'll be the only man you kiss and make love to?" Zac asked again. "Yeah Zac I mean it. I can't imagine anyone making me feel the way you make me feel. Your touch sends shivers throughout my body. When you look at me, it's like you look right through to my soul. You know what I think, want, feel even before I do sometimes. Yeah Zac I dream about you as the only man in my life forever." Jessy answered suddenly scared, worrying that she'd shared too much. "What if he thinks I mean now? What if he thinks I want a commitment now?" Jessy fretted until she heard Zac say, "Jessy I love you that way too. You know I dream about you marrying me all the time. We have a bunch of kids and live happily ever after in all my dreams. Jessy is it too much to ask, you know, can you, would you love me forever?" Zac asked with so many questions in his eyes. "Zac what's wrong? It'll be okay Zac, it has to be, I love you now and forever. It has to be okay." Jessy said hugging him tight. "You love me forever?" Zac asked in shock. "Yeah Zac. I have for sometime. I love you Zac now and forever." Jessy promised him as he wrapped his arms around her. "Jessy I know it's too soon but will you think about it?" Zac asked. "Umm Zac you read me like a book hun but I haven't got a clue as to what you just asked me to think about." Jessy admitted. "Will you marry me someday Jessy?" Zac asked. "Oh Zac I don't have to think about that, I already have. Yes I'll marry you someday and have your babies, it's what I dream about Zac. You and me forever living in a house full of happy, healthy kids who know they're wanted and loved." Jessy answered him as they gazed at each other for an eternity. "You guys gonna get married?" Dougie asked. "Yeah Dougie someday we're going to get married." Jessy answered. "Cool." Dougie replied. "Yeah it is cool. She's going to marry me and love me forever. Zac shared before whispering in Jessy's ear and she nodded her head yes. "Wait you weren't jealous. Jessy neither time, you didn't get jealous." Zac shared. "Why would I? I know you love me Zac, me, not her or anybody else. You love me." Jessy answered confidently as Zac took her hand and headed out to find Ash, saying goodnight. They were headed into the old neighborhood. "Night my Grampa." Jessy said blowing a kiss at his house as they drove on by and headed to the old house. When Zac got out to open the garage door, Jessy slipped into the driver's seat and drove the car in when he opened the door. "Thanks babe." Zac said offering her his hand. They headed through the back yard to the tree house. "Man I sure got good taste in clothes." Zac shared as his hands caressed Jessy's body as she climbed the ladder. "Oh my God Zac. Did you do this?" Jessy asked looking at the blanket, flowers, picnic basket. "With a little help." Zac answered making his way up, lighting the candles before getting them something to drink. At first they just stared at each other without saying a word. Then they talked about their future, the tour, the family, their wedding, their kids. "Our babies." Zac sighed looking at her belly first then caressing it. "Our baby will grow inside you, isn't it amazing." Zac shared as he bent down and kissed her belly. Jessy moaned his name before stroking his hair as he kissed lower. As their eyes met, "Jessy I don't want you to leave me." Zac blurted out, hugging her desperately. "Zac I didn't think about this part, you know, having to leave you. What am I going to do? Zac I don't want to go, I don't want to leave you." Jessy gasped at the thought, her heart breaking as tears filled her eyes. "Why did you have to remind me." Jessy pouted as she began to cry. "Don't cry Jessy." Zac said as he started to cry too. "Don't cry Zac." Jessy sniffled trying not to cry for his sake. They held each other while their hearts broke, both knowing that tomorrow she would leave. "How many weeks left of school?" Zac broke the silence by asking. "Three." Jessy answered cuddling into his arms, laying her head against his chest. "That's right we were coming down the week after school was out then we go on tour." Zac remembered, adding, "Three weeks. How do I survive three weeks?" The sadness in his voice broke her heart even more, "I know Zac. We made it two years remember. We're awfully strong even apart and now that we've been together. I don't know about you Zac but I'm so much more now that I have felt your love. Like you asking me why I wasn't jealous. I don't have to be anymore because I know how much you love me." Jessy explained. "I do love you Jessy." Zac said as he started to smile. "You understand don't you?" Jessy asked gazing into his eyes as he accepted what had to be. "Wait Zac, you said with a little help. Who's help, who knows we're here alone?" Jessy asked. "Your favorite fella, well besides me."Zac hinted. "Grampa?" Jessy guessed. "Right babe, Grampa knows the two of us are here alone. He said we are definitely meant to be together." Zac shared. "My Grampa is so smart." Jessy squealed. "Your Grampa, he's my Grampa." Zac argued. "Yeah that's what I said, he's my Grampa." Jessy teased as Zac picked her up and laid her on the blanket, "You're impossible." Zac declared pinning her down before kissing her deeply, adding, "I love you that way." They used their time together wisely, spending it in each others arms. "My turn to hold you." Jessy insisted. "It's okay, stay where you are." Zac replied. "No I mean it." Jessy argued rising and climbing in behind him, wrapping her arms around him, pulling him to her. 'Hmm this is nice." Zac shared. "Isn't it. When I'm in your arms, it's like nothing else matters. When I lay my head against your chest and listen to your heart beating, it's, it's.... I feel like I"m part of you. You know like we're one." Jessy shared as Zac turned in her arms laying his head against her chest listening to her heart beating. "Wow you're right." Zac sighed as Jessy stroked his hair, kissing the top of his head. Everything was so peaceful, quiet. "Too quiet." Jessy wondered looking down to find Zac asleep. She watched him sleep, so thrilled he had accepted her having to leave. If he hadn't there would be no way he would fall asleep. "Zac. Hun wake up. Zac it must be 11 or later hun and we have church in the morning. Wake up sleepy head." Jessy said waking him. "Man. Jessy I fell asleep." Zac said totally shocked. "I'm so glad hun. We're going to be okay." Jessy said kissing the top of his head before he sat up and stretched. They packed up and headed to Grampa's. "You're still up. Grampa thanks for believing in us. It means so much. I love you Grampa." Jessy said making her way to his chair, slipping onto his lap, hugging him. "Jessy you are about the best thing that's happened to me since my Jane died. You brighten up everything around you." Grampa confessed hugging her back. "You old softie. You're gonna get me in trouble I just know it." Jessy teased and they all laughed. "Well it's to bed for me, Church in the morning." Grampa explained and they said there goodnights. "I better go too or I never will. Until the morning Jessy. I love you." Zac said kissing her deeply. "I love you too Zac. See you in the morning." Jessy said walking him to the porch and waving goodbye as he pulled away.
