Sure About It

Part Twenty

"I don't know how to describe it Mom. I think she even scared herself. I was totally at a loss. She went from happy to angry in like two seconds." Taylor whispered into the telephone. "I can't believe this. Honest Taylor I thought Jessy had worked through all her insecurities. Her hair, I can't believe she cut her hair. She must have wanted to hurt you so bad to cut her hair." Diana gasped. The two discussed what had happened but mostly how to help Jessy deal with it. "I've got to go she's starting to stir. I'll call and see if I can get her in. Thanks Mom." Taylor said hanging up and making another telephone call. "Morning." Jessy mumbled as he hung up the phone. "Morning babe. How'd you sleep?" Taylor asked pulling a strand of hair out of her face. "Oh no." Jessy gasped looking at the short strand. "Babe I just made an appointment with a hair styist. She can even it up better than I did." Taylor shared. "Oh." Jessy sighed. "You hungry?" Taylor asked to change the subject. "Somebody is." Jessy answered. "Sure is ready for something." Taylor said feeling the baby. "For Mommy to get up I think." Jessy said her eyes getting large. "Let's get you up then." Taylor said rising and pulling her to her feet. Jessy made her way to the bathroom, starting the shower before returning for a change of clothes. "When is the hair appointment?" Jessy asked standing at the dresser pulling out clean clothes. "In an hour. You want to go then?" Taylor replied. "Yeah Tay. Tay thanks for making it." Jessy said turning his way and smiling. "You're welcome. I'm going to make you something to eat then run home and get cleaned up. A bowl of Fruit Loops?" Taylor replied. "Fruit Loops." Jessy moaned with a big smile. "That's a yes. Get in the shower and it'll be waiting for you on the nightstand." Taylor suggested pushing her towards the bathroom. Jessy had showered, consumed the cereal and was almost dressed, "You ready yet babe?" Taylor called out. "Almost. Come on back I need a hand." Jessy replied waiting for him, adding, "I seem to have lost my feet." "You what?" Taylor asked looking down at her feet. "I lost my feet. I don't see them." Jessy said lifting a foot to the front, the side. "Ah ha a dancer. Mommy is a dancer." Taylor shared rubbing her belly then bending to put on her shoes. The two loaded up in the yellow Bug and made their way to Jessy's appointment. "Got time to give you a trim while she's under the dryer." the stylist said. "Not too much. I need to be able to recognize him." Jessy whispered. "Not ready for a normal haircut huh?" Taylor asked standing in front of her, leaning down. "I almost died when you cut it the last time." Jessy whispered looking up at him. "So it mattered huh?" Taylor asked with a satisfied look on his face. "Uh I guess it did. Go figure." Jessy answered. While waiting for her hair to dry Jessy nodded off, "Babe you need to wake up." Taylor whispered leaning down as the stylist pulled the dryer up out of the way. "No Tay I'm tired." Jessy mumbled pushing him away. "Babe you have to wake up." Taylor whispered in her ear. "If I gotta." Jessy mumbled beginning to stretch realizing they weren't home and her eyes popped open, squealing, "Where are we? Oh yeah." "You're dried and she's ready for you." Taylor said help her from the chair. "I like Jessy." Taylor shared as the stylist worked on her hair. "You do? As long as it's easy to take care of. That's all that matters. I'm going to be very busy soon." Jessy shared rubbing her belly. "So can I take you for ice cream?" Taylor asked as they finished. "Oh you're so good to me." Jessy sighed shaking her head yes. "Tay. Tay I think that blue car is trying to get your attention." Jessy shared looking out his window. "Where?" Taylor asked turning and looking out the window. "Hey Ash." Taylor called out lowering the window. "Where you been man? I haven't seen you in so long? What's up with you lately?" Ashley hollered. "We're going for ice cream down the road. Follow me." Taylor suggested. As the blue car fell in behind them Jessy began to panic, "How do we explain this?" she thought placing her hands on her belly. "You're suddenly quiet. You okay babe? Baby?" Taylor asked placing a hand on hers. "Yeah we're okay Just thinking about the ice cream." Jessy teased trying to smile. "You're worried about Ash aren't you?" Taylor asked. 'Oh Taylor." Jessy sighed. "That's it isn't it?" Taylor asked again. "I know he's your best friend and all but Taylor... this is asking a lot of a friend." Jessy shared stroking the baby as the first tear broke free. "Don't cry babe. We don't have to do this. Ash will understand." Taylor insisted but the disappointment was there in his voice. "Will he? He already said he hadn't seen you in so long." Jessy suggested. "He just saw me at the party." Taylor shared pulling into the Ice Cream Shoppe. "Will you be alright here alone? I'll get Ash and go inside for pick up." Taylor asked. "Oh Tay I'm not alone." Jessy answered stroking her belly, "Well be fine hun." As Taylor left the car, Jessy reached above the visor and pulled on her sunglasses. She watched as Ashley pulled in on the other end, realizing Taylor had parked so he was as far away as possible. "Your Daddy sure takes good care of us." Jessy whispered stroking her belly watching as Taylor greeted Ashley, turning him away from her view. The two entered the shoppe, "Who'se in the car?" Ashley asked. "She's not ready for the world to know about her yet." Taylor answered stepping up and ordering. "Man they look good. Are they?" Taylor asked pointing at the pickle jar. "Very popular with our pregnant customers." the clerk answered. "I'm not pregnant I don't care what the rags say." Taylor teased and they all laughed. "They haven't written that one lately." Ashley teased. "Well for that I'll take two pickles." Taylor ordered. The two caught up on things while they waited for the order. "I'll work on her and we'll get together soon. She's just scared of how the fans will react. I love her Ash. I want to ask her to marry me but I'm not sure about it. I"m afraid she'll say no." Taylor admitted. "Whoa. Way serious bud. God Tay how'd this happen and I don't know. I thought I knew everything. We are so out of touch." Ashley complained shaking his head no. "We're fine man. Don't sweat it. I'll work on Jessy and you two will meet soon." Taylor said putting an arm around his best friend then squeezing. "You." Ashley squealed breaking the hold. "How does she put up with you?" Ashley teased. "She works at it. It ain't easy." Taylor said paying for his order, adding, "Gotta split man before her split melts and I'm in the dog house." "Man you sound married already. No wonder I haven't seen you." Ashley teased waving goodbye. "You look so happy. Tay I don't mean to keep you from your friends. I'm sorry." Jessy straining to reach the driver's door. "You aren't babe. Don't feel that way. Look I got you two pickles." Taylor shared hoping to take the hurt away. "Two?" Jessy sniffled out. "Yeah babe one for you and one for the baby." Taylor teased. "Oh and who'll eat the one for the baby?" Jessy asked moving her sunglasses down her nose gazing at him. "If you need help, I could." Taylor answered. "Oh my hero." Jessy teased caressing his face as their eyes locked. They gazed deeper and deeper, "I love you Jessy." Taylor exclaimed unable to hold his feelings in any longer. "I love you too Tay." Jessy whispered back leaning into him lightly kissing him. "What? You do? Jessy you said you love me." Taylor gasped. "I love you too Taylor Hanson." Jessy repeated smiling at him. "You do. You love me too." Taylor exclaimed. "You knew that." Jessy whispered as Taylor became more and more excited over her declaration. "Jessy marry me." Taylor blurted out wishing he hadn't the minute the words left his lips. "Taylor you're not serious." Jessy gasped pulling away staring at him. "Babe I'm sorry. I know you're not ready to hear that. I'm sorry Jessy. Don't think about it I shouldn't have said it." Taylor apologized hoping he didn't anger her. "You shouldn't have said it? You don't mean it then?" Jessy asked still staring. "What? Oh Jessy you know it's all I think about, dream about. Of course I mean it. I'd give anything for us to be together." Taylor confessed. "Taylor I think about it too. You're such a great Dad already. I can't tell you how proud I am of you. I've put you to the test. I really don't mean to be so impossible." Jessy confessed turning away. "I know you don't Jessy. You're not." Taylor insisted taking her left hand in his, reaching for and turning her face back to him with the other. "It's just I can't stop it sometimes. Taylor sometimes I feel so out of control. If it wasn't for you..." Jessy shared finally lifting her eyes to his, speechless over the love and concern she found in his bright blue eyes. "What about me?" Taylor asked smiling at her. "You. You are my rock. I never could have survived this without you Taylor." Jessy shared smiling back. The smile on his face disappearedand Taylor was off in thought. "Taylor what?" Jessy asked the pain on his face. "Taylor talk to me?" Jessy pleaded when she received no response. "You wouldn't have anything to survive if it wasn't for me." Taylor whispered turning away. "What? No Taylor that's not what I meant. Honest. Taylor please you have to believe me." Jessy pleaded. The realization of what he was thinking suddenly hit her, "Taylor Hanson how dare you." Jessy screamed. "Jessy don't. I'm sorry. Please baby don't get mad at me. I can't stand it when you're mad at me." Taylor pleaded hugging her, then laying his head on her belly, adding, "Please. I'm sorry. Jessy I love you so much." Jessy was moved. More than anything she believed him. One thing she was sure about was she could count on Taylor. Jessy searched for the right words. Spying her salvation, "I love you Taylor. As much as I hated what you did, I adore the man you are. No I love you more. I'm trying hard not to get mad. But how dare you." Jessy shared glaring at him. "Jessy?" Taylor asked rising and looking at her with questions in his eyes. "How dare you let my ice cream melt?" Jessy squealed reaching for her ice cream, adding, "Sorry hun but I do have priorities. Now where is that pickle?" Taylor couldn't hold it in. It started as a small chuckle but quickly grew into a full hearted laugh from the depths of him. His laughter filled the air capturing everyone's attention, even that of his best friend. "What's so funny man?" Ashley asked approaching the car. "Hi Ash. I'm Jessy and I'm not sure what he finds so funny." Jessy said reaching across Taylor extending her hand. "He does that sometimes. I know you." Ashley greeted. "Yeah you do. We met at a party you threw." Jessy replied. "Yeah that's right. You're her. You're the chick that got Zac good that night. Yeah that's you. Man I've never seen him speechless before you." Ashley exclaimed. "Well he deserved it. He's always picking on me. Accusing me of stealing a watermelon was the last straw so I just got even." Jessy answered defiantely. "Don't get her started." Taylor choked out. "Stealing a watermelon?" Ashley questioned. "Taylor stop laughing and tell him what your brother did, I have ice cream to eat." Jessy asked opening her ice cream. "Sure baby." Taylor answered and started to share the story. "Umm hey a table. We could..." Jessy suggested nodding at the table behind the shoppe. "Sure babe. Here Ash take these and go get us a table." Taylor said handing him an ice cream then making his way around the car opening the door and helping Jessy out, adding, "Love you for this." "Just don't hate me because it took me this long." Jessy whispered. "Not gonna happen." Taylor replied kissing her cheek than taking her hand and leading her to the table. The closer they got the more Jessy began to drag her feet, unsure of what they were about to do. "Babe we don't have to do this. You want to leave?" Taylor whispered leaning her way and kissing the top of her head. "Oh Taylor how do you always know?" Jessy gasped stopping in her tracks, gazing up at him, "No I don't need to leave. Taylor I trust you. Somehow you'll make it okay. You always do." "He's a good person Jessy. He won't judge us." Taylor whispered kissing her forehead. "You always know." Jessy sighed, turning to Ashley, "Save that table. We're coming honest. I just needed a breather. I'm walking for two and get pooped so easily." "You're a blast. Don't be so stingy Tay, share her." Ashley called out. "I don't want to. She's mine all mine and I like it that way." Taylor answered, whispering, "Come on baby I want to introduce you to my best friend." "Come on baby let's go meet Daddy's best friend." Jessy whispered stroking her belly, adding, "Oh oh. Tay where's the bathroom." "Just inside the door. I'll take you." Taylor answered. "I think I can make it on my own. Go talk to your friend. Hey Ash I'll be right back, I need the little girls room first." Jessy shared heading inside. "So you don't think she'll marry you huh? The baby not yours then?" Ashley asked. "You always get right to the point don't you?" Taylor replied with a chuckle before finishing, "Where do I start? The baby is mine Ash but I'm still afraid she'll say no." Taylor started and shared everything from their rocky start in LA up until last night. "Taylor what ever possesed you. It's so unlike you." Ashley gasped trying to understand. "I can't explain it. I was so sure she loved me. When she said no, I was so sure she was playing with me." Taylor admitted hanging his head in shame. "She seems to love you now." Ashley shared patting his back, adding, "Speaking of her, here she comes." "Ash I'd like you to meet the love of my life, my future wife." Taylor said reaching out to Jessy. "You what? And when did you plan on telling me?" Jessy squealed looking behind her then to the right, adding, "Where is she? Is she tough? Do you think I can take her? I am fighting for two now." When they finally stopped laughing, Jessy and Ashley finally got to know each other.
