I Don't Think So

Part Five

Jessy woke to a ringing phone. "Morning Martin Residence." Jessy said. "Jessy dear, sorry to wake you. Jessy John and I are still in Chicago, we didn't make our flight and can't get another until late this afternoon so we won't be home until this evening dear. I hate to do this I know Sundays are supposed to be yours, but can you please watch Lindsay." Mrs. Martin asked. "Of course I will. I'm sorry you missed your light. We'll look for you tonight then." Jessy said looking at the clock as she hung up. She dialed the limo service and left a message, arranging for a ride to church. "Geez I don't know what church." Jessy thought and panicked finally deciding to dial the Hansons. "Morning Mr. H, it's Jessy." she said. "Morning sweetie you want to talk to Zac?" Walker asked. "No, you'll do." Jessy said and explained her dilema and he told her the name of her church and address. "Thanks Mr H. We'll see you later." Jessy said. "Jessy you're still coming home with us right? Diana said Lindsay is more than welcome to come also." Walker asked. "You guys are so nice. We'd love to come. I really didn't know how I was going to tell Zac I had to break our first date. Thanks for saving me." Jessy said. "We'll see you at church then and you'll both come home with us." Walker said. "See you later." Jessy said hanging up as her phone rang. "Hello" she answered. "So you don't want to talk to me?" Zac asked agitated. "Baby don't do this. Zac that's not what I meant. I just meant that your dad could answer my question hun, nothing more. You know I'm dying to talk to you. Don't you Zac?" Jessy asked but he was silent. "Real mature. I'm sorry Zac what more can I say." Jessy pleaded and when he still didn't speak tears filled her eyes as she rolled into her pillow and cried. "Jessy, Jessy, what's the matter. I bet you and Zac are fighting, I bet he made you cry." Lindsay said. "You sure you're only 13 you sound way may grown up then me. Look at me crying over a boy. I'm going to college I ain't got time for boys." Jessy said. "Eat your heart out." Lindsay said. "Oh who am I fooling, I'm whooped over a guy. I'm pathetic. So what are you doing up and here little lady?" Jessy sniveled. "Mom and Daddy didn't come home." Lindsay said pain in her voice. "I know baby, I'm so sorry. Your mom called me to tell me they missed their flight and can't get another until late this afternoon. I'm sorry Lindy." Jessy said holding her as she kissed the top of her head. "Don't be sorry, you didn't do anything. I'm used to it. It's not your fault they don't love me." Lindsay said. "It's not your fault either. Who wouldn't love you, you're beautiful, funny, kind, smart, loving and really, really, hot when you want to be. You are irresistible. Lindsay I don't think your folks don't love you, I just think they have their priorities messed up. They take you for granted and put to the bottom when you should be on top, their gift from God and they treat you this way. For their sakes, I hope he isn't watching because they're going to have so much explaining to do before they get into heaven. And if they don't make it in, they'll miss seeing you again someday and me too." Jessy said tickling her. "Stop stop" Lindsay squealed. "You hungry baby?" Jessy asked. "Yeah I want pancakes, please?" Lindsay asked. "For you anything. I got us a car so we can go to church if you want, I talked to Mr. Hanson and he said we're both welcome at their place afterwards, if that's what you want. If not, you name it, we'll do it, Water park, Museum, Zoo, Movie, Mall, or all of the above." Jessy teased. "Jessy you were suppose to go out with Zac. Man Mom and Daddy mess up everybody's lives." Lindsay said. "Oh I think I messed up my life with Zac on my own, don't need their help. Nope, nope, nope. It's, I, I don't mean to but everything I say, makes him upset with me. We even started that way, him not speaking to me. I guess I had my warning he'd break my heart, I just didn't want to listen to my head instead I chose my heart and it hurts. Just plain hurts. So Lindsay wants pancakes huh?" Jessy said heading to the kitchen to make pancakes as Lindsay made her bed, hanging up the phone, "I made you bed." Lindsay said. "You're too cool, way cool." Jessy said as she finished their breakfast. They ate breakfast, cleaned up, dressed for church, remembering to pack extra clothes for after church. Lindsay had chosen church and the Hansons for the afternoon. "Wow Jessy you look so pretty. Eat you heart out Zac, huh?" Lindsay said. "No, I dressed for me." Jessy said laughing uncontrollably. "Yeah and I'm the Queen of England." Lindsay said. "Your Majesty welcome to America. Your son is a major jerk." Jessy said bowing. The car service picked them up and stopped out front of the church. The driver got out and opened the door first helping Lindsay from the car, then Jessy. "Lindsay" Jessie called as the girls raced their way to them as Jessy signed for the driver. Jessy hugged and kissed both Avie and Jessie noticing Zac in the distance, "Zac is so sad. What happened? I thought you two were going out together." Jessie asked. "I even saw him crying and Zac don't cry." Avie said. "Do you think you three can put this bag in the van?" Jessy asked and the girls headed to the parking lot as her eyes searched for Zac again. Jessy was shocked, he wasn't there, her eyes searched for desperately, she felt him, but where? "Zac?" she whispered. "Yeah Jessy" he answered from behind her. Jessy spun around her eyes searching his, "Zac..." Jessy was silenced by his fingers to her lips. "Listen to me Jessy, just give me a chance to explain how sorry I am. Jessy I'm not upset over what you say, I'm not mad at you, I love you Jessy. I act the way I do because I'm scared that you're going to realize how beautiful you are and leave me, so I guess I start stuff so it seems like it's my idea. It's not what I want Jessy, I want you to love me as much as I love you is all. I want to love you with my whole heart and my soul." Zac said as Jessy kissed his fingers. "Zac I do love you with my heart and soul and I have since I first looked into your eyes, something was there in your eyes that just drew me in and I couldn't help but love you the way I do." Jessy related the moment she knew they were destined to be together, her heart pounding as Zac drew her to him. Their eyes were locked on each others staring into their souls, as Zac pressed his lips gently to hers and she kissed him back with her heart and soul for the first time. "Jessy? Jessy you do love me." Zac said. "Yeah Zac I love you too. Hun I won't tease anymore okay?" Jessy said as Zac wrapped his arms around her tighter holding her close to him as the girls returned. "Awww they made up." Jessie said. "That's good she's such a mess without him." Lindsay said. "She's a mess, he's way gone without her." Avie said and they were off when Mr. H waved everyone over "Time to go in kids." Walker said as Zac took Jessy's hand leading her to the family. "Morning Jessy you look lovely dear." Diana said hugging her. "You certainly do." Walker said hugging her tight. "Thanks for including Lindsay. I'll have you know I offered her anything, the water park, zoo, mall, to make the hurt her folks not coming home go away. She chose you guys and church, so just thanks." Jessy said hugging them both again as she felt the tug on her dress "Hey Zoe" Jessy said as Zac bent down to pick her up. "Hey that's my Zac." Jessy said. "Me Zac" Zoe said. "My Zac too?" Jessy asked laying her head on Zac's shoulder. "Me Zac." Zoe said laying her head on Zac's other shoulder. "My Zac." Jessy said kissing his cheek and Zoe followed her lead. Jessy looked at Zac's neck then up to his eyes, "Jessy no. I couldn't handle Zoe doing that. We have to go in now." Zac said and they headed to catch up with his folks. Zoe sat with them throughout the service, mostly playing with Zac. The girls sat next to Jessy, the Isaac and Taylor, Mackie next to his mother and father. Shortly after the service started, Avie tugged on Jessy's sleeve, offering her two white envelopes, each addressed to her. In them she found the most sincerest apology from Taylor and Isaac over their behavior and comments, "Please forgive me Jessy. It was stupid of me to risk our friendship, to make fun of you and Zac because I was afraid to admit you could kick my butt too if you wanted, so I joked about Zac. Really dumb now you want to kick my butt. If I could take it back I would, but I can only say how sorry I am. Hopefully you'll forgive the jerk in me and we can be friends again. Love, Taylor." Jessy read to herself and dropped the letter to her lap, "Babe I wasn't done yet." Zac said as Jessy traded the letters for Zoe and held her in her lap and rocked her gently, stroking her hair as she fell asleep. "Hun given me you pen and the envelopes." Jessy whispered. On Isaac's envelope she printed out Becky's name, address, birthday, telephone number, e-mail addy and below it wrote, "If you want what Zac has then go for it. Love Jessy P.S. You hurt her and I'll kick your butt big time. She's my big sister in my heart." before handing it to the girls to pass down. On Taylor's envelope she printed Chele's name, address, telephone number, e-mail addy, birthday, and URL to her webpage and then wrote "For my big brother and my friend. The girl of your dreams is waiting for you. E-mail her, then call her and tell her you know where her sister is. She'll love you for life. Love ya, Jessy." she finished and sent it on it's way as they rose for the last hymn. Zac helped Jessy to her feet after seeing her struggle, "That was good practice for when you're pregnant with our baby." Zac whispered. "Then you know how much I'll need you already." Jessy whispered as Zac wrapped his arm around her, kissing Zoe's sleeping head. Sitting back down was as difficult as standing, "Now I see why once Mom got up she stayed up." Zac whispered. Zac helped her up one last time as services ended and they made their way from the church, stopping as Zac introduced her to Reverend Miller. "Hun Zoe's getting heavy." Jessy said as they were on their way again. Zac slowly slid his sister into his arms, Jessy hugging her until she fell back to sleep. "You're going to be such a great daddy hun. I can't wait to have your babies." Jessy said kissing him tenderly. "I'll see what I can do about that." Zac said as he kissed her back and they headed for the van again, loading up and making their way home.
