I Don't Think So

Part Sixteen

In a matter of no time the family pulled into the park and unloaded, setting up near the lake under a big tree. The guys dragged two picnic tables together and the girls covered them with table cloths and they set out the food and had lunch. After lunch the played soccer in the field next to the picnic area. Girls against Guys "Dang they're whooping our asses." Chele complained. "Then it's time to stop playing fair." Jessy said taking off her shirt and the guys all gawked. Chele followed by taking of her shorts complaining they were chafing her, walking up to Taylor sticking her butt at him and asking if there was a red mark. "No baby I don't see any redness just my pretty little butt." Taylor said rubbing her bottom. "Come on Tay we got a game to play. Pat her butt later." Isaac said. With their new handicap the girl pulled up even in a matter of no time and on the next play as Isaac was moving the ball down the field, "Oww" Becky cried out bending down rubbing her calf and as Isaac turned his attention to Becky, Chele raced in an stole the ball back and passed it to Jessy who ran it to the goal facing Zac as Jacob's cries reached them, stopping them in their tracks. "Block it Zac." Isaac called. "I don't think so." Zac said headed to Jessy. "Kick it Jessy." Becky called. "I don't think so." Jessy yelled taking Zac's hand and racing to Jacob. "What's the matter son?" Zac asked picking him up. "I've changed him so it's not that." Diana said as Jacob stopped crying. "Want to go swimming with Mommy and Daddy, Jacob?" Zac asked. "Great idea hun." Jessy said. "Well he loved taking a shower with us." Zac said laying Jacob back down and taking off his clothes. "Mom can you grab a Swimmies out of the bag, it's the smallest size they had." Jessy asked. "Walker look isn't this precious, take it to Zac." Diana said. Soon the whole family was headed into the lake, "Splash Mommy Jacob, that's my boy." Zac said moving Jacob's hand through the water splashing Jessy. "Take that." Jessy said taking a mouthfull of water and spraying a fine stream at Jacob causing him to squeal. "Come here baby." Jessy said reaching for him and as she pulled him along the water to her, "Swim with Mommy Jacob." Jessy said blowing into his face and as he held his breath, Jessy quickly dunked him under the water. "See you can swim with Mommy. More?" Jessy asked and he squealed. "Sis come help me teach Jacob to swim." Jessy hollered. "I'm here. So you gonna swim huh Jacob. Mommy's big boy huh?" Chele said reaching for him and Jacob seemed mesmerized by her voice and went with her going under the water for her as he had for Jessy. The girls worked with him and soon were pushing him back and forth to each other under the water. "Wow Mommy is so proud of you. Can you swim to Daddy now Jacob? Hun you can't show him any fear. Ask him to swim to you Zac." Jessy said. "Come here big boy. Swim to Daddy Jacob." Zac said waiting for Jacob. "Way to go boy. Daddy's big boy." Zac said kissing him. "Mom, Dad you ready for you grandson to swim to you?" Zac asked and soon Jacob was swimming between them all. "That's enough Jacob we'll swim again another day. Tell everybody bye bye." Jessy said making her way to shore. "Babe wait." Zac called racing after her. "Zac you can swim with the family. Hun I can take care of Jacob myself." Jessy said. "No Jessy, you're not alone anymore." Zac said. "I'm sorry Zac I don't mean to exclude you honest. I guess I still can't believe you're here with us." Jessy said walking back to him. "Jessy I love you, let me in." Zac pleaded. "Hun I'm trying." Jessy said extending her hand, "Zac I don't mean to hurt you." she finished tears filling her eye. "Oh Jessy I know you don't mean to. I shouldn't have brought it up." Zac said. "No Zac we have to be able to talk about everything. Even stuff that hurts" Jessy said kissing him sweetly. "Yeah babe, we love each other enough to even talk about the stuff that hurts." Zac said kissing her back deeply as Jacob squealed. "Then let's talk. Zac I can understand that you feel like I'm excluding you on purpose because you feel like I concealed Jacob all that time and was prepared to keep it up for another sixteen months. Zac that was my decision but you have to remember the reason I made that decision. Hun you seem to focus on just the decision." Jessy said as Zac wrapped an arm around her and they made their way to dress Jacob. "Zac I should have given you the choice to come help or to stay, this was my fault I'll try harder. But Zac I didn't do it to hurt you or exclude you." Jessy explained watching Zac dress Jacob as she dried off, spreading a blanket on the ground under the tree. "Here put on my shirt babe, our little boy is hungry." Zac said tossing her his shirt and picking up Jacob and delivering him to her. Zac sat behind her, holding her while she nursed Jacob. "If you had any doubts, that picture right there would convince you they're meant to be." Walker said pointing towards the tree. "It's not so much I doubted them. Walker I just put myself in her place. God forgive me he's my son, but I don't know if I could ever get past what he did." Diana said. "Thank God she can mother, they make a beautiful picture. Maybe this is one of those things we are just to accept blindly mother, you know not try to reason it out, just accept and embrace it." Walker said. "That's it Walker. Bless you." Diana said hugging him. "Mom have you ever seen such a perfect picture." Taylor asked as he and Chele approached. "Your father and I were just discussing that son. Yeah they certainly look right together." Diana said looking at Chele. "Baby it's not ours to question just accept and embrace it." Diana said hugging her. "Mom I couldn't, I just couldn't." Chele cried. "I know baby, I just told Walker that same thing. My wise one said maybe this is one of those things we are to accept blindly, not reason it out Chele just accept and embrace it." Diana said. "Thanks Daddy. This has been so hard for me, I kept putting myself in her place. I guess it's simple after all, it's not my decision to make or reason, just to accept." Chele said kissing Walker's cheek. "Zac can you take the baby and burp him." Jessy asked turning towards him. Zac picked up Jacob, raised him to his shoulder and patted as Jessy reached under the shirt pulling her top back into place. Zac laid Jacob on the blanket next to them, "Here cover him with your shirt." Jessy said unbuttoning it and Zac pulled it off, laying it over Jacob. "Man he looks so happy. Babe you know you were right, but Jessy I'm going to get past this my judging everything based on me not know about Jacob. It's pointless Jessy, I know in my heart it must have killed you not telling me, having to face everything by yourself. I'm just going to be grateful that we're together now and not worry about the past. Now is what's important babe." Zac promised. "Oh Zac I love you so much." Jessy said turning to hug him. They sat lost in each other's eyes, gazing into each other's souls until Jessy's belly rumbled. "I'm hungry." Jessy giggled. "Really, you think so." Zac laughed as Jessy rose. "I'm going to go raid the cooler, want to come with me." Jessy asked extending her hands pulling him to his feet. Zac wrapped her in his arms, "Jessy I know I don't tell you enough how proud I am of you, you're such a great Mom. Jacob's so lucky and he knows it, just say the M word and you know he loves you. I got one smart boy there." Zac said kissing her deeply. "Oh Zac you've made such a difference in his life. He's grown so much emotionally since you found us, it's like he's at peace. I mean he's always been a good baby Zac, but he's a happy baby now. And he knows how important you are to him, Zac he knows you're his daddy." Jessy said smiling her eyes filling with tears. "Now that's a good thing right? You always confuse me with that smiling, crying look you do so well." Zac teased kissing her tears. As they headed for food the rest of the family appeared and they all sat down together. "Jessy are you really coming home tomorrow for good?" Jessie asked. "Yeah Jessie, Zac's bringing Jacob and I home tomorrow night. When he went to the doctor yesterday they gave him another immunization and we have to keep a close eye on him for two days, so we're staying here, because Jacob doesn't have a doctor in Tulsa yet. And yeah Jessie I coming home for good. I'm done with running from things that scare me. I've learned one thing this week, I'm so much stronger with Zac. I can face anything as long as I have Zac on my side, that's all that matters, that we're together taking care of Jacob." Jessy said, adding, "Hun I think he heard me." "Zac let me get him?" Taylor asked. "Sure bro." Zac said and everyone watched as Taylor went to Jacob and talked to him finally picking him up and walking back to the table. "See I told you everyone is still here, Uncle Isaac and Becky, Uncle Mackie, Aunt Zoe. Oh we'll skip this one you know her already." Taylor said skipping Jessy, then, "Here is Aunt Jessie, Aunt Avie, Gramma, you know Gramma don't you, you're smiling. Geez Mom you spoiled him good." Taylor said as "Diana kissed Jacob over and over. "Here you know him Jacob, yeah boy it's your Grampa." Taylor said as Walker took Jacob and lifted him high in the air. "You think he doesn't know his Grampa, he knows his old Grampa." Walker said kissing and blowing on his belly and Jacob laughed. "Zac he laughed." Jessy smiled. "Way to go Grampa." Zac yelled and Jacob looked his way. "Hey that's not fair. I'm your Grampa he's just your Daddy." Walker pouted as Taylor took Jacob back and headed down the table, "Don't be looking at him, he's just my little brother. Now this pretty thing here, this is Aunt Chele. She's M word's sister ain't she pretty. Don't tell her but I got it bad for her, I'm a goner Jacob. You know what it's like, I saw you looking at M word, man Jacob you got it bad for her boy. Not as bad as your Daddy though, man he's a lost cause." Taylor stopped noticing the glare from Chele as Jessy rose, "If you'll excuse me. I've apparently misplaced my sense of humor." Jessy said heading to the rest rooms with Chele on her heels. "Sis you know he didn't mean it." Chele said wrapping an arm around her shoulder. "I said as much. I know he's kidding but right now I don't see the humor Sis. It's my problem." Jessy said closing the stall door. Chele headed back shrugging her shoulders, "Baby she knows you were kidding, but she's can't help feeling the way she does and you joking about Zac loving her hurt her Tay. I'm sorry try not to feel bad. How stupid I know you're hurting but Tay it's just happened and you can't undo it." Chele explained. "I gotta change baby. Man my mouth sometimes. I'm waiting for her, I gotta try." Taylor said kissing her sweetly. "TayBear you've got a good heart. Good luck." Chele said heading back to the table. "Hey sis." Taylor said. "Tay I know you were only kidding. I'm sorry I can't help feeling the way I do sometimes." Jessy explained. "Jessy listen to me. Seeings you're already disappointed in me. My mouth has caused you so much pain I'll understand if you'd rather not be my friend but I gotta tell you. Jessy it's all my fault. God only knows why I turned on Zac like I did that night, I mean we always teased and horsed around but Jessy I never pushed like I did that night. I turned on him like he was the enemy Jessy. He must have been so angry at me to hurt you the way he did. Jessy he's loved from the moment you came out the door after Lindsay that day. I'm so proud of you and how you've handled everything on your own, raising Jacob by yourself but most of all I'm just so blown away at the way you've gotten past it all and just love Zac. You're one hell of lady in my book Jessy." Taylor said tears streaming down his face. "Oh Taylor loving Zac is the easiest thing I've ever done. It's natural just like breathing. I told Zac that maybe he had to be angry enough to hurt me the way he did. You know we had talked about getting married and having kids but I was thinking way down the line you know school, college, law school and I figure that didn't fit into God's plan you see I was so definitely meant to be Jacob's mommy and you know I loved Zac from the get go but we were going to wait Tay and that wasn't in the big overall picture. Tay I don't blame you and you shouldn't either." Jessy said leaning her head on his shoulder. "God Jessy how'd you get so smart?" Taylor asked. "I don't know but I am not questioning it, they might find the mistake and take it away." Jessy laughed. "You're funny kid." Taylor laughed kissing the top of her head. "Tay we still buddies?" Jessy asked. "Oh yeah Jessy. You're one the best buddies I could ever ask for and I'm honored to say your my friend." Taylor said giving her a big bear hug. "Dang Tay you squeeze any harder I'm apt to start leaking and Zac says I almost drowned us last night." Jessy laughed. "Hey best bud, truth, did Zac really hop your bones three times like he said or was he stretching it?" Taylor asked. "Why do you think he's lying? Tay I don't know anything but Zac and yeah he made love to me three times this morning." Jessy said. "Way to go Zac." Taylor said shaking his head. "Oh get over it and just love Sis madly and it's easy. Man is it fun." Jessy giggled. "Jessy stop it. Man Zac I have new respect for you putting up with her." Taylor yelled. "Wuss gotta call for help." Jessy said jumping on his back as he started to walk away. "Zac take your woman. Get her off me." Taylor said. "Oh you loved it Taylor. Oh I can't wait to move home now. Tay you gonna play with me everyday huh?" Jessy teased. "Sis you're crazy, but I'm glad you're coming home even if I gotta play with you everyday." Taylor said. They cleaned up, packed the van and headed back to drop off Zac, Jessy and Jacob before the family could head back to Tulsa.
