Chapter Three

They had arrived and Walker pulled the van in at the back lot, showing I.D. at the guard house, he pulled in next to the stage. "Security looks good this time. Hopefully no more near misses. Chele, Jessy you girls are to always be with each other or one of us, do you hear. There are some real freaky fans and I don't take chances with any of my kids. So let's go check it out." he said and they started unloading. "Hey Zoe, want to be free?" Jessy asked unbuckling her from her car seat and stepping out of the van to fresh air. "Hello Detroit, I'm back." Jessy yelled. "Me Too." Zac yelled slipping an arm around Jessy and Zoe squealed. "That's a girl scream it." Jessy said twirling Zoe and both of them laughed. "So this is Detroit, huh?" Chele said. Tay took her hand, "Let's go see if everything is set up. Come on Ike, Zac, Jessy, work to be done." Tay said. "Come on Jessy, slavemaster Tay beckons." he said putting his arm around her and kissing her. Jessy caressed his face and kissed him back before they scurried after the others as some screeamed "Did you see that? Which one is it?" Jessy and Zac both looked back but didn't see anyone and hurried back stage. Tay and Chele were on the top step and Chele looked out at the stadium, "God I don't believe you do this, it's empty and I'm terrified, I can't imagine fans and us screaming. I'd never make it." Chele said. "It's okay Chele, hang onto my hand. Just watch the wires, they aren't taped down yet." Tay said leading her out on stage and to the far side to check keyboards, congas and his mic. Ike headed to his guitars and when Zac and Jessy hit the top step, "Cool. Hello Detroit. We're Here and right now we'll do the tuning of the instruments by none other than Hanson. Let's give it up for Hanson. AHH!" she screamed covering Zoe's ears and Chele joined her. "So that was you last tour." Zac teased. "You be careful, it could have been and wouldn't you feel bad if you'd really heard me and we've wasted a whole year of loving each other because you didn't do something about it." Jessy said lightly swatting his butt. "Cool she's going to spank me." Zac said. "No I'm not. I just couldn't resist, you bent over and your butt is one of my favorite things. I just had to. I'm so weak." Jessy moaned. "You know that makes us mutual butt admirers don't you?" Zac asked "What?" Jessy said. "I love your butt too, especially when you walk up the stairs. Whoa!" he said. "Zac Hanson and here I thought you're being such a gentleman, letting me go first in case I trip, you're there to catch me. No you're there so busy watching my bum, you'd probably not even catch me." Jessy fumed. "I wouldn't let anything happen to you two." Zac said. "I think she's mad at me Zoe, what do you think. Nope she's smiling. Awww, I think she's so pretty, especially when she smiles and looks at me that way. See it. See the look in her eyes." Zac said kissing Zoe then Jessy. "I can't help but look at you. Please don't be mad." Zac begged. "I'm not mad. How could I be mad at that face." Jessy said caressing his face then kissing it. "I think you better get busy, here comes Daddy." Jessy said as Zac walked around the drums making sure they were secure. "He's done that ever since that time his drum rolled away." Daddy said hugging Jessy. "Let's get plugged in guys." he said heading to Ike. Jessy watched as Zac finished his inspection, then he put on his headset, sat on the stool, leaned back and puckered towards Jessy. She leaned Zoe into his lips. "Nice but not quite what I was looking for." he said making eyes at Jessy. "Looking for this." Jessy said leaning into him and kissing him. "Now I can play." Zac declared and went crazy on the drums to both girls delight. "Down boy." his dad laughed smiling at Jessy. "Jessy get your sister and come on." Diana called to her. "Hey sis, come on Mom wants us. Gotta go hun, see you later." she said walking up behind Zac slipping an arm around him and hugging him tight. Zac leaned his head back and she kissed him on the forehead, the end of his nose and finally on the lips harder and harder until he came up for air. "Whoa you are, whoa Jessy." he sputtered. "I'm going to miss you is all." she said kissing him on the forehead and heading toward his mother. "What's up Mom?" she asked turning back to see Zac staring, she waved bye. "Don't fall of that stool there trying to get a look at my sister's ass there Zac." Chele teased as she made her way to catch up with them. The girls headed back out to the van and Diana drove to the hotel valet service, "Girls show him everything that needs to go up to your room." she told them. Chele opened the back doors and pointed to the things while Jessy straightened up the rest of the van putting everything away. Diana instructed the service that Barbara was coming and she wanted both vans side by side and told him to just unload everything from the other van and bring it up to the rooms. "Come on girls, they'll bring everything." Chele took Mackie's and Avie's hands and followed Diana, Jessy took Jessie's hand, "Wow if this won't be like totally confusing. I get yelled at a lot, so you're going to hear your name constantly. I'm sorry about that." she shared. "You, good I didn't know how to tell you that you might want to change your name. I think I'm the only one who's name Mom remembers at times. Jessie this, Jessie that non-stop all day. When she's made I'm Jessica!" she said. "Me too! Way cool." Jessy said wrapping her arm around her and squeezing. "You know we could have fun with this." Jessy said whispering to her and they both laughed and followed Mom to the elevator. "Jessy do you think your Mom will use valet service." Diana asked. "You always do Mom." Jessie answered. "No the other Jessy sweetie." she said. "Oh me, I'm sorry, I thought you meant, no that doesn't make sense blonde one. Duh? In your van, I'm sure she will Mom." Jessy said poking at Jessie. "Mom how long do you think Zac will be? I promised him I'd find time to hangout together, I think he wants to totally humilate me playing arcade games." Jessy asked. "Probably an hour Jessy." Mom answered. An hour for what Mom?" Jessie asked. "Not you honey the other one." she said. "Hey you, Jessy, Mom said an hour." Jessie shared. "Oh thanks, I had just asked her. Cool an hour to goof off." Jessy said. "You girls remember the rule, never alone." Mom stressed again. "Off here, here's your key and your room." she said handing the key to Chele and Chele opened it. "I'll be back, I'm going to help Mom get the kids in first. That's okay isn't it to be alone between our rooms?" Jessy asked. "Yeah Jessy we have this whole wing no one else should be here." Mom answered. "Why you telling me that, Mom I know the routine." Jessie said. This will be Mom and Dad's room This will be Mackie's room, Avie's and my room and the guys will be in this room here. Oh, next to your room. How handy." Jessie said. "Cool little sis, thanks for the important info. "And where do you sleep, sleepy girl?" Jessy asked Zoe looking to Diana for an answer. "For the life of me I don't know why, but I always put her crib in my room." she answered. "Jessie you're old enough to start babysitting and I bet if you took responsibility of your youngest sister, having her sleep in your room, that Mom and Dad might see it as a sign of maturity and might be more apt to say yes if you should decide to sit. Jessie, I took classes and got a certificate and first aid training, really took it serious like. Babysitting paid for this trip, all my Hanson stuff, I buy most of my own clothes, and I've saved five thousand dollars in a little over three years. I'm either buying my own car, or paying my share of college. I'm leaning toward the ride, some cool wheels. But hey, I've got three years to go, I could go for a new car. I'm in high demand now,I pick and chose, when and where I work. I have clients as far as thirty miles away that drive out to pick me up just so I can watch their kids. You ought to give it some serious thought. Don't fall into the trap, Mom and Dad give me everything why. The answer is every woman needs to be self sufficient, capable of taking care of herself at least, the majority of the households in this country are run by single women, the majority raising kids on a child support system that stills favors the male over the welfare of his children. It's an important thing for every young woman to learn. Even you and you, Miss Zoe." Jessy finished. "Jessy what classes did you take?" Diana asked. "Oh it was a six week course, two nights a week, two hours a night so 24 hours of child development, nutrition, first aid, emergency preparedness. I got a certificate for completing the class, a junior first aid technician, and junior CPR technician. I have to update those two every year with six hours of additional training. It's worth it, that's how I pull in the big bucks. The client that drives thirty miles, their Joey, is Zoe's age, half year older maybe, he has cerbal palsy. Breaks my heart, but Joey will never know that, he's my best bud and I make him believe he's like everyone else, one of God's special gifts. God you're so lucky. So's my Mom she's got five of us and Ben and Sam were plagued with earaches. Just can't figure it some times." Jessy said hugging Mom. "Jessy I had no way of knowing how special you are." she said hugging her. "Special, opening my eyes to the world around me and living makes me special. Man where are we headed, if I'm special because I look and live? Scary. Yet here you are, and my Mom still having faith in the master plan and having large families. Getting deep and really boring Zoe to sleep. Why don't you open your room for me and I'll put her down for a nap." Jessy said and Diana unlocked the room. Jessy headed to the crib, "No blanket do you have one in the diaper bag?" Jessy asked and put down the side rail of the bed and lowered Zoe as Diana came and covered her. "You I'd love to talk with anytime you can make time for me." Diana said hugging her. "It's quiet, don't you think we ought to check on them?" Jessy asked. As they entered the hall, "I see I have unpacking I can do, see you in a few." Jessy said kissing her on the cheek. "Hey, thanks for bringing them up. Chele time to unpack. Go on in." Jessy said. Chele came in from the balcony and the bellhop was on his way after Jessy tipped him. "Let's get our outfits hung up and unpack." Chele said and the girls got busy. "Finished." Jessy said. "Me too. I'm hungry" Chele said. "Me too. Sis do you think Mom will let me go out with Zac when he's done. God she's like never going to understand this. She is so like totally against men ever since she divorced my dad. She's not going to want to hear that I'm falling totally head over heel in love with Zac Hanson." Jessy said crying. "Jessy don't cry, I hate to see you cry. Mom's so cool how can you say she'll be so cold hearted, not even listen to reason. Jessy she just can't be that way. I don't know if I could deal with finding out she's not the Mommy I've learn to love." Chele said holding Jessy and stroking her hair as Jessy began sobbing. "Barbara you're back. What's wrong. Are you all right? You look as if you've seen a ghost?" Diana asked. "Is there someplace we can talk alone?" Barbara asked. Diana stopped and told the girls to keep and eye on Mackie, she would be in the guys room. The two talked, Barbara bore her soul and the two grew close. "You ever need a shoulder, Walker and I are here for you. I don't know how Chele will react to the news?" Diana said. "You know I think I'll stay in here use the phone and call Donna the girls' third mom. I'll have to get you guys together soon. I'm going to put off telling the girls our decision until Donna has a chance to digest this all and give us her thoughts." Barbara said. "Good idea. Let me know their decision. Here comes the luggage, do you think the girls will help?" Diana said. "Of course, let me go make a grand entrance and that will give me something to occupy them with while I call Donna." Barbara said. "Hi my girls, You guys know where to find Diana, I'm back and I brought luggage, why don't you give her a hand." Barbara said hugging the girls. "What's the view like from here?" she asked. "It's great Mom, go on out and relax we'll find Mom Hanson and help get everyone unpacked." Chele said. "That's my girls." Barbara said heading to the balcony. She looked at the stage and seeing four figures, she waved big until they noticed, waving back. "Donna it's Barbara. You'll never believe what happened on the way."   she said sitting down on the rail. "Mom do you have set ages for when the kids can date, go steady that kind of stuff." Jessy asked while unpacking Mackie's bags. "Jessy I don't think age is everything it's cracked up to be. My Mackie is more mature and worldly than some forty year olds I know. I don't think my dating concept is physical age as much as maturity. Has someone asked you out?" Diana asked. "Sort of. He had such a hard time, he started like three different times before he finally blurted he wanted us to spend time together before the show." Jessy said. "Jessy that would be so good for Zac. He really gets nervous before the show, sometimes makes himself physically ill, throw up like. I'm sure you'd be good for him. Now you're question, if you were my daughter, would I let you go out with Zac Hanson the 13 year old with new out of control horomones. Wow that's a tuffy. I know he knows better, but does he respect you enough?" Diana asked. "Mom we've already been there and he does. He said he loved me too much to risk doing something neither of us is ready for and risk losing me. He's just so wonderful." Jessy said watching her reaction. "I'm glad to know he can still think with all that testosterone coursing through his veins." Mom said. "I'm not saying it was easy for him, but he does care. I can't believe the stuff we talk about. Wow, liberated, I'd say. Definitely not one to worry about fitting into a mold, marching to him, the different drummer." Jessy said wrapping her arms around herself, then suddenly hugging her and saying, "Thanks for having him and raising him to be the man he is. You've made me so happy." Jessy said hugging her. "Done." Jessy declared emptying the last bag. "Just the guys stuff left. Let's give it a shot." Jessy said." "You're awfully brave to attempt this. I honestly think if I'd known this part of Walker, I'm not sure I would have agreed with everyone that we were so connected." Mom laughed. "So many bags. I'll carry them in and you sort them by who." Jessy started. "Just in time do you think you can unpack for Tay without coming unglued. I can't decide if I'm that tuff to touch Zac's boxers, but I did touch his ass and his boxers were on, so I've done that. I haven't touched his socks, I don't think I'll come unglued over socks. I can do this. Hey Mom I found help, if you'll unpack Ike, Chele will do Tay and I'll do Zac." Jessy said. "We did it. I can't believe I unpacked for Taylor Hanson without one scream or tear." Chele said. "I got a little teary eyed when I opened the dirty clothes bag, maybe we need to go down to the laundry. Zac's feet are worse than mine use to be. Whewy!! Mom is it true about the closet full of dirty socks?" Jessy asked and both girls jumped on the bed waiting for her answer."Mom you wouldn't." Tay screamed. "Wouldn't what?" Zac asked. "Jessy just asked her if the closet full of dirty socks was true." Tay told her. "Mom no you wouldn't." Zac said. "Zachary Hanson we're going to go do the laundry for that wise crack. You and Tay want to come?" Jessy asked. "Sure don't matter to me." Chele said. "But Chele, I thought we were going to do something together." Tay asked. "Yeah Jessy, I thought we were going to hangout together?" Zac asked. "We will honey, can't you see it, me and you and your stinky socks. How romantic. I'm soooo lucky to have you in my life." Jessy teased. "Chele, you don't have to go honestly, I just wanted you to so Mom would let me go. You and Tay go have fun." Jessy said hugging her and heading next door to find her Mom. "You still on the phone, is it Gramma tell her I met Zac and he's as nice as she said he would be. Mom, Mom Hanson has a couple bags of dirty laundry would it be okay if I helped Zac get it done. The laundry is on the first floor we'd be in the hotel and I think we have to have security so we'll be safe." Jessy said. "Just don't forget the rule, never alone. Have fun, what am I saying doing laundry. It was nice of you to volunteer for such a dangerous mission. See you in a couple." Barbara said waving and Jessy headed back. "Oh Jessy she said no, we'll go. I'll talk to her." Chele said . "No she said have fun, no what am I saying, doing laundry. It was nice of me to accept such a dangerous mission. I think she said yes." Jessy said. "Mom we're doing laundry." Zac said hugging Jessy and she finally smiled. "I'm changing, can you wait for me to take a quick shower?" Zac asked. "Sure, I have to go get Mackie's dirty clothes. Sis did the girls have any?" Jessy asked kissing Zac bye and heading out to gather dirty clothes. When she returned Chele had gone to change. Tay was in the shower, Ike had changed and Zac was setting in a towel. Jessy grabbed the blow dryer and dried Zac's hair as Ike went in to retrieve Tay's dirty clothes. "All packed up Jessy." Ike said "Thanks big bro." Jessy said and Ike turned and smiled, "You're welcome lil sis." bringing a smile to Jessy's face. Zac noticed and hugged her, "I'm so glad you get along with them." he whispered. "You don't have to whisper Ike knows we get along and he's okay with it." Jessy said, adding, "And Taylor and I get along already too. You only have to worry about you and me getting along" Jessy informed him as Taylor emerged in a towel asking for his hair to be dryed special for Chele. Zac grabbed his clothes and headed into the bathroom. "Done and you look mighty fine." Jessy said then went to answer the knock at the door. "Mom, Zac's getting dressed finally." Jessy said. "I brought Walker's dirty clothes and some money and your dinner will be delivered in half an hour so, Thanks Jessy, you're so special, just thanks." Mom said hugging her. "Sure Mom." Jessy said. Zac finally got ready and they headed down the hall to check in with Jason, "You're lucky, tonight you get me. Here I'll take that bag little lady. Yours too Zac, then you hold that pretty little hand for me so she doesn't look so frightened."he said. "Jessy it's okay. He's not so bad once you get past the size of him and his bald head. He's a pretty good guy." Zac said hugging Jessy. They had a blast doing laundry, he pushed her in the cart, she teased him and then shared her stinky sock story, the made out knowing when to stop this time. Dinner came and it blew them both away, fancy sit down, candles, roses for Jessy and the lights dimmed. Laundry finally folded and ready to go, they headed out to find Jason talking with Chele. "What's up?" Zac asked. "Oh it was just terrible." Chele said and collapsed into Zac's arms. "Sis are you okay?" Jessy asked. "No, fans ruined our fun. They just wouldn't leave Tay alone." she said. "Where is Tay?" Zac asked "They took him up already and here comes extra help for us. You three stay together and don't stop for anything." Jason ordered, takingthe laundry. "Thanks for serving dinner you did a great job." Jessy waved to the waiter. "Jessy don't get scared promise. I won't let anything happen I promise." Zac said as the volume increased nearing the end of the hall. "I trust you Zac. I promise I'll try my best not to freak." she answered and Zac kissed her forehead. "Just stay together and don't stop." Jason said as they cleared the hall and hotel security filled in behind them. "I'm not going to freak, I'm not going to freak." Jessy chanted, wrapping an arm around Zac. "You're okay, both of you." Zac said as they made it into the elevator. They joined back up with Tay upstairs, he was upset. Really upset. "Chele I don't blame you if you never want to go out with me again. This is my life and it sucks, big time. I can't even have dinner with you without some girl screaming Taylor I want to have your baby." he said so dejected. "Michele Dawn Lappert you promised me. How could you, on your first date. You're shameless. You know I told you to wait until the third date to scream that at him." Jessy said seriously, shaking a finger at Chele. "But Jessy, you did his hair too good. I was a goner the minute he knocked on the door and I opened it and saw that hair." Chele screamed and Jessy joined her. "Stop it. It is not funny. I have a right to be mad." Taylor said trying hard not to laugh with everyone else. Jessy pushed Chele towards him. Tay grabbed her before she tumbled to the floor. "Didn't I tell you Zac, she's falling for the guy. She almost did right there." Jessy said smirking at Tay. "Wait until it happens to you two." Tay warned. "Promise you'll help me to laugh it off big bro." Jessy asked. "Deal Lil Sis." Tay said pulling Chele to him. "Time to get dressed guys and gals. I've got to get used to this." Walker said. "Daddy thanks so much for dinner it was beautiful and we had a wonderful time." Jessy said kissing his cheek, and hugging him.. "Yep, thanks Dad, it was special. We won't forget it." Zac said hugging his father. "Jessy don't forget you promised to fix our hair." Ike reminded. "I didn't forget. Just let me know when and where." Jessy said. "Jason will come get you and bring you to the dressing rooms probably twenty minutes." the guys said and headed out. Jessy nodded yes as they left. She stayed behind and put away laundry and delivered the other bag to Mom. "That dinner was you wasn't it. It was so beautiful, Zac was so touched by the gesture he beamed and such a gentleman. Thanks Mom you made it a night to remember." Jessy said hugging her. "Hey where's Zoe's crib?" she asked. "Jessie took what you said to heart, wants to earn money of her own. Thanks to her big sister." Mom said. "You better get ready." Mom said. "Can't yet I have to do the guys hair before I can get dressed I don't want Zac to see my outfit." Jessy explained and the knock at the door was Jason. "See you Mom." They made their way to the dressing rooms and she did Zac's, who was dressed except his shirt. When she finished him, she did Tay's and finally Ike was out wrapped in a towel. Jessy took extra care on him, making sure the world, at least Detroit, could see the Hottie he is. She plugged her nose at Taylor's choice of striped pants and helped Ike pick out something hot. "Thank God you can dress yourself. I love you, have a good show and look for us." Jessy said as Jason raced her back and Chele was stripping her down the minute she hit the door. "Come on wriggle out of those jeans." Mom yelled. Within minutes she was dressed and they made their way to their seats as the opening act was introduced.
