Barbie showered, changed and picked up the phone, dialing her doctors off. "Dr. Hunter's Office" Carol answered. "Carol, Barbie Kendall." Barbie said. "Barbie, hey how are you and Ken and the kids?" Carol asked. "Kids are great, Ken is great, Jessy's getting married, and I'm a mess." Barbie said. "Whoa. Jessy's getting married, she's what 16, 17? I hope that's not why you're calling." Carol asked tentatively. "No Jessy isn't pregnant, I am." Barbie said. "No Way. Oh that's wonderful. I mean if you want it to be it's wonderful." Carol said. "It's wonderful. Such a blessing, such a gift. Definitely had to work hard to deliver because I was careful. Really careful, I can only thing of one time." Barbie said. "It only takes one. You know that." Carol said. "So I need an appointment, soon. I'd also like to get Jessy in with her fiance, they have some decisions to make and Dave is just the person to talk to them. Oh I also need one for Chele and her fiance and one for Kristina and her fiance." Barbie said. "What all three girls are getting married. No Way." Carol said. "Yes way. To brothers to boot." Barbie said and Carol set an appointment for her tomorrow afternoon 4:30 and the girls in two weeks. "Thanks Carol. Tomorrow at 4:30, Dr. Hunter. I got it down. See you then." Barbie said looking up to see Ken standing in the doorway. "You actually did it. I can't believe it. Barbie is there something wrong, I mean do you think there is something wrong?" Ken asked. "I did this morning for a little while. Man I freaked so bad, I thought my world was coming to an end. That there was nothing I could do, totally hopeless." Barbie said getting up and grabbing Ken a bottle of beer and setting it on the table across from her. "That's when Zac took charge. Told me I needed facts before I go doom and gloom on him. He even helped me get the facts I needed. Sort of held my hand, you might say." Barbie said getting up to the oven timer. "Don't walk away. Why didn't you call me?" Ken asked impatiently. "I'm not walking away Ken. This morning yes I was going to pack up and run but I'm past that. Running won't change the facts. Ken I didn't call you because I was too afraid to. I was afraid enough to consider running." Barbie said. "I can't believe you're afraid of me." Ken said the hurt apparent. "I was afraid of hurting you, disappointing you, not afraid of you. I could never fear you Ken, I know how much you love me. You would do everything you possibly could to spare me pain." Barbie said. "What's wrong? Please tell me." Ken begged. "Ken I don't think anything is wrong, everything is just right." Barbie said totally confusing him and Ken hung his head, "Please tell me?" he asked with a quiver in his voice. "Ken do you remember the last thing you said to me this morning?" Barbie asked. "I love you. I always tell you I love you when I'm going to leave you." Ken said. "Except today almost in the same breath you said something else to me and you touched me." Barbie said walking towards him carrying two dinner plates. "Earlier you had commented, there was somethiing different about me." she said placing a plate in front of him then returned to her spot placing the other plate down. Barbie walked to the refrigerator once again, grabbing herself a bottled water. "You said Good bye Mrs. Kendall I love you. Then in the same breath." she was interrupted. "Bye baby. I said Bye baby and I placed my hand on your belly." Ken said in an anxious voice. "You do remember." Barbie said grabbing the bag off of the top of the fridge and returning to the table. "Well you know how dense I can be at times. That big clue went over my head. Like all the others, it was Zac saying the same thing as you had earlier that made the brain think. He said something is different about you. Just like you had, but this time I took the time to look, I saw it too. That's when I started putting things together. I freaked. I was so hard on myself." she said sadness in her eyes as she sat back down. Barbie couldn't stop the feelings of desperation she had felt earlier, as she closed her eyes they all came flooding back to her. She buried her face in her hands as the tears, flowed. "You took this test huh?" Ken asked and she shook her head yes. "Looks like you passed with flying colors." Ken said as she shook her head yes again. "How far along?" he asked and she raised one, two, and a half fingers. "Wow and we missed it. Done, over with and we didn't even know." Ken said as she nodded. "This is a lot easier than I thought." Ken laughed as he rose and made his way to his wife. He knelt beside her, "We're sorry. We weren't ignoring you. We just didn't know." Ken said kissing her belly as Barbie cried freely. "Don't cry. It's wonderful. Who would have ever thought we'd be so blessed." Ken said making her cry harder. "I'm sorry. You must have gone through hell worrying that I didn't want the baby. I was just afraid of something happening to you. I couldn't risk that just to be a daddy from the get go. Barbie forgive me. God knew I wanted to be a daddy didn't he?" Ken said hugging her tight. "Ken, you're going to squeeze it out if you don't stop hugging me so tight." she teased and he laughed. "The day you married me, I told you that you had made me the happiest man on earth. I had no idea what happy was." he said kissing her with his heart and soul. "Wow. You are happy." Barbie teased picking at her food. "I didn't know life could get any better. I can't wait to tell Walker and Diana. This will shut him up, he won't know what to say. Or do they know?" Ken asked. "Zac and the girl at the doctor office are the only people who know. Besides you, me and God." Barbie said reaching over him to eat. "What an appetite. You haven't eaten like this in along time. A real long time." Ken said. "Haven't been hungry until now. I want more." she said making a pouty face. "Here, have mine." Ken said reaching to the other side of the table, retrieving his plate and then returning to her lap, staring at her belly. "Can I go with you tomorrow you know to the doctor's?" Ken asked. "Of course you can, it's your baby too. You'll like Dave, Dr. Hunter." Barbie said he mouth full. "It's my baby too." Ken said placing his hand on her belly. "Tha's right and when you have to get up at 2am,or 4am, you remember this moment and how happy you are. You remember it's your baby too." Barbie laughed. "I can't wait. Do you hear me I can't wait for you to get big enough to come out so I can help take care of you too. I'm probably being silly." Ken said. "No you're not being silly Ken. Talking to the baby is just being a good daddy. Now expecting an answer, that'd be silly." she giggled, adding, "I'm stuffed, sure hope you didn't want this. There's not much left. I want something else," Barbie said. "What? I'll get it for you." Ken said rising from the floor. "I don't know. But I want it bad." she said with a puzzled look on her face. "Come on we better figure out what it is." he said pulling her to her feet and moving her to the refrigerator, opening the door. "A dill pickle?" he asked. "No ummm sweet pickles." Barbie said grabbing the jar moving to the far counter making a chunky peanut butter sandwich covering it with sweet pickles. "Ummmm" she said taking a big bite and walking back and grabbing the milk jug. "Mine" she snapped when she found him looking at her sandwich. "You have nothing to fear. No one is going to take your sandwich. No one." Ken laughed. "Don't cry I didn't mean it that way. Man I'm lousy at this. Barbie I'm sorry please don't cry. I'll learn to keep my mouth shut or just leave my foot in it." Ken apologized. "Look I didn't mean it see." Ken said picing up the sandwich and taking a bite. "Umm not bad." he exclaimed with a full mouth. "Make me one?" he asked getting down two glasses and pouring the milk, putting it away and the jar of pickles she passed him. Ken returned to her lifted her, placing her on the counter, next to his sandwich with a bite taken out of it. "You had a bite of mine." she explained with her mouth full. The talked about all the ifs, what ifs, whens, whys they could think of. "I know. Come with me." Ken said lifting her down and taking her hand. He led her outdoors grabbing a chair and moving towards the car barn. "Here you sit here a minute." Ken said rushing to the garage, punching in the code to unlock the door. He reappeared with a box and some sort of metal tube thing. He set it up and launched the first firework. "Wheee. Ooooh" she squealed clapping her hands. He sent them skywards, one after the other. "What's this for. Dad I'll launch them." Nick said. "No I want to." Ben said. "Just be careful boys. Give us a good show." Ken said walking to his wife, picking her up and sitting down, placing her in his lap. "Celebrating?" Zac asked as Barbie nodded watching the sky. "Grab chairs kids, join us." Ken said. "Zac? Thanks for being there for her son. We both appreciate it." Ken said burying his face in her hair, hugging her tighter. "Pop" Barbie giggled and he loosened his grip. "No problem. Anytime Momma, Dad." Zac said sitting down and pulling Jessy to his lap, hugging her tight. "Ken I want something." Barbie asked. "What? Hungry, thirsty, cold?" he asked. "No I want you, us to support the girls until their wedding. I want them quit working and stay home, planning their own wedding. You know them do all the work, make all the decisions. Them not me. I really don't want the headache right now babe, I have something more important to do." Barbie said rubbing his hand caresing her belly. "Jessy, Chele I need you girls to do something for me. I need you two to quit your job at Zats and stay home and plan your weddings, so you mother isn't left with everything. I'll pay off both of your car notes if you'll do this for me. I'll pay your bills until your husbands start paying them and I'll give you a generous allowance for doing it. I expect you to do the work, make the decisions, not just dump it on your mother." Ken explained. "You got a deal daddy. Thanks I really wanted to plan the wedding. This way I won't hate it. Thanks Daddy." Jessy said. "Daddy you're the greatest. Thanks" Chele said. "Kristina you don't have a job to quit, and I expect you to continue your schooling, but I'll pay off your car, pay your bills and give you an allowance. You're my little girl too." Ken said. "Daddy you don't have to." Kristina said. "I know that, I want to. We want to, right mother." Ken asked. "You know we do Kristina, you're our baby too." Barbie said. "Thanks Momma." Kristina said. "That's the last one." Nick said. "Awwwww" Barbie pouted. "I want ice cream." she quickly stated. "Me too, sounds good." Jessy said. "Oh I want a sundae." Chele said. "Banana Split" Kristina said. "God help me." Ken said. "Zac go get the large van and pick us up son. We have ice cream to find." Ken said. "Potty time" Barbie squealed racing to the house. "Me too" the girls echoed and raced after her. The guy cleaned up and put the chairs back, picked up the girls and headed to the van. The made to the Ice Cream Parlor in time to order to go items and they say at the outside tables eating. They discussed the wedding and tour. "Daddy you ought to take some time off and come with us. Momma would love it down under. "No flying for me." Barbie whispered as she stole a taste of Ken's ice cream. "Woman that's mine. But have a taste if you want." Ken said changing his tune when he noticed the pouty lips. "Why thank you. Don't mind if I do." Barbie said scooping some hot fudge. "Ewww. Not it. I thought I wanted chocolate." Barbie said. "Here Momma taste mine." Zac offered. "Umm" Barbie said. "I'll trade you Momma." Zac said pushing his towards her. "Sure Zac?" Barbie aske. "Sure Momma." he said. "You're such a good son." Barbie said devouring the chocolate ice cream. "Jessy there's no way I could get away right then sweetie. We'll join you here in the States though for a few of them." Ken said. "Oh pooh. Momma you want to come without him?" Jessy asked. "Thanks baby, I can't imagine not being with him, you know now how impossible that would be. Why do you think you're getting married at sixteen, because it's what I want. Hell no. Oops." Barbie said sliding down in her chair. "They know it's not what we want Barbie, it's what we have to accept. Jessy needs to marry Zac now because of the rest of the world, not just them. We can't change how everyone else feels, we have to accept it and deal with it. We just want you two to know, we know how hard this will be on the two of you and we're here for you. No matter what, when, why always remember that the two of us believe in you and that everything will work out." Ken said. "Thanks Daddy." Jessy said rushing to his arms in tears. "That means everything to me that you believe in us Daddy." she cried harder. "We do baby. That Zac of yours is a real fine young man baby. I know he'll take good care of my little girl. I trust him even with you, baby girl." Ken said hugging her tight. "Daddy I know I told you no when you asked. But do you think we could go to the dance Saturday night?" Jessy asked. "Of course we can, mother you'll come? Let's all go. Formals, tuxedoes the whole sheebang. We can show off all the engagement rings to Tulsa'a elite. You game men?" Ken laughed. "Please Taylor?" Chele asked. "Isaac it would be so much fun." Kristina said. "Zac it looks like you're stuck with me." Barbie said. "My pleasure Momma." Zac smiled. They loaded up and headed back home, excited about the upcoming dance.
