Why'd You Have To Go

Part Three

The girls were up early and down to the beach, "Miss Jessy telephone." James called sending Jessy racing to the house, "Thank you James, Hello." Jessy said. "Jessy it's me Zac. Umm we're about to head to the studio but I had to ask you. Umm we're going to the San Diego Zoo tomorrow the hole family and I asked and Mom and Dad said it was okay if you came. Do you want to come with me?" Zac asked anxiously. "Sounds great Zac, let me ask Momma, hang on a minute, or do you want me to call you back. I'm not ready to be lynched because I held Hanson up from making it to the studio. Too many fans waiting on the next album to be released." Jessy teased writing down Zac's cell number. "Excuse me James have you seen my mother yet today?" Jessy asked to find out her mother was having breakfast in bed. Jessy raced upstairs to ask permission then called Zac back. "Hello." Zac answered. "Hey Zac. Momma said fine with her, what time?" Jessy asked and relayed the information to her mother. "Momma can Zac come over tonight, just to hang out together? Sis is going out with Taylor, so Zac could ride over with him and then home later." Jessy asked. "Yes dear but I had promised Greg to attend that restaurant opening in his place. I expect you to behave, no loud music, movies or video games. Keep the volume down and you pick up after yourselves. James is here but he is not your personal butler. Do for yourselves or the answer is no." Barbara insisted. "Thanks Momma. We'll be angels." Jessy answered heading back down stairs. "Zac what you doing tonight, would like to come over and keep me company. You'll be saving me, I was afraid Momma was going to make me go with her. Restaurant sounds nice but I'd rather spend time with you. We could go with Momma if you'd like but it a dress up affair." Jessy asked sitting on the steps. "I listened to you asking your Mom and I asked Dad he said it was fine if I came over while Tay is dating your sister. Jessy don't you want to swim or surf, I could bring our boards." Zac offered. "Sure that'd be fun. Zac you don't have to bring your boards because James told Greg that I learned to surf so he was sent out to buy us boards. He didn't know what to get so I think he bought out the store." Jessy laughed. "He didn't have to Greg owns a shop down on the Pier. He surfs Jessy so he's probably excited that you learned. You know he owns a surf camp down the beach from there don't you. That's how we met him." Zac explained. "No I didn't know. I didn't know he existed until he showed up at the funeral. Umm I gotta go Zac. Bye." Jessy said ending their conversation before the tears fell. Jessy forced herself to get up and go on with life, it's all she could figure out to do. Nothing could make it not true, her father killed himself and her four brothers and she wasn't about to let him destroy her too. "He's not going to kill me too." Jessy mumbled hanging up the phone and heading back to the beach, racing into the water so Chele couldn't tell she was crying again. "Goldsmith residence." James answered the phone watching as Jessy made her way to the water, watching as both girls were soon playing tag. "Hello again. It's Zac is Jessy okay? She hung up fast and I thought she was crying?" Zac asked. "Yes Zac. She's going to be fine, she's a fighter and as she put it, "He's not going to kill me too." I take it there was something said that reminded her of wha has happened? I noticed her sitting on the steps talking to you one minute and the next minute she was crying, silently like she does. Most people don't even notice her crying. Before I could get to her, she gave herself a pep talk about not letting him destroy her too and she made herself go on and raced back to the water to play with her sister, I'm watching her now, laughing and playing. Should I call her for you Zac." James asked. "No James. Thanks for keeping an eye on her." Zac said saying goodbye. "So what you wearing tonight?"Jessy asked. "I don't know, Taylor didn't say what we were doing." Chele replied and the girls decided to shop for the perfect outfit, racing to the house to ask and soon all three were dressed to the nines and headed out to shop. "David why are you stopping here?" Barbara called up front to ask. "Masters orders ma'am. I mean Greg's orders Barbara." David answered as the doorman opened the door and escorted the girls inside and they were pampered totally, comfortable couches, drinks, snacks and a private fashion show. "Chele that's it. You'll knock his socks off." Jessy insisted and soon Chele had been dressed in the outfit. "Momma it's perfect." Jessy insisted. "No sis it is not perfect." Chele answered walking her way. "Momma it's four hundred dollars." Chele whispered rolling her eyes, adding, "I'm trying so hard not to sweat. What if they make us buy it?" Chele started giggling, "We'll take it." Momma announced, whispering, "Go ahead and sweat baby." and they all laughed before Momma asked for something for Jessy's outing to the Zoo. Soon Jessy's outfit had been found and as she returned. "We're not done yet." Jessy said sitting back down as some simple evening wear, mostly black was modeled. "That is it." Chele said and Jessy agreed as they took Barbara to the dressing rooms. "She agrees, look at the smile." Jessy said. "We have such good taste." Chele boasted as Barbara headed back to change. When she returned, David appeared and escorted the girls to the front where David picked up the packages, "We're set ladies, everything has been taken care of. Did we all find what we were looking for or do I need to take you to another shop?" David asked. "No we've all found what we were looking for. Did Greg pay for the outfits?" Barbara asked. "Yes Ma'a, Barbara." David answered as he loaded them into the limo, driving them to a restaurant for lunch. They were picked up almost two hours later and delivered to a Salon for the works, more pamering and finally picked up about four and delivered home. "Ladies you look lovely, Ma'am, Barbara, could you please call the Master. His number is by the phone in your room, tell them who you are and they'll put your right through." James greeted them, adding, "Miss Jessy, Master Zac called and asked that you call him on his cell phone and Miss Chele Master Taylor called to see if he could pick you up at 6:30. If not you are to let Miss Jessy know who will tell Master Zac." "Wow. I'm tired just listening to it." Barbara said excusing herself and heading upstairs while Jessy grabbed the phone and dialed Zac. "Jessy?" Zac asked answering the phone. "Anxious to hear me or what?" Jessy teased. "Yeah. Umm did you hear that Tay is picking Chele up early and is it okay? I mean am I still invited?" Zac asked. "Of course you are Zac, why I'm thrilled we'll have more time together. Tell you what, I'll even make you dinner. What's your favorite, oh that's silly, Rex's chicken and Jello." Jessy teased. "Um Rex's is great but I'm sure I'll like Jessy's chicken and Jello just as much. I like all sorts of things Jessy, whatever you make will be fine with me." Zac assured her. "You are easy Zac. I think I'll try and woo you away from Rex and tempt you with my chicken. Man it's been so long since I cooked, this is going to be fun. What's your favorite vegetable?" Jessy asked. "Vegetable? I should know this one." Zac teased. "French fries huh?" Jessy teased. "Oh that's my favorite vegetable huh?" Zac asked laughing. "Oh so you count green jello as your vegetable?" Jessy asked and started giggling. "You take goofy pills or something babe?" Zac asked. "No I don't need drugs, I'm goofy naturally." Jessy teased. "Jessy I promise I'll eat anything you fix." Zac insisted. "Oohh this could be fun. Be good Jessy." Jessy said. "Oh no she talks to herself." Zac shared. "Only when I want to hear something important." Jessy teased. "You're funny Jessy." Zac suggested. "I'm a lot like you Zac, when I get nervous I kid around a lot." Jessy explained. "Jessy I don't mean to make you nervous. Honest." Zac insisted. "I know Zac but I never had a guy over and cooked for him. I mean we aren't going to be alone, but James is real good at watching without being seen. So I'm nervous, I want everything to be okay." Jessy confessed. "Jessy does that mean you like me? You know you want everything to go good and all." Zac asked. "Yeah Zac I guess I like you." Jessy answered. "Good cuz I like you too." Zac replied. "You do. That's nice Zac." Jessy answered him surprised but thrilled by his admission. "Yeah Jessy, nice, really nice." Zac expressed. "I think so. I better get busy or we'll be waiting on dinner." Jessy said saying goodbye and heading to the kitchen to prepare dinner for Zac. "No Louise I want to do it, please." Jessy begged when James spoke up on Jessy's behalf, giving Louise the rest of the day off. "Thanks James. I sure hope I can do this now." Jessy laughed. "I'm sure you'll do just fine Miss Jessy." James said getting out of her way. Things were smelling good and Jessy was cleaning up when her mother appeared, "Momma you look great." Jessy squealed. "DInner smells great, hope everything goes okay for you sweetie. I'm taking off now." Barbara said as Jessy finished and walked her out before heading upstairs to change. "Whoa. Poor Taylor, he hasn't got a chance." Jessy said as she stopped at Chele's room. "That's the idea, isn't it?" Chele teased. "No Duh! That's Jordan Taylor Hanson we're talking about. You dreamed of this like forever. Who'd have thought. And me I'm cooking supper for Zac. Ouch! I'm awake." Jessy squealed pinching herself. "Silly. What you going to wear?" Chele asked. "Wait a minute and I'll show you." Jessy said racing to her room, pulling off her clothes and tossing them the hamper and slipped into a bikini and a matching skirt. "Whoa. Jessy are you sure?" Chele asked her eyes wide open at the sight. "Zac's idea. He wants to go swimming, so he has to look at this and not touch, nasty huh?" Jessy giggled. "Is he going to be sorry." Chele expressed, "I better go check on supper." Jessy said heading down the back stairs as James answered the front door. "Miss Chele?" the intercom sounded. "Yes James." Chele answered. "Master Taylor is here for you Miss Chele." James announced. "Thank you James, I'll be right down." Chele answered and headed to the stairs. "Wow. Chele you look fantastic." Taylor said gawking. "Thanks Taylor." Chele said. "He's right you look awesome. Where's Jessy?" Zac said looking for her. "Thanks Zac, sis was headed to the kitchen to check on dinner, lasts I knew. Do you know the way, I'll show you." Chele said brushing against Taylor before leading the two to the kitchen, "Sis?" Chele called out opening the door. "Yes you can borrow whatever you need." Jessy answered, adding, "Perfect." "Wow. You're right, it looks good enough to eat." Chele said. "You can say that again." Zac agreed staring at Jessy not the dessert she was making. "Want to spoil dinner, there's plenty." Jessy offered putting three of the six desserts in the fridge and pulling out spoons. "You're not having one?" Zac asked before taking his first bite and moaning his pleasure. "Zac I'm a taster and let me tell you dinner tastes great." Jessy giggled as Taylor and Chele both moaned their delight. "Man you guys are cheap dates, a box of Jello and some whipped topping." Jessy said cleaning up after herself, "Zac I thought we were going surfing?" she asked. "I got my suit on." Zac answered pulling up his shirt and as he started to unbutton his jeans, "Hun not in front of my sister. You'll give her ideas and then your poor brother has to fend her off all night long. Poor Taylor." Jessy said slipping in front of Zac buttoning his jeans, smoothing his shirt back down. "Poor Taylor, you mean poor Zac. Having to look at you in that. He'll end up with a lap full of food and starve to death gawking at those." Chele said pointing at Jessy's breasts. "Zac that's not true, tell her you wouldn't stare at my breasts." Jessy asked turning back towards Zac who stared at her breasts then, "Do I gotta Jessy. I wouldn't mind a lap full of food. I really don't think I'd starve to death." Zac pouted "Hey wait a minute, he's eating just fine. See no jello in his lap." Jessy said moving out of the way. "See I'm a big boy, I know how to eat." Zac teased. "Fine then but just remember mister, Jessy is not on the menu." Chele warned. "Don't listen to her Zac, I prepared the meal not her, she doesn't know what's on the menu." Jessy teased back. "Fine then, Taylor do you mind if we stay home tonight?" Chele asked turning to Taylor winking at him. "If you think it's necessary baby we can stay home." Taylor answered. "Fine by me, there's enough food and enough surf boards. Hun we're having company over for dinner." Jessy said turning to Zac and winking. "That's fine sweetheart. They're in for a treat, you're a great cook." Zac said kissing her cheek. "Enough! You two behave and you, come with me." Taylor said warning Zac and grabbing Chele's hand and leaving as Zac and Jessy headed to the beach to surf, finally returning to eat dinner by candlelight on the patio. "Sorry it's so done it's falling apart, but I was having too much fun. I really like surfing Zac, thanks for teaching me." Jessy said of the chicken falling off the bones. "It's okay. It's called Rex's Boneless Chicken Jessy. I really enjoyed surfing with you too." Zac said walking up behind her and hugging her. "Thanks Zac. Could you grab our glasses and get us something to drink. I'll take milk, growing bones you know." Jessy asked as she prepared their plates taking them to the patio. "Great view Zac, look the sun is setting." Jessy called into him. "Yeah it sure is." Zac whispered and Jessy turned to see him staring at her. "Zac you're good at this." Jessy said. "What?" Zac said startled as his eyes finally left her body for her face, adding, "What am I good at?" Zac became unnerved as his face turned red and his hands began to tremble. "It's okay Zac." Jessy said taking the glasses in her hands to stop the trembling returning to him after placing the glasses on the table. "Zac it's okay that you were looking at me instead of the sunset. I didn't mean that, I guess I did. Zac it was such a perfect "line" I assumed you were a player but I take it you really meant it. You must think I'm worth looking at because that is absolutely beautiful. God sure is a great Creator to come up with that." Jessy said so sincerely. "You're right that is almost as beautiful as you. I mean, I do mean it Jessy. You're so pretty." Zac insisted. "Thank you for saying so Zac, but that beauty will be gone soon, and I don't plan on leaving you anytime to soon." Jessy said snuggling in front of him gazing at the setting sun as Zac wrapped her in his arms. "This is nice in here. Thanks Zac." Jessy whispered. "My pleasure Jessy, you're welcome here anytime you need it." Zac whispered back, kissing her cheek. After the sun set they sat by candlelight eating dinner. "James, there's plenty leftover, I'm glad you came down." Jessy said when she noticed him. "Miss Jessy I didn't mean to intrude." James apologized. "You're not intruding. She's a real good cook, you ought to have some. Join us if you want." Zac offered causing Jessy to smile. "Master Zac such a kind offer. I'd love to try Jessy's cooking but I'll return to my room and leave you two alone to get to know each other." James said gettig a plate down. "I'm going to have seconds if you don't mind Jessy." Zac said picking up his plate and heading in. He and James spoke a little while, once smiling big and both gazing at Jessy and she worried what had been said, she did live with James, he could know so much embarassing stuff about her. "Nah he wouldn't." Jessy thought to herself and went back to eating her meal, "Thank you again Miss Jessy." James said as he left. "Here I even brought you another piece." Zac said placing more chicken on her plate. "It did turn out good. Thanks Zac." Jessy said. "Good. This is better than Rex's but don't let them know until you're ready to come stay with me and cook chicken for me." Zac insisted. "I really hadn't considered live in cook as a career Zac. I'd like to be an Attorney, defending children's right, or a Pediatrician, or a Marine Biologist. Personal cook to Zac Hanson you say?" Jessy asked as they started to laugh. Zac helped clean up the table and the two took there desserts down to the beach, wading while they ate. Zac took the dishes and Jessy's skirt to the table, taking off his shirt and the two swam in the moonlight. "Sorry I was reaching for your hand." Zac said as he brushed against her breast. "You want my hand huh? Make sure you return it." Jessy teased reaching for his hand. "Whoops. This is harder then it looks. Sorry." Jessy said as they both started laughing. "Here see my hand." Jessy said raising it out of the water. "It looks so small." Zac whispered as he wrapped his hand around it. "I've got another one just like it." Jessy teased placing her other hand in the air. "Wow. You got two too." Zac teased taking her hand in his, gazing at her then finally leaning towards her and kissing her sweetly as they heard their names called and both moaned. "That's your brother and my sister, guess you gotta go." Jessy complained. "They got lousy timing." Zac pouted as he led her to the table, dressing and grabbing their dishes before heading up. They found them in the kitchen with the leftovers out, "We should have stayed. This is good Jessy." Taylor said. "You were invited. Right Zac." Jessy replied. "Sure were bro, she said there was enough food and surfboards. The waves were great." Zac teased. "We had a blast. I really love surfing. Thanks again Zac for teaching me how." Jessy said hugging him tight as Zac kissed her forehead. "Anything babe. I'd do anything for you, just ask." Zac said causing Jessy to look up at him, gazing into his warm brown eyes. "Still trying to get me to take the personal cook job heh?" Jessy said to stop her urge to kiss him. "Personal cook huh? Man Jessy take the job, you're good. Mom would love it wouldn't she Zac." Taylor shared. "I was joking." Jessy said walking to the refrigerator for the last of the desserts, handing them out and taking hers and a spoon, "Be right back." Jessy said heading to James room, delivering him a dessert and returning with his dirty dishes. "You gave yours to James?" Zac asked as Jessy put the dishes into the dishwasher. "Yeah hun, he'll enjoy it more than I would have." Jessy shared as she cleared up their dinner table on the patio. "We got to get going Jessy. We'll be here by seven to pick you up okay?" Zac asked walking up behind her. "That's fine Zac. I'll be ready. I can't wait." Jessy answered as Zac picked up the dishes she'd piled up and head to the kitchen. Jessy grabbed the candlestickes and table cloth and headed after him, "Zac that was so nice of you. Thanks." Jessy said kissing his cheek. "I meant it when I said I'd do anything for you." Zac said reaching for her hand and they both laughed. "I had a great time Jessy, I'll see you in the morning." Zac said squeezing her hand. "I'll be waiting for you. Thanks for including me Zac." Jessy said kissing him lightly. "I'm so glad you're coming." Zac said. "Wish you'd come." Taylor pouted. "Tay I told you I already had plans. It would be rude to cancel even though I know I'd have more fun with you. Serves me right for accepting his offer to see LA. Don't have too much fun without me." Chele said gazing into his bright blue eyes, kissing her finger and placing it to his lips. "How can I have fun, I'll be thinking about you with old jerk next door." Taylor complained. "Tay we've already gone over it and I'm not dumping him at the last minute even though I have met Jordan Taylor Hanson." Chele argue and stormed off with Taylor on her heels. "Whoa. Touchy subject I'd say. Jessy dinner was great and you are so much fun to be with. I had a really great time." Zac said wrapping his arms around her drawing her to him pressing his lips to hers, "Zac let's go. Now." Taylor hollered, adding, "Oh sorry but we really got to go before she never forgives me. I shouldn't be jealous, I know it but this is killing me." Taylor smacked the wall as he left, "Babe I better go. See you in the morning." Zac said kissing her sweetly and heading after his brother. "Wait Zac." Jessy called racing after him taking his hand, walking him out . "Tay you know she doesn't care for the guy next door. She just ran out of polite ways of saying no and this is sort of a friendship offer more than a date, that's why she finally said yes." Jessy said hugging, adding, "How was she to know she'd meet the man of her dreams." "Who? Me?" Taylor asked shocked. "Don't tell her I told you but this afternoon she said she hoped you'd like her half as much as she likes you. She said you were the nicest, kindest guy she'd ever met, that she thought it was genetically impossible for a guy to be anything but a jerk, but Taylor was proving her wrong. Taylor that's you right?" Jessy explained. "Great and now I'm acting like a jerk." Taylor worried grabbing a pen and a piece of paper, scribbling something, folding it writing Chele on the outside and handing it to Jessy. "Giver her this for me would you?" he asked. "Sure big brother. Goodnight Zac I'm so glad you came." Jessy said kissing Taylor's cheek, then Zac's. "Goodnight Jessy. See you in the morning." Zac said kissing her sweetly before climbing in the van. "Want me to call you before we head this way?" Zac asked. "Okay. I sure would hate to oversleep and miss it. Thanks, talk to you in the morning." Jessy said backing away and waving as they left. Jessy made a beeline to Chele's room, delivering the note before heading to her room. She was in the shower when Chele came in to share what Taylor had written, "I was just thinking he was a jerk like all the other's when he goes and does this. Jessy he's just so wonderul." Chele exclaimed sharing their date and how much she really liked him. "You know if I was you I wouldn't miss the chance to let him know I'd rather be with him, but just being fair. I'd get up and say good morning and remind him the neighbor is just that a neighbor, when he and his family come to pick up your sister at 7am." Jessy suggested. "I can always go back to bed when you leave, I'll do it. I'll lay my clothes out, will you wake me?" Chele asked. "For Taylor Hanson , you bet." Jessy kidded and they both headed to bed.
