Why'd You Have To Go

Part One

"Come on girls, move it. I'm not telling you again, stop gawking and keep up." Barbara called out. "Momma look at all the people though." Jessy complained. "Sis I'm not sure if that qualifies as a person." Chele giggled doing a double take at, she wasn't sure. "Come on Sis, she's trying to ditch us let's get even. Mommy. Mommy. I lost my Mommy." Jessy cried out acting like a child. "Don't leave me. You know I can't see." Chele hollered grabbing onto the back of a stranger's shirt, adding, "I got you now Sis. Whoa you smell nice but manly Sis." "Excuse me babe. I'm not you Sis but don't panic. I'll help you find her. Excuse me did anyone lose there blind sister?" he called out. "Oh my. Jessy. Jessy. You have to find her, she's, well she's different. Doesn't look it, Momma says she's a knock out but a little touched." Chele said touching her head. "Did Momma say what she looked like?" he asked. "Um a blonde brick shithouse is what she said but I don't know what that looks like either. Never saw one before I went blind." Chele answered. "So she's a knockout without a full load?" he asked. "I don't know, what's that?" Chele asked. "I think I see her, over this way. What's her name?" he asked. "Jessy." Chele replied. "Jessy? Hey Jessy. Are you Jessy?" he asked. "Uh huh." Jessy said nodding her head and giggling, adding, "I'm not talking to you. Not suppose to talk to strangers." "Jessy. Sis." Chele called out. "Sis." Jessy squealed hugging her. "I lost Mommy. I lost Sis. Now find Sis." Jessy whispered pouting then smiling. "Jessy we need to find the luggage area. Do you see any picture signs on the ceiling? Do you see a picture of a suitcase?" Chele asked. "Uh huh?" Jessy answered. "Remember how to follow arrows, like when Momma and you play Chutes and Ladders, follow the suitcase arrows." Chele said grabbing the back of Jessy's tank pulling it even tight and Jessy was off walking quickly from sign to sign, stopping at each one befor rushing off to the next one. "For God's sake. No girls. Come on take the luggage and let's find the car it should be here." Barbara ordered shaking her head and they loaded up and headed out the front, looking for their ride. "Goldsmith, there it is. Come on girls." Barbara said as the girls made their way to the limo with 'Goldsmith' sign. "Barbara?" the driver asked. "Yes. Barbara and this is Chele and Jessy, my daughters." she introduced as they loaded their luggage into the trunk and climbed in. "Has Greg returned yet?" Barbara asked. "No ma'am he's still in Hong Kong. Said to tell you he was deeply sorry and trying to get back here. Anything you may need or want ma'am just let us know. Our instructions are to spoil you rotten ma'am." the driver answered. "I'd rather Greg was here." Barbara said crawling in the limo and they made their way to Greg's beach house. "Wow this is great. Look sis, the ocean." Jessy exclaimed. "I see. I can't believe it though Sis. It's a dream come true. You, Me the ocean, new bikinis." Chele teased as the driver pulled of the main road, entering a gated community, pulling up to the largest house. "Wow Momma your friend is doing quite well for himself." Jessy said as the driver opened the door. "Ma'am I forgot to tell you, Mr. Goldsmith has some business acquaintences using the beach. A real nice family." the driver said as he opened the door and they headed to the house greeted by the butler. "Welcome, for you ma'am from Mr. Goldsmith. If you'll follow me I'll show you the house then to your rooms." he said. "Excuse me, your name please?" Barbara asked. "Excuse me ma'am I'm James, the cook is Louise, and the driver is David ma'am." James answered. "Well James, I'm Barbara, my daughters Chele and Jessy." she explained. "Very well ma'am, I mean Barbara. This way ladies." James said taking them on a tour of the house, introducing them to the cook before showing them to their rooms. "Momma we want to swim, please?" Jessy asked. "Fine. Get suited up and I'll join you." Barbara said and they all dressed for the beach. Barbara opted for a lounge chair under an umbrella as Chele and Jessy ran into the water squealing, having fun and attracting attention, lots of attention. Attention of the male persuasion. The neighbors on one side had sons younger who were smitten at first sight, offering to teach the girls to surf and on the other side the sons were older, both asking for dates. "Sorry can't date not old enough according to lord Momma." Jessy answered. "That's true. I'm old enough but I can't leave Jessy alone on our first night in LA." Chele answered. "That's cool, maybe later. How long you gurls staying?" the neighbor asked. "We're here for the summer at least." Chele answered as Jessy tried out a boogie board. "Cool Sis. You gotta try this." Jessy called to her and soon they were having a blast before taking a dip then building sand castles. "Aahh I see a pail and shovel." Jessy squealed racing towards the house and rushing back and they began building it bigger and bigger. "Excuse me ma'am." James called out. "It's Barbara. What do you need James?" Barbara reminded as she made her way to the house. "Girls I'm going in for a minute." she called out. "Momma crank it up before you leave." Jessy asked. "You'll turn it down if the neighbors complain. No questions just apologize and do it." Barbara insisted. "Thanks we will." Chele promised as Hanson 'Beginnings' blared. As 'Back to The Island' began, "Sis watch this. I rented a video." Jessy exclaimed dancing hula like. "Jessy! Dang I didn't know that was physically possible." Chele insisted. "It's easy." Jessy said doing the moves in slow motion and soon they were both building back up to speed, giggling and laughing, "This is not going to be easy. I had no idea, Greg never told me but why would he think to. We haven't seen each other in years actually since we were juniors in High School. Up until then we were inseperable to say the least, we practically grew up together then his father was transferred. We wrote until I got married and he refused to speak to me anymore. Way more than you wanted to know. My problem is on the beach now. Chele and Jessy." she finished and they all moved to the deck and watched the girls dancing. "They're playing our music." Isaac exclaimed. "24/7. Both are obsessed and that's being polite. But you know that's not my problem it's yours and theirs so guys the one in blue is Jessy, 22 days younger than you Zac and the one in red is Chele and she's two months older than you Tay. The'll probably scream and worship, it's you guys problem. You convince them your ordinary guys." Barbara said heading back inside, excusing herself. "Did we say something to offend her?" Diana asked and James explained that she had recently lost her four sons in an automobile accident and most likely the family reminded her of what she lost. "The master quit speaking to her when she married but did lose track of her. She was in the process of a divorce when the ex took off with the four boys and they never returned. He went to the funeral and begged her to come. She waited until school was over and she and Miss Jessy flew to pick up Miss Chele and they made their way here this morning. It hasn't been two months since the accident so you'll have to forgive her, it's nothing personal." James finished, adding, "If you''ll excuse me. I need to check on her. The girls are quite charming." The family stood discussing whether they should leave and didn't notice Zoe toddle off to the ocean. "Wow. You sure are cute. Hi I'm Jessy and this is my big sister Chele. Who are you?" Jessy asked as Zoe stood and pointed at the water. "You like the water?" Chele asked and Zoe stuck up her hand. "Sure we'll take you in. Where's Mommy?" Chele asked and Zoe pointed at the house then stuck her other hand at Jessy and all three headed to the water's edge. The three walked into the water, the girls lifting her over the waves and soon were giggling and having fun. After awhile the girls taught her to put her face in the water, then to go underwater, and finally to swim underwater between the two of the them. They were so busy with their new little friend, they didn't notice the Hanson family make their way to the beach, "Girls this is just wonderful. I never would have imagined she could do this." Walker said as the rest of them sat at the table or in the chairs a distance back. "Oh she's smart. A very smart young lady who swims like a fish. You must be Daddy. Is this Daddy?" Jessy asked her as she surfaced and Jessy picked up Zoe and turned to him, adding, "I'm Jessy and this is my sister.." Jessy stopped staring at him. "Jessy that's rude. My name is Chele said offering her hand turning to Jessy who now was staring at Zoe, then Walker, then at the beach, squinting into the sun, raising her hand to shade her eyes still not being able to see. "I think the younger one knows. Look she's staring this way." Isaac said. "Just sit until your father motions to you." Diana reminded turning to them her long hair swinging in Jessy's view. "It's, it's...." Jessy stuttered. "Jessy what is it? Are you okay sis?" Chele asked. "Hi Zoe." Jessy said to her, adding, "Hi Mr. Hanson. It's been awhile, about a year. We met in Detroit, at the Palace, well your camera and my jumping into the drive in front of the bus on the way out. I was the sacrifice to get the bus stopped until I saw your camera and got out of the way. Boy was I unpopular, the were going to swarm the bus when I got the driver to stop." Jessy explained laughing. "Mr Hanson! Sis you been in the sun too long." Chele teased staring at Walker again, "Oh my God, it is you. Man you and your wife have raised some of the nicest kids and the oldest three are so talented. Man, they rock. I, we, both are fans, big time." Chele explained as Zoe lost patience with talking and insisted to swim and soon the three had her swimming between her. "Diana you have to see this dear." Walker called out, adding as she arrived, "Jessy and Chele, Zoe's new friends." "Hey Mrs. Hanson. Show her Zoe." Chele said as she sent Zoe swimming to Jessy. "Ready to swim to Mommy?" Jessy asked as she headed Zoe to Diana as Mackie, Jessie and Avie arrived so excited over Zoe's accomplishment. "Can she swim to me too?" Jessie asked as Zoe swimmed to Walker. "Sure Jessie, take my place." Chele said moving her in front of her and telling her what to do as Avie moved to Jessy. "You want to try Avie?" Jessy asked. "Yeah but will you stay with me and help?" Avie asked. "Sure I'll help until you feel confident about it. Zoe pretty trusting." Jessy said as Chele moved towards Mackie who was staring at their sand castle, "Sis and I made it. A couple of big kids huh?" Chele asked. "You did good. Mine always fall down." Mackie said turning to look at her, adding, "You pretty." "Why thank you. You're nice. I bet you don't pack your sand hard enough. Got to pack it hard, especially when you start." Chele explained and the two start a new tower as Isaac approached. "Hey I'm.." he started to say. "Hey Isaac. I'm Chele and a fan so I know who you are." Chele said dusting the sand from her hands and extending it. "Nice meeting you Chele. You guys build this?" he asked. "Yeah Sis and I did earlier. It's the first time we've been to the beach together and we sort of got carried away, in a big, big way." Chele answered, giggling as she stood back and looked at it. "Umm I didn't realize it was so big. Really big." she added laughing. "Had you considered renting it out? I wouldn't mind not having that long drive over here. Man we got stuck in traffic one day. Nine in a van, not a pleasant sight." Isaac teased. "Oh you talked about it on the hotline. You were coming here? Cool." Chele said as Zac made his way over introducing himself, "Do you think it would be okay if I went to see Zoe swimming? I don't want to mess things up." Zac asked. "Sure Zac, come with me. I'll introduce you, I don't think she'll scream around Zoe. We're pretty respectful of your family, well the devoted fans are." Chele said taking him by the hand and heading to Jessy. "Hey Sis, Zac wants to help can you show him, I'm building a tower with Mackie, otherwise I would." Chele said. "Uh sure, okay Avie, you've been doing really good." Jessy asked and soon she was explaining to Zac, waiting for Zoe to swim to him. "Way to go Zoe. You're doing great sis." Zac congratulated picking her up and kissing her, "Me do." Zoe said kicking the water. "Swim to Jessy then." Zac said as Jessy moved away and Zac sent her swimming. "You should be getting tired my little mermaid." Jessy said lifting her from the water as Zoe laid her head on Jessy's chest. "Are you tired? We can always swim another time. Want to play in the sand with Chele and Mackie?" Jessy asked, adding, "Want to go to Mommy and Daddy first?" "No you." Zoe insisted. "Well Mommy and Daddy you can go swim and have fun then. Zoe and I have a date in the sand. Let's dry you off first or you'll turn into a sand monster." Jessy said headining to the table. "Hey Tay, not going to swim? I'm Jessy." she said grabbing a towel, sitting and placing Zoe in her lap and drying her off. "I was, I mean I didn't want to, you were here first and I didn't want to cause you to leave is all." Tay finally said. "I think Sis can handle it and you didn't send me running or screaming. What am I saying, you're Taylor Hanson. Man, I really love you guys music. Thanks for sharing, you guys are good. I'm proud to be a fan." Jessy said. "Man Jessy that was nice. You're welcome but it's just what we love doing you know. It's who we are." Tay said. "Yeah but you didn't have to share. You didn't have to let us make life miserable with the screaming, the stalking, the trespassing and everything else. I'm really sorry, I just hope you guys are all strong enough to not let it stop you. That would be such a shame, such a waste." Jessy shared. "Yeah it would. Man we love to sing." Tay replied. "There you go Zoe ready to play in the sand? Tay I'm sure it would be okay, I'll introduce you if you'd like, or just go swim with Zac." Jessy said heading towards Chele. "Sis Tay is still sitting there afraid you can't handle him being around us. Man is he polite." Jessy said as Chele dusted off and headed his way. "Taylor Hanson don't sit there like a lump. I promise not to swoon, scream, attack or any of that stuff I'd love to do right now. I'm Chele." she said extending her hand. "Hey Chele. Jessy made you say that huh?" Taylor teased. "Man she threatened me if I didn't behave." Chele teased laughing, adding, "Well I have a hot date with Mackie so I better be getting back." "Wait! Can I go with you?" Taylor asked. "Sure you can." Chele said extending her hand and Taylor took it in hers and they headed over to join the rest. Thanks to Zoe, their first meeting didn't end the way they had imagined, neither totally embarassed themselves, fainted or wet themselves. Actually, Jessy left the sand to ride the boogie board again and soon was joined by the others all taking a turn at it. As the waves swelled, Isaac, Taylor and Zac grabbed surf boards and made their way out. "Wow you guys are pretty good." Jessy said as Zac made it in. "Thanks. You can use my board if you want." Zac said. "I don't know how Zac. It looks like fun though." Jessy replied and he offered to show her how. "I feel like a drowned rat. I've had enough surfing for today." Jessy said spitting water at him. "You did really good Jessy for your first time. You'll be surfing in no time." Zac said smiling. "Oh you have to say that otherwise it makes you look bad teacher." Jessy said splashing water at him. "Hey." Zac replied splashing water at her and they declared war, splashing, dunking, and squealing. "I give. I give." Jessy conceded surfacing, coughing. "Jessy I'm sorry, you okay?" Zac said making it her way. "Sucker." Jessy screamed sweeping his legs out from under him and pushing him under, racing off after his board and paddling out. "Hey Jessy. Ready to try it?" Taylor asked. "Um. No. Hiding from your brother." Jessy answered, giggling. "Oh you two were playing. I thought you were fighting over the board and figured you won." Taylor teased. "You were doing pretty good up on shore. You sure you don't want to try?" Isaac asked and they persuaded her to try and helped her pick out a wave and she found with the momentum of the way pushing the board it was easier to keep her balance and she was up, squealing , "Zac you never taught me how to stop, besides falling off." Jessy yelled. "Go back down on you knees and then lay back down. One fluid motion Jessy." Zac yelled back. "Yes. Yes." Jessy squealed as she got back down. "Wow. That was so awesome. Thanks Zac you're a great teacher." Jessy said making her way to Zac, throwing her arms around him, hugging him tight. "You were great Jessy." Zac shared hugging her back. "I had a good teacher." Jessy said kissing his cheek as Zac turned his head, his lips finding hers as Jessy gasped."I'm sorry Jessy. I couldn't help myself." Zac confessed. "It's okay Zac. I liked it." Jessy replied, blushing and turning away, adding, "Zac you ought to go out with your brothers, the waves are getting good." "Only if you watch." Zac insisted. "Boy that's a toughy, me having to watch you." Jessy blushed again. "Yeah but not as much fun as me watching you." Zac said leaning in close and kissing her again. "Ewww he kissed her." Avie declared. "Cool." Jessie exclaimed. "Cool." Jessy whispered as Zac, kissed her again before climbing on his board and paddling out. "So you think it's ewwy to be kissed by a boy huh?" Jessy asked splashing Avie. They enjoyed themselves while Jessy kept an eye on Zac. "Guys it's time to head home." Walker called out and the guys all caught a wave in. "Great rides guys." Jessy said heading to shore. "Jessy wait. Umm. Umm." Zac said as he caught up with Jessy. "What Zac?" Jessy asked. "Nothing." Zac mumbled and turned away. "Oh, okay." Jessy replied turning away. "Hey babe. You up to a movie or something?" Taylor asked. "Are you asking me out?" Chele asked. "Yeah babe." Taylor replied. "Oh just checking. Wasn't really sure." Chele explained. "So?" Taylor said. "Taylor Hanson in front of a camer you can't shut up and to me you hardly say two words. Why will you talk to the world and not me?" Chele asked. "I, I guess I don't care about the rest of the world, only you." Taylor answered turning red, and looking at the ground. "Awww. Taylor that's the nicest thing. I can't believe you said that. Yes Tay, I'd love to go out with you." Chele answered. "You will. Great. When? What do you want to do?" Taylor asked. "Hun I don't care. My calendar is pretty much open but the sooner the better and I'm up for anything as long as I'm with you." Chele answered smiling sweetly. "Aaah. Aaah. Aaah" Taylor said. "Baby pull it together. It'll be okay." Chele said smiling sweetly and lightly stroking his hand. "I, I.." Taylor said taking her hand and gazing into her warm brown eyes. "I'm so glad you said yes. Friday night?" Taylor asked. "That's tomorrow night. Okay by me." Chele answered. "Can I call you babe?" Taylor asked. "You better." Chele teased kissing him sweetly leaving him totally blown away as she made her way to Mackie kissing him goodbye before saying goodbye to everyone else with Jessy until Zac came over and Jessy headed off. "What's up with her?" Chele asked as Zac looked at the ground and headed towards the house. "What happened?" Chele asked. "You got me." Taylor answered. "No idea." Isaac said. "I better catch up with her. Buy guys." Chele said waving goodbye.
