Don't Accuse

Chapter One

"I'll give you 110% Mr. King. You won't be disappointed you gave me this chance." Jessy said. "I certainly hope not. I'm a pretty good judge of character and I had no idea the girl before you would just up and quit. Leaving me high and dry like this." Mr. King said. "Just draw me a map how to get there and give me the owners's do list , and I prove it to you." Jessy said and within minutes she was on her way. She followed the map and pulled up in the drive, "Nice house man. But who else could pay to have someone babysit your house." Jessy thought bringing a smile to her face. She followed the instructions on how to get in without turning on the alarm system and entered the house, "Hey House It's Me. You ain't alone anymore." Jessy said and headed to the closet for the cleaning supplies. Loaded with her weapons of choice, Jessy slipped on her portable CD player, loaded in her favorite music, slipped her headphones on and got to work, starting upstairs. Jessy dusted the hall, every bedroom and wiped down the bathrooms as per the instruction sheet. As she returned to the main floor, she grabbed the bottled water she had picked up on the way over, took a couple big swigs, set it on the kitchen counter as she headed down the hall dusting, using the bathroom before wiping it down. In the laundry room she noticed a basket full to be done. Without thinking, she loaded the machine and started it then headed to the lower level. "Hello there. It's the owner, we're home early." Walker called out when he noticed the backpack by the front door as the rest of the family filed by him and headed for their rooms. After putting Zoe down for a nap, Diana returned downstairs, "Walker the upstairs is spotless. Wonderful job I've never seen the house cleaner. Who? Any sign yet?" she asked. "Not a peep. That explains it, she's wearing headphones." Walker said pointing down the hall where Jessy had just cleared the stairs and headed to the laundry room. "Be careful, you know how the boys zone out with those things on their head. Don't scare her to death." Diana warned as they headed down the hall. Jessy was busy loading the dryer when Walker first yelled at her then reached a hand to her shoulder. "Aahhhh" Jessy screamed, jumping back tripping over an empty basket, falling backwards into the wall hitting her back hard, knocking the wind out of her, before her head snapped back hitting the wall. Jessy collapsed to the floor gasping for air. "I'm so sorry. Diana she can't breathe." Walker yelled. "I think she knocked the wind out of her when she first hit the wall. Relax sweetie. You have to fill your lungs again. Try and relax, breathe in. Man what a bump. Walker get an ice pack. Poor baby, what have we done." Diana said kissing Jessy's forehead as she finally reinflated her lungs. "Here Diana." Walker said handing her the ice pak which she quickly applied to the bump on the back of Jessy's head. "I'm really sorry. I was sure you had heard me when I yelled. What were you listening to?" Walker asked noticing the cd and the broken door. "Ahhh my favorite." Jessy got out, the sound of her voice scaring her so that she put her hand to her throat. "Please don't worry, your voice will get stronger. You can scream at Walker soon for doing such a stupid thing." Diana teased as Jessy's eyes filled with tears. "Baby don't cry." Diana said. "I can't help it. I know who you are." Jessy whispered. "Diana, her favorite." Walker said holding up the RTA cd. "Ah hah you're a fan." Diana said. "No duh. Who isn't? uuhh I don't feel so good I think I'm gonna puke." Jessy said trying to get up. "I've got you." Walker said sweeping her up in his arms and carrying her to the bathroom just in time as Jessy knelt and heaved. "Oh go Walker. You and your weak stomach. Poor baby girl." Diana said pulling Jessy's hair back, pulling her own hair tie from her hair and placing it in Jessy's. "You poor little thing what have we done." Diana apologized. "Man Dad you look like a ghost." Isaac said. "What have I done?" Walker mumbled. "I don't know Dad, what?" Isaac asked and his father shared his stupid move. "Walker honey, come carry her to the spare room." Diana said. "I'll do it Dad. You don't look so good." Isaac said heading to his mother. "Dad don't look so good. So here's his victim. He sure is sorry." Isaac said gently lifting Jessy in his arms. "Oh man my head" Jessy moaned as Isaac carried her to the hallway. "You sure are a pretty thing." Isaac said as he passed his father, now joined by his two brothers. "Honey not now, I have a headache." Jessy teased and they all cracked up. "Man my head. Isaac Hanson you drop me and I'm going to get better just so I can kick your sorry ass." Jessy threatened still holding her head. "Babe I'm sorry you cracked me up. From your death bed you're trying to do a number on me." Isaac said carrying her to the spare room. "One of you boys get the ice pak from the laundry room. At least she has a sense of humor, maybe she won't sue you for everything, almost but not everything." Diana teased kissing her husband. "Diana it's not funny. What if she's really hurt.?" Walker asked. "Hun I don't think the headache is because of the bump on the head. I don't know why she got sick hun, but I don't think it's because of her falling." Diana explained. "Here Mom." Zac said, adding, "Her broken player? She was listening to us." The four made their way to the spare room to find Isaac sitting by her side, holding and stroking one of her hands, the two of them whispering to each other. "Ssshh. Whisper so it doesn't hurt her head." Isaac explained, adding, "Her name is Jessy. She got into town last night, found herself the job this morning, and she's hungry. I promised to make her a peanutbutter sandwich. Here Mom, you take good care of her." Isaac said getting up kissing Jessy on the forehead. "Silly, I told you the bump is in the back not on my forehead." Jessy teased. "Stop it girl, you have a headache." Isaac answered and headed to the kitchen. "Mrs H my back is really sore did I hit something and cut it or scrape it?" Jessy asked leaning forward. Diana lifted Jessy's tee shirt, "Wow what a scrape. Walker go see what she hit. Jessy sweetie it didn't break the skin but you sure have a bad scrape. It just gets worse, we're so sorry." Diana said. "It was my fault, I put on the headphones not you guys." Jessy said resting her head on her knees. "Here you go my special. Wow babe that's got to hurt." Isaac said sitting at her feet. "Yeah it does." Jessy said grabbing a half of the sandwich and taking a bite. "You make a mean sandwich Isaac. Hey I left a bottle of water on the counter, would you get it for me?" Jessy asked. "Oops I thought it was Mom's." Taylor said. "Taylor Hanson go to the cooler in the van and get her a water." Diana ordered. "Don't bother Tay unless you back wash when you drink." Jessy said. "No Jessy I swear." Taylor answered as Jessy reached. "Sorry Jessy" Taylor said. "No problem, I would have offered. I couldn't let you die of thirst, man the fans would stone me, put me to the racks, make me walk the plank." Jessy said laughing then grabbing her head as Diana lowered her shirt and reached for the bump on her head. "It's smaller I don't think that's the cause of the headache." Diana said. "I think that's my fault too. I've been so busy, finding a place, a job and everything, I forgot to eat is all. But Isaac has taken care of that. I should get better now with his help." Jessy explained. After eating she laid down to rest at Diana's insistence.
