Hanson Fan Fiction

Two Tears -Sixteen-

Kaitlyn was up to go to the bathroom 7am. "Baby Jane you must be using Mommy's bladder as a water bed. No more bouncing on the bed, please and thank you." Kaitlyn whispered as she touched her belly. She tried once more to get the rest of the cracker crumbs from her bed before she laid back down. She laid back, closed her eyes, then picked up the phone thinking of Isaac. "Let him sleep." she thought as her cell phone rang. "Hello" she answered. "Morning Mommy how are you?" Isaac asked. "We're just fine, how's Daddy this morning?" Kaitlyn asked. "I'm fine. Kaitlyn I'm really sorry about last night. I don't know how it got so messed up. All I know is I love you and I can't wait until you're my wife." Isaac said. "I'm sorry too, I dont' mean to be so sensitive hun. I just can't help it at times. When I thought over what I had said to you, I, I was so ashamed of myself. Thanks for loving me enough to understand." Kaitlyn said. "Isaac why are you up so early hun?" she asked. "I have no idea, oh yeah I got up to take a leak, 7am. Can you imagine." Isaac said. "Yes I can, guess what I was doing a that same time. Yep turning the toilet water yellow." Kaitlyn said. "I tried going back to sleep but no way" Isaac said. "So you decide to wake up your sleeping fiance to apologize for something she did, smooth Isaac." Kaitlyn said. "Yeah I guess I did." Isaac said. "Oh Kaitlyn I forgot, the news at 11, the broadcast was on, it went national, so they definitely know. You be careful and make sure you tell Rick." Isaac warned. "Yes Isaac. I will. I can imagine him going through the roof and he doesn't have me to blame." Kaitlyn said. "I really would have enjoyed seeing his face when he heard. You know the initial my God I don't believe she did this, slap in the face look. Not the anger and stupidity, I'm sure he displayed. The initial hurt, I hope he remembered every blow he struck you with that day and the faces staring at him. Every face a potential witness that watched him that day." Isaac said. "Oh Isaac, repressed anger there boy, I like. You paint such a pretty picture." Kaitlyn said. "I just hope he remembered the horror in my face so it could take hold of him. If just for a minute he was horrified by the thought of going to jail over what he did." Isaac added. "It wouldn't make it go away but Isaac I am finally able to forget that no one did anything to stop him because they all finally did. Every one of them finally stood up and said it was wrong. I mattered." Kaitlyn said tears flowing but she wasn't crying her heart was free. "You mattered to me then and you will always matter to me. I love you Kaitlyn." Isaac said. "And I'm so lucky you do. So blessed that you love me as much as I love you." Kaitlyn said. "When can you come home? I can't wait to hold you in my arms." Isaac asked. "I have computer classes this morning Isaac so it will be after lunch before I can get away. Oh Isaac I forgot I was going to ask you last night, but got my nose out of joint instead. Hun after you pick up the girls, could you stop by the mall and have them pick up thread and needles for me to fix Avie's dress. They'll know what to get, it's a invisible plastic thread and tiny sharp needles. I was the Suzy Homemaker of the dance troupes and got to fix or alter just about everybody's costume at one time or another. Just have them get me repair kit, they'll know what to get." Kaitlyn asked. "Sure hun we can do that." Isaac said. "Thanks. You're too good to me. Your daughter and I thank you and we love you. Hun I'm fixing breakfast this morning, because I won't be here tomorrow, so I have to get going. Remember we love you, bye." Kaitlyn said. "I love you too Kaitlyn. Tell Jane I love her. Bye." Isaac said and hung up. "Daddy said to tell you he loves, you sweet baby jane." Kaitlyn said kissing her palm and placing it on her belly. "So does Mommy." Kaitlyn said smiling.

The ringing phone startled her. "What did you forget?" she answered. "How dare you! How dare you do this! I know this is your doing. Admit it. After everything your father and I have done for you, this is how you repay us?" her mother screamed. "Mother so nice of you to call. I was afraid I wouldn't hear from you at all this summer. I'm fine if you're wondering. Never felt better actually. It's amazing what standing up for yourself does to your outlook on life. You really ought to try it Mother. Such an exhilerating experience to stand up to that monster and say you were wrong. You had no right to do what you did, to treat me the way you did." Kaitlyn said. Sandy woke, noticing Kaitlyn wide eyed and shaking and rushed to John and Mary. Soon John was seated beside her on the bed, holding her in his arms and Mary sat on the other side, stroking her hair. Sandy returned with Ken and Dave and they sat at the foot of her bed, telling her she could do this, be strong for baby Jane. "You ungrateful child. You never should have been born." her Mother screamed. "I'm sorry you feel that way Mother. I can't imagine any woman saying she wishes her child was never born but that explains a lot. Now it's clear that it wasn't my imagination, it wasn't me feeling sorry for myself, it wasn't me begging to know why I felt the way I did, crying out What's wrong with me? I felt unloved and unwanted Mother, that's exactly how you thought of me and still do. I got the point, loud and clear. So tell me why are you so upset, you're rid of me finally. Oh I know Kaitlyn is causing trouble. You're right I'm causing another incident as you so politely called them." Kaitlyn said. "She's turning white, open the windows. Ken grab that tray and fan her. Kaitlyn breathe, you're not passing out. Breathe child." John said. "Who is that? Kaitlyn why is there a man's voice? What are you doing? I'm coming after you. I'll stop all this nonsense. Your father will straighten this all out." she said. The mention of him, that monster, snapped Kaitlyn to attention." I'm sorry mother, the man's voice that is the voice of the closest thing I've know to a father, his name is John. He's wonderful, caring, kind, sensitive and most of all mother he likes me for who I am not what I am. He treats better than either of you ever could, even if you tried. I haven't had to do a thing to receive his unconditional love except be myself. Do you have any idea how wonderful it feels to be excepted for just being yourself. I don't have to be the best dancer, the prettiest girl, the richest, the smartest, don't have to be seen with the right people. For the first time in my life I can just be me, plain old Kaitlyn. Don't bother to come get me, I won't be here. I'm leaving right now. You can reach me through my attorneys from now on, I'm going into protective custody. No that monster will not get his hands on me again to straighten this out. I'll see you both in court. Goodbye Mother." Kaitlyn said turning off the phone and collapsing into John's arms. "Ken get Rick up. Tell him what's happened and to get ready to get her out of here. Dave and Sandy fix her one of her shakes to go and pack some of her bars. There's no time for breakfast but she'll end up sick if she doesn't get something in her stomach before she travels. Mother get her dressed, I'll call Isaac." John ordered dialing the phone. "Isaac son, it's John. I have to ship Kaitlyn home now son. Her mother called said she was coming to get her...." Kaitlyn heard him explain. Mary returned to her side with her clothes, "She never wanted me." Kaitlyn said. "I heard child, what kind of heartless soul is that woman. Not wanting her own child." Mary said dressing the motionless Kaitlyn like a doll "Kaitlyn stand for me." Mary said tugging at Kaitlyn who stood motionless. "You have her dressed Mother." John asked from the door. "There, you can come back in." Mary said straightening her clothes into place. "Shoes and socks and she's ready to go. John brush her hair for me." Mary said kneeling to put on shoes and socks as John sat Kaitlyn down and picked up her brush and brushed her hair. "Such beautiful hair you have Kaitlyn." John said kissing the top of her head. "I grew it like Mommy Hanson's. I love to brush her hair and now she brushes mine too. It's our special time, our special bond, since the day I first laid eyes on her and her long blonde hair. She's the first person in my life I can remember who loved me for me, I had just turned five and couldn't believe she wanted to talk to or be with me." Kaitlyn said finally showing emotion. "You'll be with her soon Kaitlyn. I spoke with her and your Daddy and they said to tell you they love you and can't wait for you to get home. Your Isaac said he loves you more than anything and is waiting for you." John told her. "There's no way they'll get you from us. I already called Doug at home and told him what was up. He called into headquarters and it appears our Governor is joining yours in his stand. Doug's on his way over to make sure you and Rick get out of the state safely and Okie troopers will meet you at the state line and escort you to the Hansons. You matter Kaitlyn." John explained.

They waited in the center for the State police car to arrive. "There he is and he has company." John said opening the door. "Doug this is Rick Davies the bodyguard the Hansons hired for Kaitlyn." John introduced as Rick presented identification and his permit to carry firearms. "Kaitlyn you rest easy knowing we won't let them near you, hear me." Doug said. "Thanks Doug, you've been like a big brother from the day I came into town." Kaitlyn said rising to hug him and he walked her to the car and saw she was buckled safely. "We'll see you tomorrow little one." John said as everyone said there goodbyes until tomorrow. "Rick, I'll be in the lead and Johnson will take the rear . Ready fueled and everything?" Doug asked and the caravan got underway, destination Missouri and Oklahoma border, the State Line.
