The six had a great time in St. Louis. Not just great, very productive. They started with lunch on a river boat and then in the first bridal shop they found dresses for everyone, including Kaitlyn. It was a new shipment, the clerk hadn't even unpacked it. As she opened the box Kaitlyn almost fainted. "Steady there little one. Kaitlyn are you okay. Mother she's crying. Get out here." John called. "Kaitlyn baby, what's wrong? You're as white as this morning. John get her some fresh air now. Tell her to breathe Kenny. Go get her outside now. Breathe fresh air." Mary hollered after them half dressed. "Kaitlyn breathe. Come on take a deep breathe. That a girl, your color's coming back." Ken said. "You okay now little one." John asked as Kaitlyn stood back up. "John" Kaitlyn said and started crying and he wrapped his arms around her. "Tell me what it is Kaitlyn. I won't let anything happen to you." John said. "It's not bad tears, I'm okay just spooked. That dress she pulled out of that box. I've worn that dress in my dreams for the past three years. See what I mean spooky." Kaitlyn said. "Big time girl, but what better dress for you to wear. Let's go back in and get before someone else does." John said leading her back inside. The dress was a perfect fit and packed back in it's box and all the dresses were overnight expressed to the Hanson house along with a big note for Isaac not to look. "Mom we've had such a good day. I found my dress, it's perfect I can't wait for you to see it. They should be delivered tomorrow and there's a list of tuxedo measurements for the guys. Is he back yet? Oh tell him I love him and will call him tonight. Bye Mom. Oh Mom, tell him I kept lunch down. Love you Mom." Kaitlyn said, calling to verify the ship to address and arranged delivery. They hit a shoe store next and managed to get everyone's shoes except Kaitlyn's who was getting tired. John sat with Kaitlyn in the sunshine and fresh air and wrapped an arm around her when she fell asleep. The other four hit every shoe store in the downtown area when suddenly Ken was standing out front waving to the rest. They all agreed on the shoe and the sales clerk grabbed the size she wore, one larger, one smaller and headed down the block to the sleeping Kaitlyn. Ken bent and took off her boot and sock and slipped on the footie and as the clerk slipped on the shoe Kaitlyn awoke. "That's it. That's the shoe." she said excitedly as the clerk pulled the smaller size out and tried it on. "Better?" the clerk asked. "Yes" Kaitlyn said. "Who?" Kaitlyn asked and they all pointed at Ken. "Thank you, you keep saving my butt don't you." Kaitlyn said hugging and kissing him. Kaitlyn signed the charge slip and Ken sat with her as John got the car and the other three purchased her shoes. "Ken that first day I met you and that chip on your shoulder, I wasn't going to like you. I was so sure of that one thing. Boy was I wrong." Kaitlyn said and Ken slipped an arm around her. "Me too Kaitlyn. I wasn't gonna like the rich snob. Boy was I wrong." he said and they laughed. The group shipped the shoes and accessories to the house, stopped for ice cream and a pickle for Kaitlyn and then headed back.
On the door was a note to call for delivery and Mary called and arranged. The group decided house cleaning was in order so they could say they did something. They started with their rooms and then split into two groups, one cleaning the kitchen, the other the bath and they all cleaned the center. They were out front when the picnic was delivered. "Special wishes to a Special Group of People. Thanks for loving and caring for my Kaitlyn. Gratefully Isaac Hanson." "Perfect timing, let's eat outside." John said. "Such a nice young man you're marrying Kaitlyn. This is a good thing. Yes a good thing." Mary said. "This isn't sitting too well." Kaitlyn said moving away from the table to a chair as Mary disappeared inside and returned with a nutritional drink and bar. "Try this sweetie." Mary said. "Thanks Mary." Kaitlyn said. "Mary?" she asked. "Yes Kaitlyn" Mary answered. "Does it hurt you that I'm pregnant. A reminder that you haven't been able to yet. I pray not, because I would never do anything to hurt you. But I can't see how it doesn't.Tell me?" Kaitlyn asked. "Kaitlyn, for the first time in my life, after years of John and I trying, years of hating everyone else for their joy. I can honestly say I am so happy for you and Isaac. I can't think of a better plan that God could have had." Mary said hugging her and touching her belly. "You have a beatuiful Mommy little one. Beautiful inside and out." Mary said kissing Kaitlyn on the forehead. "Mary do you think you and John would be my baby's grandparents instead of those monsters. I'd be proud to have you share your love, compassion, and outlook with her." Kaitlyn said. "Her huh? You know when you first told me, or I guessed by Isaac's comment. I saw pink, everything was pink. Strange huh?" Mary said. "That's what my life has been lately Mary, strange in a wonderful way." Kaitlyn said as she finished her drink and decided on a peanut butter sandwich. She returned with her sandwich and another drink and her cell phone. "Kaitlyn?" Isaac answered. "Hi I'm so glad you're home. Hun thanks for the picnic, they're enjoying it still, we're out back. Or they are, I'm under the tree drinking a Tay drink and a peanut butter sandwich. someone didn't care for your picnic. I take her and eat lunch on a boat and that's fine with her, but Daddy sends a picnic and she gets finicky." Kaitlyn said. "I'm so glad about lunch. It's important that's the only reason I keep at you. I just don't want anything to happen to either of you." Isaac said. "I know Daddy's have to worry, it's their job." Kaitlyn said. "Dad sure is a smooth operator. He arranged for the license to be ready but not be published until after the wedding. We stopped at the attorney so I could tell him my impression of the Smiths, told them John was giving you away and he said when they bring the papers for you to sign, they'll talk to them and get their signature at that time. Most of the paperwork is ready. they're waiting for the last tape to be collected, which should have been done today. So possibly tomorrow, but definitely by Wednesday, they'll come for your signature. I'm coming in too." Isaac said. "My you have been busy. Did Mom tell you about our great time. I have the perfect dress, the perfect shoes, and the perfect man." Kaitlyn said. "What else for little miss perfect." Isaac teased. "A perfectly healthy baby and I won't ask for another thing." Kaitlyn said. "Amen" Isaac said. They spoke for another hour. "Kaitlyn you go in and go to bed now or I won't call you tomorrow." Isaac said. "If I go to bed now, will you call me in the morning. Start my day right." Kaitlyn asked. "For you. I can do this." Isaac said. "Then goodnight and I will talk to you in the morning. Isaac I love you and so does your daughter." Kaitlyn said. "I love the two of you more than life itself. Sleep tight Kaitlyn. I'll be with you in your dreams." Isaac wished.
