"Tell me again why we're doing this?" Isaac complained. "This was your idea so don't be complaining to me." Taylor shot back at him. "Man how am I suppose to read with all this moaning and groaning." Zac said throwing his pillow at Taylor and soon the room was a battle zone. Between hurling pillows back and forth and wrestling on the floor, the task at hand was a distant memory. "Boys, I sure hope you've gotten busy reading all the entries. You should have been through this a week ago." Diana said as she entered the room and a pillow flew past. "Boys!" Diana demanded attention, as she lowered her voice, "I wasn't keen on this idea when you brought it up, but since you decided to do it, I expect you to give it your entire attention." "Mom some of this is pure garbage. Taylor even got a couple from guys. They haven't taken it seriously, why should we?" Isaac asked. "You boys be grateful they still care. I haven't seen this much mail since. My it has been a while! Anyway treat them with the respect they deserve, you never know what or who you'll find." Diana said leaving. "She's right I'm back at it." Taylor said looking at the mail bag full yet to be sorted. Pulling it over to his bed he started sorting dropping his on his bed, tossing Isaac's and Zac's onto their beds. His eye was drawn to the printing and the doodling on the envelope, "Creative" he thought and was pleased when he turned it over and it was addressed to him. He placed the envelope aside from the rest, sensing there was something special about this one. He continued and noticed doodling again and laughed, "Cute" he thought and when he read Zac in the address. "Hey Zac check this one out. Puts MOE Man to shame. Maybe hers and yours can Oh never mind." Taylor said as he continued the task of sorting the mail. "Cool. Check this one out Ike." Taylor said tossing the neon green envelope his way. "Cool." Isaac said reading the envelope and opening it, reading the letter with a smile on his face and an occasional chuckle. "Zac what's so funny?" Taylor asked. Man she's got a great sense of humor." Zac laughed then shared a funny part. "You're right she sounds like a blast." Taylor said turning back to the envelope he had placed aside and decided to open it, read it, and discover why he was drawn to it. "This is it." Zac said, adding, "I don't need to go any farther. I found her and her name is Jessy." Zac declared. "Me too. I'm done nothing can top this. Mine is named Veronica." Isaac said looking to Taylor. "Need help man. I'm done, I'll help you read." Isaac offered. "Me too" Zac said. "No guys. I found her too and her name is Michele." The three headed out with their winners in hand to share with their parents.
"Momma tell me again why we're up here in God's country. I
ain't seen another living soul that wasn't covered in fur."
Jessy asked. "I just need to get away from the rat race and
here is away from the rat race." Barbara said. "Ummm Momma,
rat's are swooped down upon from above up here, and so will
we if we don't get moving. Did you see the size of that,
that.." Jessy stuttered at the sight. "Dear that's an
eagle, you know the national bird, protected and all that.
He isn't after us." Barbara said. "Then why is he coming
back?" Jessy asked. "Because you didn't recognize him most
likely. Giving you a second look, so you know just how
beautiful he is. Let's head the rest of the way to Bud and
Sally's, only a couple more hours and we should be there."
Barbara said. "You sure we're still in the same country. I
think you've driven too far already." Jessy complained.
"Not unless I feel asleep and we drove through Wisconsin.
Load up girl." Barbara said. "Two weeks up here cut off
from the world. I'm not thrlled about this. I should hear
about the date with Zac, I just have to win. Just have to."
Jessy said. "We'll be back in time. Besides I think Sally's
still connected up here. You can go online and find out."
Barbara said. A couple hours later they arrived at their
destination only to find that the latest storm knocked out
the phone lines, only communications was via short wave
radio. Two weeks later phones were still out and Barbara
gave into the constant whines and headed back down to lower
Michigan, stopping in Traverse City to visit friends. "Wow
great condo. This is awesome." Jessy said. "Yeah they are
hunks aren't they." Barbara said. "Totally, umm I think I'm
headed in for a dip. Judy is it okay if I use the pool?"
Jessy asked "Sure kiddo. One is Mark, the other is Adam.
Mark doesn't drive quite yet and Adam is about your age.
Have fun." Judy said as Jessy rushed to change into her
suit and go have some fun. She hit it off from the get go
and was invited to a beach party. "I don't see any beach."
Jessy said and they walked her to the other side of the
condos and "Wow a pool in the front yard and Lake Michigan
in the back yard. This place is awesome, sure hope we can
stay awhile." Jessy said as they headed to the beach. Later
that night she persuaded Momma to stay a week with Judy's
help. Jessy enjoyed everything about the stay, the people,
Adam especially, the surroundings, the shops, the tourists.
She was having a blast and had totally forgotten about the
contest until they reached home to both mailboxes full. She
had rushed back to the road with an empty box to empty the
mailbox and was in the living room sorting through it when
she screamed. "Tulsa, it's from Tulsa. Oh God, what if it's
it. I hope, I hope, Please. Ahhhhhhhhh!! I won, I won, I
won.!! I'm going on a date with Zac Hanson. Ahhhhhh!!"
Jessy screamed. "No Momma I leave today. Momma help!! In
four hours I can't be ready in four hours much less four
days. What will I wear? What will I say?" Jessy rambled on.
"I suggest you go to your room and decide, if there's
anything you need that isn't already packed. And make sure
you pick a few things to have them autograph." Barbara said
as she dialed the number on the letter and explained the
situation. "Zac will be relieved. He's been so worried that
she hadn't replied. Could you hang on while I dial them and
let them know?" she asked. "Fine by me I have an hour to
kill before we have to leave." Barbara said rereading the
letter. "My baby chosen out of thousands and thousands.
Cool." she thought to herself. "Hey Jessy's Mom, this is
Zac, you sure she wants to come. I figured since she didn't
answer maybe she changed her mind." Zac asked. "Zac you can
call me Barbara, Momma and I even answer to Jessy's Mom.
Didn't the girl explain. We been up in the UP for two weeks
cut off from the world and the last week we were in
Traverse City and she was make up for two weeks in the
boonies. We just got home a half hour ago and got the
letter." Barbara said. "Come on Momma let's go. I'm packed.
Tell whoever that is goodbye and let's go." Jessy said
excitedly. "Zac Jessy wants me to tell you goodbye and go.
You know I would have thought she'd die for the chance to
talk to you but I guess I was wrong." Barbara said as Jessy
screamed. "No way. No. You hang up and I'll die right here
on the living room floor." Jessy squealed. "Hang on Zac."
Barbara said. "Jessy. Jessy." Zac called. "Hey Zac." Jessy
said. "Hey. Man was I worried. I figured you changed your
mind and didn't want to go out with me after all." Zac
said. "Oh way not true. Man Zac I've sort of been in
another world these past few weeks. Man we didn't leave
until like a week after the contest had ended, I sort of
figured I didn't win. So when Momma suggested the trip, I
went for it. Man what a snooze the first two weeks, I'm fed
up with nature for some time now and I sort of went
overboard in Traverse City making up for the other two
weeks but Zac I can't wait to meet you. Man. I'm sorry."
Jessy said taking the towel Momma had gotten. "Jessy don't
cry. I didn't mean to make you cry." Zac said. "You didn't,
I'm just so happy I guess it just leaked out. It's not your
fault. Well I guess it is, the thought of meeting you made
me this happy." Jessy said. "Man I can't wait to meet you
either. I've read your story over and over and I can recite
it, you wanna hear?" Zac said. "Ummm Zac I know what I said
hun. You don't have to recite it to me unless you want to."
Jessy said. "Oh yeah you do don't you. No I'd rather talk
about something I don't know, ummm like what do you look
like. I sent you like a million e-mails asking you. I
figured when you didn't answer maybe you..." Zac was
interrupted by her. "Man Zac you filled my mailbox and it
holds a couple hundred. Geez I'd say someone's been
anxious." Jessy said reading and discarding and answering
all of Zac's questions while he listened. "Man I know there
was a message from Chele I saw it on the list." Jessy said
as her mother answered the door, "Zac you sent a car to
pick us up. Way cool. Impressive. Umm I'm wearing jeans and
my favorite Hanson shirt, I'm 5'6", blonde, blue eyed, and
I scream loud." Jessy laughed. "You're so funny Jessy. I
can't wait to meet you now go get in the car. There's a jet
waiting. See ya in a couple of hours. Okay?" Zac said.
"Duh? I can tell you're blonde. How can you ask that?"
Jessy teased, adding, "I'm going Zac be there when I land
okay?" "Duh? I can tell you're blonde too. Bye Jessy see ya
soon" Zac said. "AHHHHHH!!!!" Jessy screamed and sighed
before heading to the car. At the airport they headed to
the private airline terminal where a small jet was waiting
to take her and her mother to Tulsa. An hour later they
were circling Tulsa waiting for clearance to land as tears
filled Jessy's eyes once more. She felt she had grown up
with Zac, loved him ever since they had made it big with
'Mmmbop' almost three years ago. She had grown from a child
to a teenager loving Zac Hanson, the hottest hottie of them
all. "Man Chele Momma, I never told her. God how could I
not tell her. I'll email her as soon as I meet Zac, I'm
sure he can get me on line to her." Jessy decided as the
pilot announced they were about to land.
