Day Has Come

Part Fifty-six

"Mom, Dad." Zac called out as they entered the house. "How's my girl?" Diana asked bypassing the others making her way to Jessy. "I'm fine and you grandchild is being difficult." she pouted. "Sweetie, it takes time. Be patient and I know this sounds ridiculous but try and relax. Jessy this could go on like this for quite a while so you have to pace yourself or you'll get too tired and won't have enough energy leff to have the baby." Diana explained. "I'm so glad you're my Mom now, with your experience we can't go wrong." Jessy admitted rubbing her belly then hugging Diana tight. "Now if you can do something about Zac. If he doesn't chill, he's going to drive me crazy." Jessy complained. "He can't help it sweetie. Walker worried hrough every one of the children. Dear what was that you said trying to explain why you drove me crazy? Something like I've had nine months to get used to having a baby. What was that dear? Explain to Jessy why Zac is driving her crazy." Diana asked. "Jessy. What did you tell them? I am not driving you crazy, tell them." Zac insisted but when he looked at her, he could see that's how she felt. "Fine. I'll leave you alone. I'd like it if you'd let me know when you think the baby is coming. That is if you don't mind my knowing." Zac pouted as Jessy broke down crying, "I didn't mean it like that but go ahead and leave. I don't blame you. I'd leave if I could but I can't even fit behind the steering wheel.. I'm a freeking whale." she choked out before heading to the bathroom and locking the door. "Babe let me in please. I'm sorry Jessy. I'm just scared is all. I don't know what I'll do if anything happens to you. This is all my fault, why'd I get you pregnant." Zac no more than said before Jessy jerked the door open no longer crying but fit to be tied. "Why'd you get me pregnant? This is all your fault? How dare you act like this is wrong." Jessy screamed as a contraction started. "Breath babe, Jessy you have to relax. Relax and work with it." Zac said as Jessy doubled over in pain. "Don't touch me. I can do this without you. You don't have to worry or be scared, I'll be fine as soon as you take your hand off of me and leave me alone." Jessy insisted heading to the spare room Mom had set up for the two of them. "Sis." Jessy screamed. "What? Jessy what's wrong?" Chele asked making her way to her with Mandy, Taylor and Isaac not far behind. "Get him away from me?" Jessy asked pointing at Zac. "Jesus Jessy, relax and breath. In. Out." Chele ordered. "Get him away from me." Jessy screamed definitely in pain as she doubled over again. "Taylor please. I don't know why but get him away from her, now." Chele asked as she rubbed Jessy's back, "Please Jessy relax and work with it or you're not going to make it. Relax. Mom." she pleaded as Jessy finally took a deep breath wincing in pain. "What on earth. Sweetie breath. Jessy relax and breath in and out slowly." Diana insisted and Jessy did what she asked, relaxing as the contraction ended, taking a deep cleansing breath. "If you'll all excuse me, I'm going to rest now and relax before the next one." Jessy whispered, her eyes never leaving the floor as her tears hit the hardwood floor and splattered. "Forgive me Jessy. I'm sorry. I didn't mean it the way you took it. I'm just scared so it didn't come out right." Zac pleaded as more tears hit the floor and she shrugged her shoulders, opening the door to their room, dsappearing inside and shutting it. Once inside Jessy took off her shoes, piled up all the pillows and tried to get comfortable an impossible feat. On the other side of the door everyone was trying to figure out what was going on. "No Chele should check on her. She called out to her, not me." Diana insisted, instructing Chele what to expect, "Walker will tell you, with all the hormones moving, from second to second she'll be totally different, hot one, cold the next, loving one, a bitch the next. Don't take it personally, she can't help it. Do you hear me Zac? Don't take it personally. Walker I asked you to talk to him so he knew what to expect." Diana said as Chele opened the door quietly, "I'm going in. Bye baby, remember I love you." Chele teased in a whisper. "She was a good wife, cut down in the prime of her life by out of control hormones." Taylor teased back. "I heard that Taylor Hanson." Jessy hollered before laughing. "Sorry Sis." Taylor hollered back. "Get in here so I can see if you're really sorry or just saying what I want to hear. Are you chicken too?" Jessy asked. "Sis he ain't chicken, just afraid of losing the most important thing in his life, you." Taylor said as he approached the bed and Jessy gasped, "Tay I said such awful things. He'll never forgive me." Jessy said starting to cry. "Don't cry sis, he loves you so much, there's nothing to forgive." Taylor insisted wrapping his arms around her as she buried her face in his shoulder, crying harder. Taylor motioned to Zac to come in, "Tell her how much you love her." he whispered to him. "Jessy I'm so sorry. I love you so much, it scares me to see you in pain knowing I can't do anything, can't share, you have to do this alone. That's what I meant, not what you thought. Babe I love you so much for doing this, words just can't express the love I feel for you." Zac said stroking her belly as Jssy sighed. "Zac, I can't do this without you, I lied just to hurt you back. I need you." Jessy whimpered as the next contracting started. "Then you got me, so let's relax and breath in, out. " Zac insisted as Jessy did as he intructed, laying back in her pile of pillows, relaxing and breathing. As she tried desperately to get comfortable, Zac slipped off his shoes and slipped into bed behind her, wrapping his arms around her massaging the baby as Jessy cuddled into his arms, relaxing and sighing in contentment then falling asleep. "I don't believe it. How can she fall asleep in mid contraction?" Zac asked looking at his mother. "Because she loves and trusts you enough to share with you. Your job is to keep her happy and relaxed When the contractions are hard enough to do something, she'll wake up. Just let her rest now." Diana shared clearing the room, leaving the door open as they left. Jessy slept for almost an hour before waking to a strong contraction, "Relax and breath Jessy." Zac said stroking her belly as Jessy rolled her head back his shoulder and breathed deep and slow. When the contraction ended they headed to the bathroom as the next contraction began and she leaned against him, laying her head on his shoulder, breathing deeply until it ended, taking a cleansing breath. "These are definitely doing something." Jessy share and over the next hour the contractions gor stronger and lasted longer. As a contraction ended, "Zac it's time. The baby deinitely wants to meet it's Daddy face to face." Jessy shared. "Well good, I want to see its face too." Zac shared and they headed to the family to explain the baby was going to make an appearance. Walker and Diana drove them in to the hospital and as they dropped them off and wished them the best, 'You aren't staying with us? Zac who'll take care of the baby, stay with it until I can. I just assumed Mom and Dad would be with us to greet the baby." Jessy shared as the next contraction started. "Walker? I definitely am staying. I can't wait to meet my grandchild." Diana replied. "Are you sure Jessy? I love you as you were my own, but I'd understand if you didnt want me with you." Walker said. "Daddy I am your own, I have to be. You're not my Daddy? Mom?" Jessy teased in mid contraction. "I'm staying you two take her in and I'll park." Walker ordered as the contraction ended. Before long they were all four in a birthing room and Jessy was almost fully dialated. "So this is why we didn't come early this morning when I suggested it." Zac said as the doctor finished his examination informing them it was time to start pushing. "Yeah hun, I prefer home and your arms to this anytime." Jessy replied. "Man we'd be crazy by now if we'd been here for fourteen hours already instead of just one." Zac expressed as the next contraction started and at the peak of it Jessy pushed for the first time. "Good push sweetie, now rest for the next one and rest through the beginning of it with your slow breathing and as it peaks, bear down and push. Focus on pushing the baby out." Diana shared. "I'm so glad you're here. I called Momma but the ranch is so busy she's flying down after the baby is here. She'd rather spend time with her grandchild already. I can see it now, I ship my kids off to Gramma's for the summer and I never get to see her." Jessy shared. "Wow you think she'd take them for the summer. Man I could have you to myself every summer. Hmm I like, let's call Momma now and set up times for next summer." Zac teased. "Do you think she'd take mine?" Walker asked and everyone laughed. "I'm serious here." he insisted and they laughed harder. They laughed, joked and labored over the next hour as the head crowned and Jsssy got serious. Three hours after they arrived, Andrew Walker Hanson made his way into the world smiling first at his Daddy, then Mommy and Grandparents. As soon as the baby was cleaned up, "Now I want to go home." Jessy insisted. "What?" Zac asked shocked. "Zac I'm not sick and there are sick people here. I want to go home." Jessy let it be known she was gong home. Five hours after leaving the house, the five returned, stopping at Jessy and Zac's long enough to pack some clothes to stay with the folks for a few days. "Babe I hope you're okay with this. I couldn't face us being alone quite yet, he's so little." Zac said wrapping his arms around her as she carried Andrew into the folks' house to meet everyone. "Jessy baby." Zoe squealed. "Yeah Lil Sis, baby Andrew. Want to see?" Jessy said as Zac pulled his blanket back and revealed the baby. "Pretty baby." Zoe squealed. "She's right, he's beautiful. Taylor do you think our baby will look like this?" Chele exclaimed as Taylor walked up behind her wrapping his arms around her, stroking her belly. "Enjoy it Sis, soon enough you'll hear, I need longer arms." Jessy teased handing the baby to Zac then hugging her sister, "Ouch. How could I forget about these." Jessy said rolling her eyes as the baby began to cry. "Good I hope you're hungry baby Andrew Mommy's full." Jessy said. "Lucky boy." Zac said leaning towards him, "I thin he's ready Mommy." Zac shared and everyone turned to see the baby sucking his cheek. "That's my job." Jessy teased. "He's going to get really angry in a minute when he realizes it's empty." Zac teased as Jessy headed to the rocking chair to nurse the baby. "Mom I think your daughter needs you to explain things to her." Jessy called out. "Lucky Zoe, you can learn all about babies now." Diana said lifting her to explain Jessy feeding the baby her milk she makes special for the baby. "Slow down Mom, Taylor didn't hear that part." Zac teased. "Taylor. I didn't hear it." Chele teased. "Yeah Mom slow down, we figured out how to make one, now we need to know how to take care of one." Taylor teased. "Well here's your first lesson in changing a poopy diaper." Jessy said handing the baby to Zac, "Your brother will teach you." "We've had diaper detail Jessy. As cute as she looks, man did she stink as a baby." Taylor shared and they all laughed, even Zoe. For the next few days, Zac, Jessy and Andrew stayed with his parents until Jessy was stronger and Zac took them home. "You sure you two don't mind staying?" Jessy asked knowing the answer. "Sis you know we don't mind, besides this is he best practice we could ask for. Tay do you think your folks will come to the hospital with us too?" Chele asked. "I'm sure they will. You just ask, they'll be so thrilled you want them there." Taylor answered and for the next couple of weeks Taylor and Chele moved in with them.
