Day Has Come

Part Fifty-five

They were finally home and Jessy was so relieved. She spent the next couple of weeks either in the water at the folks' house or at home with the air conditioning cranked up. "Jessy please, it's for such a good cause." Zac asked her about appearing at a fund raiser, adding, "Not all babies are as lucky as ours. You know there are a lot of babies that no one wants. Besides I bought you this." Zac asked as Jessy ripped open the package revealing a white linen pant suit. "Zac it's beautiful." Jessy squealed. "Yeah with you in it." Zac insisted wrapping his arms around her. "Whoa. I need longer arms." Zac teased. "Real sensitive." Jessy pouted trying so hard not to laugh. "Babe I'm sorry. Oh God Jessy I can't believe I said that outloud. You know how beautiful I think you are babe." Zac apologized. with suvh sorrow on his face. "Hun I know you didn't mean it that way. Honest Zac I know how much you love me, you wouldnt't do anything like that to hurt my feelings. Zac it was actually funny but you know how emotional I am lately. I laugh when I should cry and cry when I should laugh." Jessy shared trying desperately to take away the sorrow on his face. "Jessy I didn't mean.." Zac tried to say as Jessy interrupted by kissing him deeply. "I love the suit Zac and if it fits, I'd love to make an appearance. Babe who else is going? Mom and Dad? Sis and Tay?" Jessy asked as Zac led her by the hand to their room. "Babe the whole family will be there." Zac answered. "Then I guess we better see if this fits." Jessy said as Zac helped her try on her new outfit. "You're beautiful babe. Look at the two of you." Zac praised as they decided to join the family, As they entered, all attention and cameras aimed their way . "Zac." Jessy squealed as he quickly wrapped and arm around her. "It's okay babe, I'm right here." Zac assured her. "Please back up, give them a little room." Walker asked stepping in front of the two as the press complained. "As you can see, Jessy is still very pregnant and they are awating the arrival of their first child. Yes, those of you still counting on your fingers, their nine month anniversary was two weeks and three days ago, not that it's anyone's business." Walker added. "Daddy." Jessy squealed turning red faced as Zac kissed and hugged her. "Still madly in love, eh Zac?" a reporter asked. "More than ever, just look at her. She's the most beautiful thing and she's carrying my baby." Zac answered as he gazed at Jessy with such love as he lightly stroked her belly before kneeling and kissing it, "Hey baby Hanson. Daddy and Mommy love you and Daddy and Mommy love each other." he said as Jessy stroked his hair. "That we do. Have since the day we met and will until the end of time." Jessy said slipping her hand in Zac's hand that was stroking the baby. The family gathered around them as the cameras clicked away, "Daddy, get in the picture. You're half responsible for all of this." Jessy insisted. "That he was. I should know I was there." Diana added and they all chuckled as Walker took his place next to his wife "How's my girl?" Diana asked. "Fine I guess. I just get so tired Mom. Poor Zac, he's trying to explain something to me and half way through I guess I fell asleep and he had to start all over after my nap was done." Jessy answered. "Knowing men he probably didn't notice until he was done talking and waiting for a reply." Diana teased. "No mom, her snoring gave it away." Zac teased. "Give me a break, I'm sleeping for two." Jessy kidded. "And you do it so well dear." Zac replied. "Zac Hanson, you're lucky I'm almost nine months pregnant or I'd whoop your ass. Sis. Zac's picking on me." Jessy pouted. "He's what?" Chele asked glaring at Zac. "He wouldn't." Mandy insisted glaring at Zac. "Babe I'm sorry. Forgive me for being a jerk. You're are the cutest little sleeper I've ever slept with or will ever sleep with." Zac pouted making big old puppy dog eyes at her. "That's the best you can do?" Jessy asked straight faced as everyone else chuckled. "Zac. Come on man, you're making us look bad." Taylor insisted. "At least down on a knee to make it look good." Isaac added. "Zac how many times do I have to tell you, look at her and then the floor with shame on your face. They love that, eat it up boy." Walker teased. "Dear you do realize, everything wrong in the world is your fault." Diana added as Jessy couldn't take anymore and began giggling without making a sound and was soon gasping for breath, "Zac." she choked out as she began laughing out loud. "I'm sor..." she choked out as she laughed again. "Are you laughing at me?" Zac asked looking crushed. "I'm not...." she said and then laughed again. "No, I guess I am laughing at you." she finally got out as they all laughed. "Babe forgive me." Zac said kneeling, glancing up at her then at the floor with shame on his face. "Forgive me?" he asked.again as he finally started laughing with them. "Stop. Now I have to go potty." Jessy shared. "Come on babe. This way." Zac said rising and guiding her down the hall. "I'm glad you asked me to come Zac. I guess I needed it, to take my mind off things." Jessy shared wrapping her arm around him, laying her head on his shoulder. "Yeah I know babe." he replied kissing the top of her head, then he waited for her to finish. "You waited." Jessy squealed as the biggest smile came over her face. "What?" Zac asked. "I love you so much Zac." Jessy declared, kissing him deeply. "Yeah I know babe." Zac responded as their kiss ended. "You always seem to know what I need. Thanks Zac." Jessy replied cuddling in his arms. "Zac?" she asked. "What babe?" he replied. "Do we have to stay? I wouldn't mind some alone time, you know just us. Soon we won't have much of it." Jessy asked rubbing her belly. "Good idea babe." Zac said walking her back to the family. "Dad, okay if we split. Jessy's fine, we just thought we'd do something, just the two of us before it's the three of us." Zac asked. "Good idea son. She definitely deserves it." Walker said kissing Jessy's cheek and lightly touching her belly. "You take it easy sweetie. Lots of rest, you've got a big job coming." Diana insisted hugging her. "I will Mom." Jessy replied kissing her cheek. "I'll take good care of her." Zac promised, hugging his mother as they said their goodbyes to the rest of the family before heading out. "Zac roll up your window, I'm cold." Jessy asked as she rubbed up and down her arms. "Babe you okay? It's August, how can you be cold Jessy?" Zac asked concerned. "I don't know. I just am." Jessy shouted almost in tears. "Oh Jessy I'm sorry." Zac apologized. "No I am. I didn't mean to snap your head off." Jessy said sniffling. "It's okay babe. I remember what Mom said, everything wrong is my fault." Zac teased.as she giggled. They made their way back home, "Zac I'm tired." Jessy said as they entered the house and he headed her to their room and they changed into comfortable clothes and crawled into bed to nap. Just as they both got comfortable, "Zac I'm hungry." Jessy shared. "What you want babe, a meal, a snack?" Zac asked. "Ice cream. I want ice cream Zac." Jessy answered as he disappeared down the hall, returning with a bowl of ice cream for each of them, then propped her up, tucking pillows in all around her. "Here you go babe." he insisted handing her her dish. "Thanks Zac, you're the best." Jessy replied her eyes getting bigger as she gazed at her ice cream before devouring it then cuddling down for a nap. While she slept, Zac arranged for a surprise. "What are you up to?" Jessy asked as she woke."I'm not up to anything babe." Zac answered not looking at her. "Yeah, right! Is that why you won't look at me?" she asked. "If I look at you, I'll have to have you. I'm weak where you're concerned." Zac replied. "Zac Hanson you are full of it." Jessy insisted, adding, "Hun get me up I need to go potty." Jessy informed as someone pulled in the driveway. Zac got her up and then headed to see who it was. "Sis. Where are you?" Chele asked. "I'm in the bedroom." Jessy called out. "Hey Sis. I know you wanted to be alone but what about the lake property and the six of us camping out one last time before it's seven of us." Chele suggested. "Cool idea Sis. I wonder. He probably won't. Man I'd like to go. I'm going, Did you ask Zac already?" Jessy asked definitely worried. "Nah Sis. I didn't even tell Tay. We were headed home when it struck me, the six of us before it's the seven of us. And with touring we haven't really done anything fun together lately, it's all been work, work, work." Chele explained. "You're right we need to have some fun." Jessy said packing for the two of them before changing into her swimsuit. "Here take this bag and let's go." Jessy said heading down the hall. "Zac?" Jessy called out. "What is it babe?" Zac asked rushing up the stairs, panicking when he saw Chele with their suitcase. "Is it time? What's with the suitcase? Jessy where are you going? I apologized and you said you understood. Babe are you leaving me?" Zac rattled off making his way to her side. "Oh Zac, that's not even funny, I could never leave you, you know that and no hun, I'm fine, it's just. Nah never mind, it was stupid to think we'd. Zac I'm sorry, it was just a dumb idea." Jessy said turning and heading to their room. "Sis you were so up about going. What?" Chele asked as Jessy headed down the hall. "Zac what did you do? She was so hyped, really excited about going." Chele asked. "Going where? What's going on? I thought she was in labor at first." Zac questioned. "Oh God Zac. I never thought about that." Chele exclaimed. "It's all I think about." Zac replied. "Maybe that's why she was so excited about going to the lake, you know like when we all met." Chele explained. "Why didn't she say so?" Zac asked heading after her, returning a short while later both of them laughing and smiling. "Let's go camp out like we used to but Jessy isn't cooking. We can go to the deli or Rex's instead of her cooking, this is her vacation." Zac insisted and the four headed to the lake, stopping and getting dinner while Isaac and Mandy picked up the sleeping bags, grill, and a lounge chair for Jessy. The six swam, fished, napped in the sun, ate dinner, then sang around the campfire as Jessy fell asleep in Zac's arms. "This is the best she's slept in weeks." Zac shared. "She just needed to have some fun." Chele insisted. "It has been a while." Zac replied and they all laughed. Early next morning Jessy woke, "Hey hun, you been awake long?" she asked finding Zac awake, watching her sleep. "Not long babe. You were stirring and it woke me. How you feeling?" he asked. "Happy but I gotta pee." Jessy answered and they got up. "I'm hungry too." she called from the bushes. "What you want?" Zac asked and he started breakfast which woke the otheres. "You sure that's all you want Sis? You didn't eat much." Mandy asked definitely worried. "Don't look at me that way. The baby is taking up all the space so I fill up fast but I'll be hungry again soon. Tell her Zac." Jessy explained. "You wait, someday you'll know what it's like." Zac teased. "Miss I'm Finishing College First. Yeah in three more years she might know." Isaac pouted. "Oh poor Isaac. I told you babe you want a baby now, you carry it." Mandy teased. "If I could I would. Mandy your neice or nephew over there is going to need a playmate. You could save Jessy from getting pregnant right away by having a baby now." Isaac suggested. "We should have a baby now so Zac and Jessy's baby has someone to play with? Is that what you're saying?" Mandy asked. "I guess I am." Isaac chuckled. "I never thought of that. They could grow up together. And we all just went through Jessy's pregnancy and survived, well except for Zac." Mandy teased. "Well Isaac can be the next one to not survive a pregnancy, yours." Zac replied. "You think he'll be as bad as you. I swear he just stares at me like I'm going to break or something." Jessy complained. "What else is there for me to do. You're doing everything else. All I get is to worry about something happening to you or the baby." Zac shared. "That's what your father told you. Zac didn't you believe him. He said you have the hardest job, you have to worry but not let us know you're worried. Remember?" Jessy reminded. "I thought he was teasing babe." Zac replied., adding, "He wasn't it is hard watching you struggle to get up, not be able to sleep, eat, and now wondering when. Everytime you sneeze, need up, stop, I think it's time. I'm a nervous wreck." Zac shared. "I'm sorry. Zac I don't mean to make..." Jessy got out before crying. "Babe don't cry. I know you don't mean to. I should have kept my mouth shut. Jessy don't cry, please babe." Zac asked holding her close. "Zac. Oh." Jessy moaned. "What babe?" Zac asked as Jessy grabbed his arm and squeezed hard. "Jessy what?" Zac asked again when she didn't answer. "I think the baby heard us fighting and wants out to settle it once and for all." Jessy finally answered when the contraction stopped. "What? You okay babe?" Zac asked. "Yeah Zac. I'm not sick, just having a baby, yours." Jessy teased kissing his cheek. "You mean ours." Zac insisted. "Well Zac, it's coming out of me so I don't think anyone is going to question that the baby is mine." Jessy teased and everyone laughed. "We better get going then." Zac suggested. "Why?" Jessy asked. "You're having a baby Jessy." Zac replied. "So. I don't want to go yet. I want to go swimming." Jessy insisted. "Lighten up Zac. Sis would let you know if the baby was ready to make an appearance." Chele insisted, adding, "I'll swim with you Sis." "You going to help me change?" Jessy asked turning back to Zac. "Sure babe." Zac answered heading to the close line, stepping behind the towels and they watched as their clothes went down and their suits went up. The others soon followed and they swam, keeping an eye on her. They took turns worrying, "Sis enough is enough. As the designated worrier for this hour, please no more. Can't we go home and labor?" Chele asked. "I am getting little tired. Maybe home, a nap in our soft bed isn't such a bad idea." Jessy answered and they packed up and headed to Zac and Jessy's house. Once home, she took a shower and then snacked before finally layind down to relax. "Mom she's asleep now. How can she sleep through labor?" Zac asked. "Sweetie I know this is hard on you, but you can't let Jessy know how worried you are. She has enough to do without worrying about you." Diana shared. "I'll do my best." Zac answered, promising to call later as things moved along. "Zac." Jessy called out sending him racing to their room. "Yeah babe. How you feeling?" he asked as he entered the room, "Jessy where are you?" he asked not finding her in bed. "In the bathroom Zac. I think my water broke." she answered. "You what?" Zac asked racing to the bathroom. "You think eh?" Zac asked snickering. "Yeah I think so." Jessy answered totally wet from the waist down standing in a puddle of water, adding, "The contractions are getting harder too. I don't see how I slept through them." As the next contraction started and she concntrated on her breathing as Zac got clean clothes and started the shower for her. "Thanks hun. See I really need you." Jessy insisted. "It's about time." Zac teased getting her undressed and in the shower as the next contraction began. "You just had one. Jessy how close are they?" Zac asked as she put up three fingers. "Jessy why didn't you tell me?" he asked. "Because you'd make me go to the hospital and I don't want to yet." Jessy answered taking a deep cleansing breath. "Mind telling me when we can go?" Zac asked wrapping her in a towel. "How would I know. I'm waiting for the baby to let me know." Jessy answered as he helped her dress and then dried her hair. "Who you calling?" Zac asked as she reached for and dialed the phone. "Mom. I just want to make sure everything is okay." Jessy answered. "Mom I'm finally in labor." Jessy shared when she answered the phone. "Well it's about time. How far apart sweetie? Walker our grandchild has finally decided to make an appearance." Diana shared. "There about three minutes apart and getting closer to two minutes long." Jessy answered. "How strong sweetie? Can you manage by just breathing slowly still?" Diana asked. "Yeah Mom. I've got a while haven't I?" Jessy asked. " Yeah sweetie, until they get stronger you won't be dialating much." Diana answered. "Mom can we come out there." Jessy asked. "Of course sweetie. Tell Zac I want to keep an eye on you." Diana suggested. "You tell him, okay Mom?" Jessy asked handing the phone to Zac and soon the six were on the way to the folks' house.
