Day Has Come

Part Five

Chele and Jessy returned around 4:30 and Jessy was all smiles, "Grampa when I graduate I'm coming back here and going to TU. Man is it ever neat." Jessy squealed in her TU tank, sporting a back pack and hat. "You look like you bought out the store child." Grampa said. "Buy? Did you say buy? Grampa Jessy doesn't buy, guys buy for her. All she does is smile and flirt and they give her anything her heart desires. See I got a pen, a lousy stinky pen." Chele pouted. "Oh it doesn't hurt to be nice." Jessy said. "If I had boobs like yours it wouldn't hurt." Chele teased. "Girls, down girls. No cat fights in the house." Grampa laughed. "You can borrow them anytime after tonight. I"m blading to talk to the gang. I wonder if any of them are thinking of going to TU." Jessy said starting dinner. "It'll be done in about twenty minutes, oh that's early. I forget you're home early." Jessy said. "That's fine by me. I'm hungry." Grampa said. "Good for you, you make sure you tell that daughter of your, she's always calling to check if you've been eating." Jessy told him. "I'll call her now." he said picking up the phone and dialing as the bell rang, "Chele can you get that? Chele? Oh well." Jessy said heading to the door. "Flowers , Lawyer Residence, for a Jessy." the delivery man said. "That would be me. Here." Jessy said handing him a couple of bucks. "Wow" she said taking them to the dining room table, placing them in the center, picking out the card. "Please forgive me, I'm sorry I was rude. Grampa's Jerky Grandson." Jessy read wondering if he meant it or if it was part of the continual picking he enjoyed doing to her. She decided to give it a rest and returned to fixing dinner, slipping the card in her back pocket. "Good you're back, someone wants to talk to you." Grampa said. "Hey" Jessy said expecting to hear his daughter's voice. "Jessy please don't hang up. It's me Jerky Grandson. "Oh hey JG" she said, adding, "I just got the flowers. They're very nice, I have them on the dining room table. Thank you I guess" Jessy said without much feeling in her voice. "I'm really sorry. I was angry about something else and for some reason I took it out on you and you didn't deserve it. I know it's hard to forget the rotten things I've said but It wasn't you, I don't even know you. I can't tell you why I didn't, just that I'm sorry I did." Zac said. "It hurt when you called me a snitch. I just mentioned it while trying to explain you called, but I didn't know who called, and wasn't sure if he needed to call back, I'm sure he thought my frustration was because you hung up, not because I was nervous, everything happening at once, the phone, the door , dinner on the stove. I didn't say it for him to have you chewed out. I'm really not a snitch." Jessy pleaded. "I know it and I'm sorry I called you one. It all went downhill because of name calling. You'd think I'd grow up." Zac dissed himself. "Don't be so hard on yourself. I'm guilty or don't you remember being called Chicken Boy." Jessy reminded. "Oh that was a slam I though you knew I love to eat chicken. It's one of my favorites." Zac laughed. "You're funny." Jessy laughed. "Hey we laughed together, that's a first." Zac said. "Wow and we haven't snapped each others head off in all of what fifteen minutes, that's a record for us." Jessy said and they laughed again. "I gotta go help make dinner. Lucky me." Zac said. "That's what I'm doing right now. Almost done. We're eating early tonight then I'm going blading with my friends." Jessy said hoping he'd come so they could meet but too shy to ask. "I hope you have a good time. Where you going the school or the park?" Zac asked. "The park." Jessy said draining the vegetable. "Hey maybe I'll see you there if I can get a ride. What do you look like?" Zac asked knowing the answer. "Long blonde hair, 5'6", okay looking, I don't make babies cry, but sometime big boys do." she said. "You sound interesting. What you going to be wearing?" he asked. "My TU tank, jeans, TU cap, I went out there today and checked things out and picked up and application for the class of 2004. That's the reason I took the job for your Grampa. It's the only way I could talk my mom into letting me come and stay for any length of time, so I could see if I'd like it here. I really like your Grampa." she said. "He really likes you to that why I decided to apologize. I haven't seen him this happy since Grandmother died. I figured you had to be a good person if he loved you so I just had to try and make things right." Zac said. "That's so nice of you to say. Thanks. You know I don't think you're such a JG after all." Jessy said. "If I can't find a ride can I call you later?" Zac asked. "Sure I'd like that." Jessy said. "Good. I'll see you if I can catcha ride or call you after dark if I can't. Goodbye Jessy." Zac said. "Bye have fun making dinner." Jessy said. "Real funny, I hate kitchen duty." Zac complained. "I'll do kitchen duty with you one of these days and you'll learn to like kitchen duty." Jessy said, adding, "I really gotta go Grampa's hungry. bye." Jessy quickly prepared three plates and delivered them to the dining room and the three sat to dinner enjoying the flowers and Grampa really enjoyed the food, he had seconds. After dinner was done and the dishes done and cleaned. Jessy changed in to her tight fitting jeans, placing the flower card in her mirror frame. She brushed her hair, packed her CDplayer in her new back pack threw in her Hanson CD's along with a sweater. "Sis you change your mind, you ought to come tonight there's a chance Grampa's grandson is going to show up." Jessy said. "Jerky Grandson?" Chele asked. "Yeppers" Jessy smiled. "Wow this I wouldn't miss. I'll go change now that I see the required attire." Chele said rushing to change. "Hey Grampa, we're both going blading, be back at dark. There's a plate of leftovers. Zap it for 15 or 20 seconds and it should warm it." Jessy said. "Sounds good." Grampa laughed, adding, "Have a good time my girls." "Thanks Grampa." they said each hugging and kissing him goodbye. They put on their blades and we're headed down the short cut, "I warned you about Ash the Jerk right?" Jessy asked. "Yes Jessy a million times I'm sure I'll pick him out right away." Chele said as the bladed to the park. "I hope he came." Jessy said as they entered, noticing the large crowd. "Wow wonder what's up?" Jessy said. "What's up?" Chele asked someone on the outside of the group. "Hanson is here, all of them for a change." the girl said. "All my luck his grandson is coming to apologize and I get a chance to see Hanson up close and personal. I have to look for his Grandson. You can stay Chele?" Jess said heading out to see if she could find his grandson, "If you should get the chance to meet them remember me." Jessy pouted. She skated the entire park but nothing. She loaded her player, turned it on, placed it in the pack, slipped the headphones on and skated "With You In Your Dreams" "Wow look everybody." someone shouted and pointed towards Jessy. "Go Jessy." Ash called. "Where?" Zac asked and stood gawking at her graceful movement. "Wonder what she's skating to?" Zac asked. "My sister would be skating to your "With You In Your Dreams" Chele said and Tay spun around to see her sitting on the fence. Their eyes met and she smiled so sweetly. "I'd say she's listening to Live. Money should be next, then her all time favorite." The crowd parted and watched as Taylor made his way to Chele, "Hey I'm Taylor Hanson." he said extending his hand, Chele smiled and placed hers in his, "Chele Lappert." "Your sister is good. Really good." Taylor said. "Yeah she's always skated and you add that to her favorite music and this is what you get. Taylor?" she asked. "Yeah Chele?" Taylor answered. "Can I ask you to help me down, I've been stuck here for a while. I can't remember how I got up here." Chele laughed and was so relieved when he extended his arms and placed his hands under her arms and lifted her off the fence. "Oh thanks my butt was really starting to hurt." she said kissing him on the cheek while rubbing her butt. "Thanks for rescuing me, I better get Jessy and head home it's starting to get dark. I guess he couldn't make it after all. She's going to be disappointed. Thanks again Taylor." Chele said as she skated off. "Chele wait, he came. Chele" Taylor yelled after her. He watched her skate up to Jessy, saying something that made her sad and the two skated off, taking the short, cut racing towards home.
