Day Has Come

Part Thirty-one

The next few weeks were filled with the boys in the studio working hard at the set for the upcoming concert. "Man, we have to blow them away guys. I'm going to have a wife to support soon. I need this job." Zac explained. "Yeah I know where you're coming from. It's pretty deep I mean you're responsible for someone else." Isaac said staring into space. "What's up guys?" Dad asked. "Oh Zac here just put us on the responsibility trip. You know marrying and being responsible for another person." Taylor said. "Scary. Zac just accept and don't think about it so much, it will come natural. Bound to the way you love that girl, just like I love your mother." he said staring off into space. "Man, I said I need this job." Zac reminded and they all laughed. "Did you convince Jessy to sing yet. There's one way to create more interest, get her to Wow the audience." Taylor asked. "Yeah if I find her the right song, hint hint, write me the right song is how she puts it" Zac said. "A song for Jessy, huh. That's a tuffy, she sounds good singing anything. She sings with such emotion. Probably a love song, but I heard her singing a little hip-hop the other day, you know how I hate that stuff, but I was just drawn to her voice." Isaac said. "Yeah she just demands your attention when she sings, almost hypnotic." Taylor said. "Why not re-release something Zac." Dad suggested. "Like what?" Zac asked. "Well your brother stopped singing "More Than Anything" a couple years ago why not that?" he answered. "Oh man she'd be so good at it." Isaac said. "Yeah she would." Taylor said. "What? What's going on in that head of yours?" Isaac asked of Zac's furled brow. Zac picked up the phone and dialed. "Hey babe. What's up?" he asked her when she answered the phone. "Hey Zac. Missing you and just got off line with Momma. They're too busy to come down now. She must be good for business, she's singing all the way to the bank. She promised they'd be here for the concert. How's it coming?" Jessy asked. "That's why I called. Ike is being a jerk and refusing to sing "More Than Anything". I can't imagine the concert without it. Taylor won't sing it, you know it's Ike song. It just wouldn't be right. Now he's got me feeling the same way. I was wondering if you'd do it for me? You know the fans don't know you and they might accept it coming from someone new. It would be a great way for me to introduce you to them and let them know we're getting married in a few months. I'd even play for you if it would help. Then you could sing to me." Zac said. "Ouch. Totally unfair. Zac how long have you been planning this?" Jessy asked. "Honest babe, we were just talking about the song and you came to mind. If you don' believe me, ask Dad, he was here when we started discussing it. How it had been a couple of years since he sang it, is all. He says he'd taken it as far as he could. That's when I started picturing you singing it, you could do the song justice Jessy. I think you'd sound great. You could add that whatever it is you do to a song and drive us wild, the way you do." Zac said. "So Daddy's there huh?" Jessy asked. "Here Dad tell her." Zac said handing him the phone. "Hi sweetie. Yeah I was here, when they argued over the song and you could see the wheels turning in Zac's head. I agree with him Jessy, you would do that song proud. Not that I'm prejudiced or anything. All my babies are so talented, especially you." Dad said. "Oh Daddy you do know what to say. Maybe I'll come out and try it. I was just wasting time anyway, Grampa went to visit someone in the hospital and would let me come along. His friend is bad off, I think Grampa wants to be with him at the ends, you know so he isn't alone I guess. Oh that's right I don't have a way out there, what was I thinking." Jessy said. "I'll be there in ten minutes sweetie." Dad said. "It's a date. Bye Daddy." Jessy answered. "Diana, Jessy said Dad is at the hospital visiting a friend who's dying, he doesn't want him to be alone. Do you know who?" he asked. "Who dear?" Diana asked. "I don't know that's what I asked you." he said as she picked up the phone. "Hey sweetie, it's Mom. Did Daddy say who he was visiting. I didn't know any of his friends was sick Jessy. I try to keep up with his life." she explained. "Mom I know. He got a call early this morning. When he told me about him, I had the feeling Grampa didn't want him to be alone at the end is all. I offered to go Mom and he said it was no place for a little girl. Mom he hasn't called me a little girl, since the first we met and he said I reminded him of his little girl. I've been his Princess ever since then. You know he went on line, I'm dialing up Gramma know maybe he told her. I've mailed her, now to see if she's around. I got mail, "Hey my Jessy. Grampa said he got a call from the hospital, an old Army buddy was dying and he wanted me to know he was going to be with him so he wouldn't be alone at the end is all. Hope it helps. Luv ya Gramma D." So it's an Army buddy Mom." Jessy said. "Maybe I'll go sit with him for a while keep him company." Mom said. "I'll make him his favorite sandwich, you can take that along, tell him I was worried but knew he didn't want me there so his older little girl came instead." Jessy suggested. "Oh Jessy that's great he couldn't turn me away then, could he?" Mom said. "I don't see how he could. Is Daddy on his way?" Jessy asked. "He's kissing me goodbye right now sweetie. Jessy, thanks for loving my father." Mom said. "He's my Grampa, Mom. Of course I love him." Jessy said saying goodbye and quickly making Grampa's, all time favorite sandwich, a half for his buddy, packing it to go and rushing upstairs to change. She was on the phone with Chele when Daddy arrived. "I'm on the phone with Sis." Jessy said. "That's taken care of, left a note for Grampa in case he's on his way home before Mom finds him. I'm set. Thanks for coming to get me Daddy." Jessy said hugging him. "You know I love to get you to myself. Zac just doesn't share when it comes to you." Dad said as the made their way home.
