"I can't believe it. It's finally happening, the day has come." Jessy said to herself keeping her eyes on the tail lights in front of her. "Why did we stop so much, we should be there. I bet Chele's there." She thought cursing brothers and weak bladders and all the pit stops they had made. "Ahhhhh! Tulsa. It said Tulsa." Jessy screamed rolling down the window and howling her joy. As a van passed and hands went flying and someone hollered back. She beeped her horn and they blared their's back. "Nice people at least. Didn't see one finger." she chuckled to herself. The van exited and slowed to wave and holler, Jessy whipped her head around. "Nah, you're just paranoid girl. That was not Hanson." she said to herself. "Man was she a looker, Michigan plates, probably just passing through, that's always our luck it about time our day has come, wouldn't you say Tay." Zac asked his eyes still on the little white car and the girl at the wheel. "You're going to twist your head off if you don't stop straining to see her Zac." Isaac said watching him in the rear view mirror. "She looked nice is all." Zac said. "Girls look hot or not, not nice Zac." Taylor said. "Out of state plates anyway, you won't see her again." Isaac said. "You're wrong." Zac said and looked out the window. "What's up with him." Isaac asked. "He really wanted to tour this summer. I mean he understands your not wanting to but he's still disappointed." Taylor said. "He has a name, it's Zac. He can answer simple questions, like what's up with him." Zac barked. "Man I'm sorry it's just things are still so new between us. I don't know if Mandy can handle fans. Besides it will give us time to write some serious music and get it recorded." Isaac explained. "Ike there will always be fans, it's a part of life, why protect her. Unless you plan on changing your life." Zac said and turned looking out the back window. "Hey there she is. Huh. Told you. Turn on the next street and head west." Zac asked. "Babe hunt huh? Ain't done that in a while." Isaac said taking the next left and speeding west. "There she goes. Get over and turn, don't lose her." Zac said. "Good the light got her. Make this light and we've got her." Taylor said. "Shit man look at her drive, does she know we're chasing her." Isaac said watching the little white car race of the line and swerve through traffic as if on a mission. "There's the fire, she's headed after that van with out of state plates. They're turning in the Bus Depot. Follow them. Pull in and park I want to watch." Zac said and the van pulled to a stop and they turned to watch. "Look at that angel coming out of the Depot. I've died and gone to heaven." Taylor said. "Hey I thought you hooked up with, Mom said you were back together just last week." Isaac asked. "I'm not dead man." Taylor complained. "Mine knows yours, look at them. You'd think they hadn't seen each other in a year or so." Zac said watching the girls hug and cry and walk into the station surrounded by a woman and two younger boys. "Chele you're more beautiful every year, child. What am I saying you're no child, nineteen, I can't believe it. My little girl is nineteen." Barbara said tears filling her eyes. "Oh don't cry Mome2 you'll get me started. I wish you would stay, a week or so. Boys, come on don't you love your sister no more." she asked hugging the youngest Sam. "Don't be doing that, people will talk I'm hitting on older women." Sam blushed. "You're getting so old." Chele complained. "What thirteen and fifteen, guys?" she asked. "Yep and no we aren't staying, we go reservations for a trail ride. Mom's driving a wagon for two weeks." Josh said. "And why?" Mom said. "Because we all had perfect attendance and are on the honor roll." Sam said. "Way to go guys. I know that wasn't easy. Knew you could though. And you miss smarty pants, what's this mome2 bragged on you. Impressive." Chele said. "I need it up there if I'm getting into Tulsa U, I need that scholarship money." Jessy said. "Don't ask mome2 I don't know yet. I really think I want the year off before I go. I decided I'll work this summer job and see. If I can't get in then it wasn't meant to be." Chele said. "Well let's get you settled so we can get back on the road." Barbara said. "We can handle it mome2, I've talked to them so much I could find the place in the dark. I just spoke to him right before you came in, he's waiting up for us. We'll be fine. If the two of us can't beat off and eighty plus year old, we don't want to." Chele laughed. "I'll be back in a little under three weeks, I got my cell even on the prairie, giddy up." Barbara laughed. "I need my head examined, going back a hundred years in time while leaving my babies in a strange town." Barbara said as they paid the check and got up to leave when the boys returned from the bathroom. "I'll call Sunday afternoons, after you've gone to church and take that old man with you." Barbara yelled as she pulled out into traffic and disappeared and the girls squealed spinning circles then raced to the car and fought over who's driving. "Mine will win, she's stubborn." Zac said. "Mine is too much of a lady to fight." Taylor said. "Boy are you wrong. Best damn arm lock I've seen in a while. What do you say mr. mine's stubborn?" Isaac laughed. "There she goes. Slippery little devil isn't she." Zac said watching her slip out of the hold like a pro wrestler and dive in the driver's seat and produced the keys and started the car. "Mine's too much of a lady to fight a fight she can't win." Taylor laughed. "Follow them." Zac said. "Man we got to get home. Mom will think we were mobbed or something." Isaac complained. "Follow them until they are going out of our way. Will start the search at that point." Taylor said. "Okay" Isaac gave into their demands. "That looks like the van from the highway. Man let me tell you how freaky I is, I thought it was Hanson. Laugh my ass off." Jessy said. "Oh Jessy you know down deep that's why we're here this summer. The only reason down deep we still believe." Chele said hit the player and "Day Has Come" played and the girls sang along. "Hey they're fans, listen "Day Has Come" Zac said and the guys sang along. "Do you hear that Chele?" Jessy asked. "Yeah like someone playing the same tune with the vocals cranked. Cool. Straight ahead sis." Chele answered as the van followed. "Headed into grandpa's neighborhood guys. Pick up the search by visiting Grandpa, he keeps track of the neighborhood. If those girls are there, Grandpa will know." Isaac said turning west again. "Chele there's that van again. Creepy." Jessy said. "It turned. Just a coincidence." Chele said. "Two more blocks. That house right there." Chele said as Jessy pulled in the driveway. The girls grabbed their bags and hit the front porch. "Chele, Jessy, you girls are prettier than your picture. Come in girls." Mr. Lawyer said. "Mr Lawyer" Chele started . "Girls I'm grandpa, papa, you pick no more Mr. stuff okay?" he said. "Cool by me I always wanted a Grandpa but I guess I should worn you, I must play too hard with them because they keep dying on me." Jessy teased. 'You I like already. Play as hard as you want. I'm too awnry to die. You girls get the upstairs. Plenty of room. Grandkids come every now and then, but don't worry they can sleep anwhere, you make yourselves comfortable. I'll go get milk and cookes ready and you go take your things up and meet me in there, the kitchen when you are ready." he said as the girls headed up the stairs. "Dibs on this room." Jessy said tossing her bags on the bed. "Morning sun." she explained. "Then I want the one across from you with no morning sun, evening stars only." Chele said and dropped her bags and the two raced down stairs and Jessy hopped on the bannister and rode down almost falling on her butt. "That'll teach you to act like a lady." Chele laughed. The three sat and talked about everything for about an hour, when the ringing phone interrupted. "Hello. Oh hello dear. Yes they are finally here. We were just getting to know each other. I like them, especially the youngest one, she's a spitefire just like you were." he laughed. "My daughter said welcome and she can't wait to meet you both. Sunday afternoon for dinner after church." he asked. "Oh that's when mom said she would call, do you think we could make it another day, you should still go though." Jessy said explaining where Mom was headed and why. The three talked until almost 1a.when Chele insisted she had to go to bed because she had to report to work in the morning and the girls headed up to the first night's sleep in Tulsa.
