Day Has Come

Part Seven

"You should have heard her. Isaac had you heard her, you'd be ashamed of your decision. She's living proof our fans are still there and dedicated as ever. Man I know she likes me the No Longer Jerky Grandson, but she put all that on the line for Hanson. She accused me of being Anti-Hanson Fan, told me that if I was, we were through, there was no way she'd change her mind. She said that I should listen to really hear Hanson's music, that if I did it would make things clear. Man I've never heard our music described that way, but it's true." Zac said. "And we sitting around doing nothing." Taylor said. "We should be out there, giving them what they want. When did we go wrong? When did we forget them?" Zac asked. "You changed the reording since you got home?" Taylor asked him. "Okay. Enough. Yeah, I see what your saying. I miss it too. You're right Tay. I'll change the recording now. I should have let them know I was home." Isaac said and headed out. "Zac what you going to do. She accused Zac Hanson of being Anti-Hanson. Man she finds out who you are now, she's going to whoop your sorry ass." Taylor said shaking his head, laughing at the image, adding, "You two sure prove that Fine Line between Love and Hate theory. This is one of the most absurd relationships, leave it to you Whacky Zacky." Taylor laughed. "Not funny. You'll be laughing because there's no way in hell you can go after Goddess Chele now without her finding out the connection." Zac laughed back. "What keep me out of your twisted relationship dude. No way am I not going after the girl of my dreams, because you can keep your love life straight." Taylor said. "Fine, you date Chele and I'll tell Jessy the truth now before I have a chance to straighten this out and as Chele is holding her crying sister, she's really going to want to date the likes of a Hanson, even Taylor Hanson. She'll throw you out so fast and never speak to you again. There's a slim chance that Jessy and I can work our way through this, I'll get down on my knees everyday and beg her to forgive me. Maybe someday, she'll finally forgive me, but Chele will never want to see you again." Zac said. "You're rotten, you would wouldn't you." Taylor accused. "As she says, Damn Straight. I may confess to Chele instead of Jessy and beg her to help explain it to Jessy. And I wouldn't think twice." Zac said. "Man this is blackmail." Taylor complained. "All is fair in love and war." Zac said, adding, "If my romance has to be hands off, so should yours. I saw her first." "Man you mess us up and I'll have to kill you and then the Zac fans will kill me, and the Taylor fans will kill the Zac fans and Isaac will be a solo act." Taylor laughed. "Me a solo act, what's this about you kicking me out of the band because I didn't change the recording. It's changed. Now I have something I want to throw at you. Let's go get breakfast." and the three made their way down stairs. "Morning boys. What's that look about Isaac?" Walker asked as the boys fixed their plate and sat at the kitchen table. "Well, you know how Zac was bummed about my decision not to tour this summer. He's not the only one. There are a lot of fans out there that we're disappointing because I was afraid of damaging my relationship with Mandy. I see know that I've let them down. While I was changing the recording, as I was talking to the Fans, it hit me, we could do a Fan Appreciation Concert saw right before school starts up again like the second week in August. So I called the Maybee Center and talked to them and we can get the Center that Friday night. I was thinking notify the membership of the concert and offer them tickets only, one per membership and if we don't sell out that way, we let the buy one more per membership. That does away with scalping, we set the ticket price to cover the cost of the concert, keeping it as low as possible to the fans. So that's my idea." Isaac said. "Man I'm speechless, I'm for it." Taylor said. "Whoa. I mean this would almost be like we we first started and barely making ends meet, Mom and Dad footing the bill, driving us there, Mom selling souveniors, Dad running the show with camera in hand. Dad you want to pay for college educations. Go through all those boxes and put together a tape that takes us from the beginning, singing at the dinner table and highlights of all the years through now. You could sell that at the concert, the fans would eat it up and you'd be a millionaire." Zac said. "Wow. I'd thought of that once a long time ago." Walker said, adding, "I pulled some of it together. You're right the fans are dying for it." "What's that give us barely two months to pull this together." Dad asked. "Dad we can do this if it's for the fans, we don't need the publicity, they hype, just Hanson and their fans. But I say we decide yes or no now, and go get the Center and within a few days notify the membership. We'll need a Temp Service to set up an office and run it all ourselves, Hanson Rules for a change." Isaac said. "Mother how do you feel about this?" Walker asked. "We did it before by ourselves. It can only be better, we're pros at this now." Diana said. "Go Mom. I say go for it." Zac said. "Go for it" Taylor said. "Go for it" Isaac said. "Go boys" Walker said. "One of you go to the Maybee Center get now." Diana said. "Yes mother." Isaac said, adding, "Join me Dad?" "I wouldn't miss it for the world. Let me grab the latest contract and see what headaches we can avoid." Walker said heading to the office. "Zac let's design the invitation for the membership, Mom paper and pen?" Taylor asked. "Taylor Hanson do I look like your maid. Get up and get it yourself." Diana said, adding, "While your up I'll take another cup of coffee." "Yes, mother." Taylor said shaking his head. "Go Mom." Zac laughed. "Zac what's happening with Jessy?" Mom asked. "This is all because of Jessy. She's such a dedicated fan. She blows me away." Zac said with a distant look in his eyes as he thought of Jessy skating last night. "Earth to Zac" Mom said. "Huh..um well last night we were getting along fine until I joked about one of our songs and she accused me of being an Anit-Hanson Fan, and I didn't stop her right away, and she chewed me up and spite me out on Hanson's behalf. She chewed me out for me. Mom how does it get so out of control so fast. One minute we were telling each other how much we really like each other, and a few jokes later she's ready to kick my ass again. Now I'm afraid to let her know who I am. Mom it hurts so." Zac said lowering his head. "My poor baby. Zac you've always said things off the cuff, sticking you're foot in it over and over. All I can tell you is just be honest with her. If it's meant to be things will work out somehow." Diana said holding her son. "Chele come on now or you will be late for work" Jessy yelled up the stairs. "Morning Jessy how are you today.?" Grampa asked. "Oh life sucks big time." Jessy said. "Now what did he do?" Grampa asked. "Why do you think he did something?" Jessy asked. "Because you get flowers from my Jerky Grandson and you're on cloud nine. You look like you feel of the cloud sweetie." Grampa said hugging her. "Oh Grampa you were right, I really like him. But we have another major hurdle and I'm not sure if we'll make it over together." Jessy said. "There you are, I was about to send out missing posters." Jessy teased. "Oh Jessy, so dramatic. Jessy what's wrong? Oh sis I could wring his scrawny neck." Chele said hugging her. "We don't have time for this or you'll be late for work. It'll keep until tonight. Have a nice day at work, here's your toast and a commuter cup of coffee Sis." Jessy said being brave and smiling, waving as she pulled out of the driveway. She fixed breakfast, but hardly ate a thing herself, excusing herself and running upstairs throwing herself on the bed crying. Grampa finished taking his plate to the sink and rinsing it. He noticed the cookies and quickly wrote a note, "Jessy sweetie, things will get better. I'm sorry you are so sad. I'm running an errand be back in an hour or so. Love Grampa." and taped it to the bannister, picked up the cookies and drove to his daughter's house. "Surprise" Grampa said entering. "Dad what a wonderfu surprise. Come in Come in. Walker Daddy's here. Oh why am I yelling, he's with Isaac. Taylor, Zac, Mackie, Jessie, Avie, Zoe come here please." Diana called. "Here these are for you guys." he said handing her the cookies. "How sweet she is." Diana said shaking her head, "Daddy have you heard the latest." Diana said. "All I know is she really likes him enought to be home bawling her eyes out over the fact they have another major hurdle in their way and she's afrid they won't make it over together, is how she put it. What's going on." her father asked. "Daddy this is going to kill Zac. He is so confused. He's afraid to let her know who he is now, it appears she thinks he's an anit-Hanson fan and he didn't stop her. She is such a dedicated fan that she risked their relationship for the band. It such a mess." Diana said. "Who needs soap opera, the life and trials of Zac and Jessy." Grampa said. "It's not funny." Zac said running back up the stairs. "Zac I didn't mean it that way." Grampa said. "Diana give me a glass of milk and one of those cookies, I'll go talk to him." he said as he hugged and kissed his other grandchildren. They all had cookies and milk while Grampa visited with Zac. "Can I come in?" Grampa asked as he entered. "I left home this morning because Jessy was doing the same thing. Flung across her bed, crying her eyes out over you. Now here you are crying your eyes out over her. Zac why didn't you stop her the minute she said your dissed Hanson. Why didn't you just tell her, you're Zac Hanson, boy." Grampa asked. "I don't know. When she's excited she talks non-stop Grampa. I guess I was waiting for her to finish and now we are." Zac said shaking his head. "Zac this is part my fault, I shoud have told the girls the truth when the first showed up, introduced, but at least explained it to her and you wouldn't be having this problem." Grampa said, adding, "This is for you. I bet she baked these for you didn't she." Grampa handed Zac the plate with the monster cookie on it. "I couldn't eat it, I'm sure she didn't ask you to bring them." Zac said. "I told you Zac, she's home hurting, crying her eyes out over you. Cookies are the last thing on her mind. But maybe if you ate this cookie, you could call her and thank her at least, if theyre good you can tell her that. She probably won't answer, but there is always the machine and if you can sound sorry enough, she can listen to it over and over and maybe she'll forgive you sooner." Grampa said. "Do you think so Grampa?" Zac asked eating his cookie. "They're delicious." he said, eagerly eating his cookie. "Grampa do you think you could take Jessy and I fishing?" Zac asked. "Are you thinking of apologizing in the middle of the lake." Grampa asked. "Where would she go? She'd have to listen to me. She could drown me but I'm drowning here anyway." Zac said waiting for Grampa's answer. "It's worth a try. Let me take you out to the property, and drop you off and you can row out to the middle and wait for us to show up." Grampa said heading downstairs while Zac called Jessy. "Jessy it's me. I'm not an anti-Hanson fan Jessy honest I'm not. I should have stopped you when you first said it. I should have stopped you and told you I'm not. But I made a mistake and waited for you to finish. When you finished you were out to whoop my ass again. I don't know how it happened. One minute we're telling each other how much we care about each other and the next, I'm the sum of the earth again. Please Jessy you have to believe me I'm sorry, I didn't mean for this to happen. I'm sorry you're hurting over this, it's tearing me apart too." Zac sighed and hung up. "I'm sorry too." Jessy cried waiting for the tape to rewind and playing it over and over. An hour later Grampa returned and insisted they go fishing instead of moaping around the house. She packed lunch and the two headed out.
