A third day has been added to the schedule for A Day in the Garden, the music festival taking place Aug. 14 to 16 at the site of the original Woodstock Festival in Bethel, N.Y. The acts announced so far for the Aug. 16 show include Third Eye Blind, Joan Osborne, Marcy Playground, the Goo Goo Dolls, and Dishwalla—in other words, a significantly different show than classic-rock lineup of the first two days, which feature headliners Pete Townshend, Joni Mitchell, Stevie Nicks, and Don Henley, among others.

Festival producer Danny Socolof tells Wall of Sound that when the Garden organizers conceived the event, they wanted to close with "a young, cool set—a nod to the future. We're really giving a platform for artists who are breaking and emerging today to come out there, and that's the whole thought and creative concept behind the third day." Other acts are still to be named to the bill, and Socolof says the Smashing Pumpkins were approached, but did not give an answer. 1
