This CD is proof that hard work does pay off. One of the nicest people in the Canberra Music Scene, well respected bass player Paul Sweens is most famous for his work with Liquid who acheived nation wide and international recognition with their JJJ unearthed victory a few years back. After the demise of this band paul packed up his bags and took a trip to Ireland, which proved to be the inspiration for this CD package. After months of hanging out in Ireland taking in the landscapes, drinking and jamming with the locals, the newly inspired Sweens, returned and recorded with some other well known Canberran musician buddies of his and this is the result. Much more akin to traditional Irish folk music than his previous rawcous rock image, this is a classy effort. A wide variety of instruments feature here aside from normal guitars and bass etc.. theres cello, sax, mandolins, flutes etc... all woven in intricately to make up this package of very well written songs. Add to this some impressive guitar work and refelctive lyrics and you have a very classy package, making this something that demands closer listening. Best listen whilst relaxing me thinks. Recent gigs at the Rock Ape have proven successful as a launching pad to a massive CD launch at the Aree Bar and back to the Ape supporting Wendy Rule. Good on ya Sweens, I hope you acheive all that this album deserves!
