This is my page dedicated to The Slayers, a popular Japanese animation series that came out in 1997 and is still popular. I only really got into anime in the last few months, starting with Ghost in the Shell (which is STILL my favorite anime movie...whole other topic I could get on, however this isn't officially my ramble page!). Then, I've only been into The Slayers for about two months. I LOVE IT!
The storyline centers around a girl named Lina Inverse, a young, powerful sorceress, and the people she comes in contact with during her adventures. It makes for some interesting and hilarious misadventures as well. I won't really go into detail, since I'm not really dedicating this part of my page to the show itself, but rather two characters from that show.
Those two characters are Xelloss and Filia. Xelloss and Filia aren't what you would call the ideal couple in the show. They fight, bicker, argue, annoy each other, and are supposed to be mortal enemies. But in the minds of crazy hopeless romantics like myself, who finds herself searching the web relentlessly for new fanfics and fanart, who finally ends up having to write her own and draw her own because she gets tired of looking at the same thing all the time. At any rate, I finally found a wonderful, outstanding, amazing, truly-God-sent mailing list called "The Dragon and the Demon" about our two great characters.
I digress, quite drastically. Xelloss and Filia are a couple to a lot of people like me who wish it were so in the show. They aren't real people, they're just characters we like to have fun with.
Xelloss, in the show, is a Mazoku (from the subtitled version) and a monster in the dubbed version. Since I've only watched the dubbed version and heard about the subbed version, I'll stick with what I know from the dubbed version. He is a very secretive person, really only allowed to tell whatever his master tells him he can tell. He's very loyal to his master, Zelas Metallium. He is also very powerful, though he rarely shows the full extent of his power. He takes the form of a (really cute) man with dark purple hair and a secretive smile.
Filia is a Golden Dragon, and a Shrine maiden or priestess of the Fire Dragon King. She hates Xelloss because, long ago, he slaughtered most of her race. It was during the War of the Monsters Fall, where a lot of monsters were killed, as well as a lot of dragons.
It's true, they are supposed to hate each other. But those of us with an eye for a potential romance believe that there was something underlying all of those harsh words, snide remarks, and hateful comments that they flung at each other. And those times Filia bashes Xelloss with her mace? Love taps. ^_^
Why do I think they are a couple? Well, because I've read so many fanfics that it's become imbedded in my brain. Just kidding. I really think the aspect of Light vs. Dark, or in their case as a couple, Light Joins Dark, they balance each other out. L-Sama, the Lord of the Slayers World, is the creator of the Mazoku race. She is full of chaos. The world has to have a balance of chaos in order to function. Think about it. If Xellos and Filia became a couple, their world would BE chaos! I think that they would have a good relationship, but not everything works out the way you want it to. Sometimes outside forces will corrupt things and screw things up. Chaos. But like the saying from the movie, "The Crow" says, "Buildings burn, people die, but real love is forever." What that has to do with this is, even if Xellos and Filia's love faced obstacles, real love will endure.
There's my rant on this page. It should've gone on the ramble page, but it fits here, I think. Anyway, that's why I like them as a couple. I like to explore different aspects of different things, especially in a series like The Slayers.
