RETURNABLES SHAKE THE ELECTION!
Friday • November 3, 2000
CHICAGO - Even though jet-setting pop stars The Returnables abandoned their own presidential campaign months ago, they may still have a profound impact in Tuesday's election.
The Associated Press recently uncovered a photo of Bobby James Lee Ray and former drummer Swanson Nelsen partying with an obviously intoxicated Texas Governor George W. Bush.

Bush has repeatedly stated on the campaign trail that his hard-drinking days were behind him, but this photo, taken in August of '99 during the Returnables' southwest tour, paints an entirely different picture.
The Bush campaign could not be reached for comment, but Bobby James Lee Ray was quick to respond. "Hey, G.W. said 'put the party on the table and let's get this thing going.' What was I gonna say? I just couldn't believe he wore tighty whities."
