I have been a fan of Madonna for as long as I can remember. Being that I am currently 27 years old, I would have to say for about 17 years maybe longer. She has been a role model to me and many of my friends. Unfortunately, she has been misunderstood throughout the years. Her beauty and style make her irresistable to men and women alike. The variety of her music is really incredible. She is the most influential female artist to date. Here you will find some gorgeous pictures of the goddess throughout the years, courtesy of ok82 on the Madonna Haven club page. | |||||||||||||
I would like to set the record straight about the whole American Pie controversy. Alot of people are saying that she had no right to remake the classic Don McLean song American Pie. But I feel this is a little hypocritical. There have been others who have remade this song and there hasn't been this big of a fuss over them. One inparticul that comes to mind is Garth Brooks. I personally am a huge fan of Garth and I have him doing the song on video tape. So Madonna changed the song a little bit, the times called for it, and let's not loose sight of the fact that the song was done for a movie. Madonna herself has said that she was lery of redoing the song. It really wasn't her call, so please cut her some slack. I really feel that the only reason that people are upset about it is because it is Madonna. Here is a news clip concerning the matter. |

Sunday February 27 Madonna Worried About Song Remake NEW YORK (AP)- Madonna wasn't sure if she could do justice to Don McLean's 1971 classic "American Pie" She told the New York Daily News for Sunday's editions she recorded her own version of McLean's homage to Buddy Holly, Ritchie Valens and the Big Bobber for her new movie "The Next Best Thing" at the urging of co-star Rupert Everett. "I thought, 'Who am I to do a cover of a pop classic?' But I was working in the studio on other music, and it was like, 'OK, let's just try it.' And it kind of worked, to my surprise." Everett also lends his voice to the song in distant background vocals. "To me, it's a real millennium song," Madonna said, "We're going through a big change in terms of the way we veiw pop culture, because of the Internet. In a way, it's like saying goodbye to music as we know it- and to pop culture as we know it." |
