ALEX'S PAGE!
Thanks for this great pic from: The Rush Theme Park
Alex is one of the most impressive
lead guitarists I've heard in my life. He can make a guitar sound beautiful on any song at all. The only one I can compare to him might be Eddie Van Halen. But their different styles of rock music makes Alex my favorite. I love to watch the expressions he makes when he is really getting into
certain parts that he plays. The way he's able to use the entire neck of that guitar is totally awesome. And to also be able to use an extension rod (I don't know the correct name)that is attached to give forth a different sound, and also work the foot peddles, would certainly seem to require incredible talent. Well, Alex can do this as if it were nothing at all to it. All that is needed for proof of that is to listen to 1978's "La Villa Strangiato" or 1991's "Where's My Thing" or "1981's "Red Barchetta", only to name a few, for you to be convinced that he is definetly one of the very best lead guitarists. One ability I've never seen before in any other band is the ability to converse during performances, while they are actually playing their instruments. But I've seen this awesome lead guitarist and his bassist fellow bandmember, Geddy Lee do just that! Alex is just but one leg that makes up the tripod they named "RUSH".
ALEX IS THE MAN!
My page won't repeat all the good
facts I've found on others web sites because redundancy makes for a dissatisfied
visitor. I will tell you how I came to be a Rush lover.
When my son came home to live with me, my exposure to Rush's music was occasional. Although I'd heard of Rush since around 1981 through my friend at work, I still could only recall one song by this group as of 2 1/2 years ago. "Red Sector A", which I loved. It had remained one of my favorites throughout the years. I'd like to add at this point that I had sort of given up listening to worldly music due to religious convictions at about this same time and really have only begun to listen to it again for about the past 5 years or so. Anyhow, my son played a few of Rush's songs for me that he thought I would like (since he knows
my taste in music pretty well), and he was right! Not only did I
like them, but I also recognized many of them as ones I had heard played on the radio on and off throughout all those years. Amazing, wasn't it? Especially "Tom Sawyer", "Working Man", "Limelight", and others from around that time frame that got air play. It turned out that I liked most of the ones even during their popular period of time. So to bring this long story to a wrap, he recorded all the 16 cd's (not the compilations) for me, and now, every night at work I listen to them. I'd like to say I listen to them all each and every night, but as it goes with more and more of their songs, I kinda get hung up on certain ones,
and play them to death (literally). He now has to re-record them
for me. I'll probably just go to the store and stock up on all the cd's and in turn give Rush's music sales a little boost to go along with the upcoming "Different Stages" cd set.
Right now I am currently hung up on "Power Windows". I believe it's beginning to sound a little wobbly for me now though, so I guess the tape will be breaking very soon. I guess it's time to go to the store and by those replacements!!
Thanks for listening!
