The Usual Suspects

Wow, it's kind of a long story, you know, about how we started. Though it's not all that interesting. But if you've got nothing to do for a while, you can read this to keep yourself busy. So where to begin, hmmmm, oh, the beggining. It was like the middle of the summer of 1997 and my cousin Paul, our first bass player, was like whoa! guitar is pretty cool, so I started hanging out with him because I already played and got him into it. So in no time at all I also got him into ska and punk rock. He loved it and wanted to get into all of this stuff I was doing. So then one day we were talking and he was like were both pretty good on guitar so why dont we start a ska band or maybe a punk band or something. I said thats great. Thats when I started listening to Johnny Too Bad And The Strikeouts. I was with my friends Emily Noonan, and Jessica Wood, and they showed me the infamous JTB video. It was great. So I was like, hey me and Paul want to start a ska band, you in? They both agreed. The origonal lineup was me and Paul on lead and rythem guitar, respectivly, Jess on bass and Emily, well what ever we could get her to do. We still nedded a drumer and singer. Em's brother Pory was good so Jess said he would play even though he didn't even know there was a band. So a while goes buy lots of planning and no practice. So we finally had our first practice. Wow we should have been awarded for the little we acomplished that day. Now long before all this stuff happened, like a year ago, me and my good friend Jay Berardino wanted to start a ska band, so i called him he came to like one metting and that was it he had better things to do like The Green Bay Packers and marijiuana. So the new lineup when we had our first real practice was Pat Guitar, Paul bass, Pory Drums, and Jess vocals. This was how we really started, and where the core of the band has always been, except for Jess. So we wrote and played a bunch of covers. and sucked, but kept playing dispite bad atitudes from everyone but Paul, Pory, and myself. It was like the three of us, we are the band. So we were a crappy punk band with no name, that wasn't going to do. we got our friend Marta Goral to sing and Jess was still in the band doing various tasks like keys. This lasted for a while and we also got a sax player named Scott "SKA" Adamowitsz, who is increadable on tenor sax. We wrote a lot of stuff and covered a lot of songs to but played no shows for a long time eventualy lots of things shifted and the band became Pat on guitar Paul on bass and Pory on drums, Jay and Jess on Vocals, SKA on sax and Chris Row on t-bone. It was March 27 and there was this teen talent show at the old Meriden teen center. We showed up thinking it would be great, we were good with all the practice, we thaught there would be other bands and a bunch of crappy talent acts. we were sure to win. Not so. it was all rap and dance acts we were booed of stage. the other kids screwed with our equipment and we sounded awful but by default won the band competition. i've still got the trophy. this also landed us our first real show, opening nite at the new teen coffee house in meriden, Da' Young World. I still remember Ratt from GSP calling it Da' Young Hurl. Do to the fact that the guy doing the booking was a total jack ass the show got moved and canceled after we promoted it but we finaly had the show schedualed. We practiced our asses off and wrote until we had ten songs. We were so ready. Show up at the door in a suit, and Rob Yanes drum player, and all around cool guy in another band we were playing with that night, The 5 Knuckle shuffle, our cross town rival band (who were better than us) says Joe JackAss cancled the show. We never delt with Joe again. That show was a sucess though because this cool guy Don opened the doors for us and let us put the show on. That show we had two new players Dominic Picarillo on trumpet and AAAAAAAAAAAAAAlan Bernklaw on t-bone. So to make a very long and boring story shorter. We got a p.a. practiced non stop played some shows, and got good with various member changes. Then we broke up cause Pory sucked and cancelled practice when we got to his house, and every one was frusterated and we couldnt take it so we kicked out Pory and started a new band. I was reluctant to make the change but Paul talked me into it. Well, Skatt said he wanted to sing, and we all knew Garbalosa, our old keyboard player, was a great drummer, and Paul a great guitar player. Therefore, me and Paul would play guitar, Garbalosa on drums, Skatt on vocals, and this guy Matt that Ryan new on bass. We practiced for a month or two and started playing shows, we got fucking amazing too. we had a good response, started getting booked all over the place and writing a shit load of songs, and got ready to record, then Matt and Ryan quit to play in another band and we broke up. Then after about four/five months of talking about starting a third "suspects", Paul stoped talking to me, and me and Skatt got back with Pory for one practice, then broke up for good. Me and skatt still have plans to make it big with the fucking suspects one day, no matter who's in it. i am still the Suspect, and always will be, and no one can ever fucking change that, and the spirit of this band and every thing it stands for, for you and for me, will always be with me, even if Skatt isn't there. We were great once, but never had a chance to go all the way, but im still here and you cant get rid of me that easy. I've still got work to do here.

dont fucking change, you just waste energy and alianate people.
change everything around you if you must, but dont change yourself,
cause if you do you just start living a lie, and pissing of the only
people who realy care about you.
-Pat
