Ventriloquism Karaoke originated in The Embers Avenue, a bar in Portland, Oregon.
A blurb in Entertainment Weekly lists it as one of the most unusual activities on the bar scene.
During Spring Quarter, the Famous Ashtray brought Ventriloquism Karaoke to the Blazeradio Station and it was a big hit.
What is Ventriloquism Karaoke?
Ventriloquism karaoke is just like regulation karaoke except instead of the human singing, the performance is done by a ventriloquist doll.
And instead of singing, the words are traditionally lipsynched.
This Fall:
Although Ventriloquism karaoke will not take place during fall semester
(we are no longer allowed to have speakers outside the station because of some old bag in the nearby bookstore)
, the former star of ventriloquism karaoke, Hank Lazard,
will be returning as co-host of the Famous Ashtray.
Hank took over co-host duties this summer and performed well. We look forward to his participation in the show this fall.
