Kellys conquer Romania

The great Golden Stag surprise of this year was the Kelly Family concert. Although it was said that the budget is not enough, on 18th of August at Radio Europa FM I heard the great news: Kellys are coming to the Golden Stag. In the next two days almost all newspapers confirmed the news and later it was written about this in the official site, too.
The Golden Stag is in fact a contest for new comers, but every contest night is followed by some recitals. Kellys had a concert on 4th of September and they were followed by a Romanian rock band, Iris. The audience was divided into: Iris fans and Kelly fans.
The stage was situated, as always, in the inner part of the
city, a square called Piata Sfatului, in front of
the Black Church. The artesian well
was in this year in front of the stage. The yellow, red and blue lights were reflected in
the water of the artesian well and it was looking very beautiful. The first rows were near
the edge of the artesian well. This time the capacity of the hall was not so big as in the
previous years, 2.500 seats but it was proved not to be enough for the Kelly concert.
Kellys arrived in Romania on 4th in the afternoon, in Piata Sfatului. After that, at 16,30 the sound check started. Before this, some fans received autographs from Angelo. The sound check lasted till 19,10 and the concert began at 22 o'clock, not at 21,30 as it was planned. But is was worth to wait. The concert was amazing and it lasted almost 2 hours. Between Kellys and Romanian fans was love at first sight. (for sure the fans fall in love with them).
The concert started with Jimmy's So Many Troubles. (really "so many troubles" with the audience who was too calm for a Kelly concert). Few daring fans stand up and start jumping and clapping their hands (me too) but they were forced to sit down by the people behind them. :( Despite this, Jimmy thanks to the audience during the song: "This time is special for us! We wanna thank you for having received us in your country".
After So Many Troubles,
Jimmy presents the next song, New Morals. Fans start calling Angelo's name. Joey's rock songs, Another World and Why, Why, Why are preceded
by Maite and Patricia's song, Every Baby. Joey manages the great performance to make the audience, who wasn't used
to this kind of concerts, to stand up. At Why, Why, Why many fans, even
Iris fans, start clapping their hands and they stayed with the feet on the chairs in order
to see the show better.
After this hard rock part follows Patricia's love song, No One But You. Patricia manages to move the audience with her nice look (she wears a black low cut blouse with long sleeves, only a little bottomed up (she shows her belly) and a black skirt up to the knees) as well as with her warmth and friendly cooperation with the audience: "It's a pleasure to be here. It's such a beautiful country".
Patricia's blues was followed by Paddy's I Feel Love. Paddy (who inaugurates at Brasov his new "treasures": beard and moustaches!) tries successfully to make all the audience stand up: "Ok everybody. I wanna see your hands up in the air". Everybody sings with Kellys Falling In Love and No Woman, No Cry. Near me was standing a boy who wasn't Kelly fan. At the beginning of the concert he said some ugly things about the Kellys and their songs. But at Why, Why, Why he started to move his feet after the rhythm and at No Woman, No Cry he was with his feet on the chair and sang even louder than a Kelly fan. Certainly he wasn't the only new Kelly fan who was conquered by the Kelly music. At No Woman, No Cry Maite runs from the stage down to the audience, she dances on the edge of the artesian well, shakes hand with fans, kisses a girl from the first row. After that she dances with a man who was around 40. Full of energy she runs back on the stage, holding her sandals in her hands. At the end Maite thanks to the audience that they have "lent" her the dance partner: "Thank you a lot for the gentleman. My first Romanian love".
After What's
A Matter You People Maite, dubbed
"Fireball" by Jimmy, comes again in the front of the stage for I Wanna Be Loved. But before
the first chords she tells us why the travel from airport to Brasov was special: "I must say that today it was a great experience to drive
from airport to here. I never saw in my whole life carriages with horses." The audience starts laughing and then Maite goes on: "And I must say that I wanted to step out from the big fat Mercedes
and have some fun. The big fat Mercedes it was nice but it wasn't fun and so I must say, I
hope that the next time I'll come you don't loose your horses. I love you and your
horses". Everybody claps and
laughs. The song is dedicated to the audience. Maite sings this song with her whole heart
and in the final part of the song Paddy sings alone "I, I, wanna be...".
A young couple who was in front of me started to kiss each other! :))))) What an effect!
Hardly started So Many Things when Maite takes off her shoes (again!!!). While she is singing she runs from the left part of the stage to the right one, runs down from the stage near the fans and..... jumps into the artesian well. She goes on with singing while walking through the water. She is wet almost till the neck. She asks the people from the first row if they want water too and start throwing with water over the poor people. :) After this she asks Spiro to "Help me out" and with the same energy runs back on the stage. She takes one blouse off (she has two blouses) and wrings it and then throw it behind, on the stage. After that, at sha-la-la the audience has no chance. First all the boys raise their hands, and then the girls too. Maite starts singing and all girls have to sing with her the sha-la-la part. Then the same with the boys. But "miss teacher" is obviously dissatisfied with the result: "I guess I have water in my ears!!!!!!!!" The audience tries to sing again and this time it is much better. The music class goes on with Paddy's Alien and the O-o-o-o-o-o-o part.
At Love Music And Sun Patricia shakes hands with fans. After this she invites an almost 50 year old woman on the stage. When they (Patricia and the woman) are finally on the stage the song ends, but Paddy starts again with Love music and sun... and Patricia dances with the barefooted woman!!! She must be a Kelly fan!
Angelo's Drum Solo is mixed with The Wolf and the audience (fans or not) are standing with the feet on the chairs and sing, jump and clap with the Family.
At One More Freaking Dollar the people start clapping their hands. Despite of a problem with Paddy's microphone, the song is a great success. Paddy takes his mouth organ and sits down, on the floor, and starts singing. It follows We Will Rock You and the hall totally "exploded". The people sing after Paddy the O-o-o-o-o-o part. This was followed by the unfailing "water figure": Paddy, Joey, Patricia and Maite take water in mouth and at the end of the song they have competed with the artesian well.
It followed Lord Can You Hear My Prayers, and Jimmy says that this is the last song, but it is followed by Take My Hand. Maite sings with Paddy, who is near the fans shaking hands. A fan gives Paddy the Romanian flag on which is written Romania Loves You. Paddy put this flag around his neck till the end of the concert.
When they have finished Take My Hand, they have knelt and bow down to the floor. After this they left the hall. In all hall can be heard only "Kelly! Kelly!" and two of them, Angelo and Paddy have pity and return. They sing together with the people the Kelly-hit I Can't Help Myself.
After the song Angelo thanks to all: "Thank you very much! I hope to see you next year" and Paddy reads some words in Romanian: "Va multimim. Vom incerc :)))) /he was suppose to say "incerca", but anyway he was sweet/ sa mai venim". ("Thank you. We will try to come back")
They leave the stage but the fans keep on calling for the Kellys and Paddy comes back and sings "Brother, Brother". His last words, before leaving the stage, were: "See you next year!"
The media has made a false image to the Kellys during the years. The people from Romania have considered the Kellys a chorus band whose concerts are as in the church: everybody sits down, they don't jump/ sing/ clap, only listen. This recital has lasted around 1,40 and it managed to destroy the old and false Kelly image. People of all ages, Kelly fans or simply people who love music, were standing up during the recital, were clapping and singing together with the Kellys, were jumping and holding their hands. Iris' fans, who first refused to cooperate with the Kellys, were singing in the end even louder then some Kelly fans. The concert was a great success. Fans were on the streets, fans were even of the roof of one building, everywhere were people who sang and clapped hands. After the Kelly concert I saw many persons leaving the hall even if, after Kellys, Iris were to be on the stage. This means that some persons came only for the Kelly Family.
Kelly Family conquers not only Brasov but all Romania, and if there is gonna be one or two concerts in future, all Romanians will surely listen only Kelly music.
Romanians learnt what Kelly spirit is. Everywhere where you were looking (on the roof :))))))), on the streets, in the hall, on the windows of the buildings around) people were singing and clapping along with Kellys.
