TEENS MAG 1999

TEENS : What's been your most memorable Christmas so far?

Roger : Mine was a few years ago, went to Canada to go skiing over Christmas and it was really , really nice . And on Christmas morning when we woke up , there was snow everywhere and we opened up our presents and then put on our ski clothes and went skiing.

Lee : Christmas in the recent years have just been fairly bland. I think my best christmasses were when I was younger, when I still believed in Father Christmas and I couldn't sleepon Christmas eve and all that. Recently, it's just been what to buy people. And it's just always such a rush that when it finally comes , you don't enjoy it as much.

Neil : When I was about 14 or 15 , I got this brand new bike , a rally arena. Basically my mom & dad knew I really wanted it and they kept it secret from me. I woke up one Christmas morning, thinking that they hadn't got me the bike and it was there, with a little bow around it. And it was memorable because I rode on it and I fell off itand cut myself. Mom & dad weren't too happy with me.

Phil : Last year was really special cos' it was mine and my girlfriend's first Christmas together. It was the first time I've ever been with anybody at Christmas and it was nice to be with someone special.

TEENS : And what's the best Christmas present you've ever received?

Roger : My millennium falcon. You know, the big spaceship from Star Wars? I was about seven and I had all the Star Wars figures because I used to collect them and I so desperately wanted to get the millennium falcon. And I remember thr year I got that, it was like the coolest thing. I've still got it now. I've lost some of the figures ansd some of the things that come with them, but the millennium falcon is still in mint condition.

Lee : I think mine was probably my first set of skis, cos I was really excited about that. I used to just borrow or hire them, but when I got my first set of skis...I was probablyabout 14. I was dead chuffed

Neil : I just remember Christmas being really wicked when I was younger, when you get all the presents and stuff like that. I'm a big fan of tottenham hotspur football team and one year I got the football kit, tracksuit, football boots ,everything. And that was brilliant.

Phil : Mine was the present I got when I was 10 years old . I still thought Father Christmas existed , so it made a big difference. I really wanted a racing bike and my mom would say no, you can't have one yet, you have to wait until you get older. She really convinced me that I won't be able to get one . I opened all my presents and I got a kind of 'main' gift and I thought that was it. Then they said 'Oh , Father Christmas left you something else and it's behind the curtains.' The last thing I expected was the racer and when I saw the bike , I was real happy.

TEENS : What about the worst gifts?

Lee : When you're a kid, the worst presentto get ever is clothes . Jumpers, trousers , T-shirts , jackets, socks-if you're up till the age of about eight , if it's clothing, it's crap. I want action , man! When you're young , you're just not into clothes, you could wear a bin linerall day and you wouldn't care.

Roger : (nodding) Yeah , I'll go along with that.

Neil : NoI think gift vouchers are the worst.

Phil : When I was younger, it was slippers . Actually , right now , I do need a pair of slippers . But when I was like eight or nine, I never used to wear them. And they normally come in like a big box, so you think'oh right , it's a big box'. Then you open up the box and you see this pair of slippers and you're like 'I don't wear these'!

TEENS : If you could get someone a christmas present from Singapore, What would it be?

Phil : A durian!

Roger : King of fruits , man! (laughs)

Neil : (seriously) You can really get some good value on facial products. (the rest laugh)Seriously, they're much cheaper in Singapore. Like Neutrogena . But I wouldn't , cos' thats not very nice.

Roger : If I had lots and lots of money, I'd buy the Ritz Carlton. I would buy the hotel and I would give it to my mum. My mum would run the hotel, yeah. (looks pleased)

Lee : On Roger's tip, If I have lots and lots of money, I would buy the National Stadium for myself and have my own private football games in it.
