EX++ S-VHS Master, LDM Laserdisc Master, VTM videotape master, DSSM

EX+ Cable Master, most 1st/2nd gens, VTC/LDC (copy from masters)

EX most 3-4 gens but still excellent, possible occasional dropout

EX- looks and sounds really good but has possible flaws.

VG+ 4th gen or more but still a very good picture/sound, a few faults

VG unknown generation decent picture/sound, prob will have dropouts

VG- still watchable but will have problems, for the diehard collector
