The 1970's

My first band was in Hopedale when I had my acoustic guitar. I think we called it Chimes of Freedom. This is the first year of the Beatles, 1964. We played together for a few years in Hopedale with John Alden and Tony Niro, playing guitars and pretending we were the Beatles. We'd sing Dylan songs and Byrds songs and one time we actually played at a party and sang in the corner, which was pretty amazing the first time, very nerve-wracking to play in public, and it wasn't very good. John Alden was a big Dave Clark Five fan because he played drums; he got us tickets to see Dave Clark at the Boston Arena. It was one of those Caravan of Stars shows with Gene Pitney and other people I forget. Everyone got twenty minutes, the first big concert I ever went to. - Walk This Way, page 61
