NEW SONG SIGNALS CHANGE IN THE WEATHER!

August 2004

TOBY – LET IT RAIN
Having completed his Journey Beyond The Sun with encouraging results and bright prospects ahead, Maltese DJ/producer Toby has once again turned to the natural elements for inspiration for his latest single, Let It Rain. The song, a flowing slab of uplifting trance that forges ahead on the strength of a catchy melodic backbone and a delightful female voice, comes in three formats, namely the original radio edit (released for general airplay); a club mix and a special chillout edit. The latter two are genres that complement Toby’s sonic ventures beyond the mainstream, and have proved to be valuable assets, especially when Toby received a new request from EMI UK.

Following the inclusion of two of Toby’s songs on their Club Euphoria compilation, EMI UK wanted a new dance track and a new chillout track for 2 separate new releases that will be coming out later this year. With Let It Rain, Toby managed to meet the label’s requirements on both counts. Being quite a chillout addict himself, Toby is also planning to release an entire album of chilled grooves, and he sees the challenge as a boost to sustain both his versatility and motivation. The album is a work-in-progress, as he also currently also spending a lot of time experimenting with his new studio equipment.

Experimenting, in this case also applies to his remix projects. Toby is as focused on remixes as he is on his own original material. He is currently working on several remix projects, including one for Ira Losco, one for Tangerine Dream and a third for Jon Lukas – and there’s another remix for a big name artist (all hush hush as yet!) just waiting for the final go-ahead! In the meantime, remixes apart, Toby has been hectic in every way you can imagine – writing new dance material, presenting his top-rated midweek radio show Wall Of Sound on 89.7 Bay, his DJ residency at Qube and several other gigs lined up all over the place.
