METAL IN MIND!
June 2005
Spin release
new EP
Formed
back in 1999 as a duo, local metallers Spin have morphed into a
promising four-piece over the years, via a self-produced EP (Pead); an
impressive album recorded at Temple Studios with David Vella (Cell 46),
several significiant live performances and a few line-up changes that
have seen the band embrace a more industrial vein as their core element.
To give you an idea of Spin’s environment, Cell 46 was described by
leading Canadian metal magazine Brave Words & Bloody Knuckles as
“sonically intense” and “full of adrenaline guaranteed to unleash the
fury”. Two tracks off the album were awarded the ‘Track of the Day’ slot
by indie music website
www.garageband.com
and the title track was also included on a BW&BK compilation alongside
leading metallers Lamb Of God, Vital Remains and The Kovenant.
With all this positive response to back them up, Spin once again booked
themselves into Temple Studios, the result of which is a brand new
four-track EP that sees the band take the (already) hardcore metal slant
of Cell 46 into a tighter, more complex mesh of crushing riffs, pounding
rhythms, electronic samples and grating vocals. Certainly not music to
chill out to, Spin’s latest, particularly the abrasively direct Feed
Your Mind, captures the energy of fellow Maltese prime pummellers
Beheaded but with a mighty electronic spark to boot!
