Music to soothe
your mind!
As the title
implies, Resting Fields is a collection of compositions inspired by a
meditative ambience. This is all the more understandable considering
that all (but one of) the tracks here were originally written as
background music for an exhibition of Calleja’s artwork. The newer
track, Old Temple Street was written later, and dedicated to the memory
of the late PC Mark Farrugia.
Nestling somewhere between cinematic and new age, Calleja’s accent
remains firmly rooted within a relaxing environment, the music never
venturing far from its chilled setting. Within all of this however, the
composer maintains an expansive musical vision, pushing different
instruments to the fore of each individual track, and giving the album a
gentle movement even where the essence may reflect stillness in time.
The six songs featured on Resting Fields characterize diverse emotions –
simplicity glistening at their core, seeking only to enhance the air of
tranquility that oozes from every note of every track here.
Proceeds from the sale of this CD will go to the Foundation of Respite
Care Services (Dar il-Kaptan), which offers support to persons with a
disability.
