PLUR is a principle within rave culture. Sure, it's all about the music, but the environment is also a part of the scene. And Peace, Love, Unity, and Respect are the 4 pillars of the rave community... So for all of you who are wondering: * P is for Peace: No one can deny the sense of peace that everyone feels at a party; peace with yourself and peace with others. Everyone is so easygoing and laidback! At a rave, you never see the inevitable fight (or two!) that break out by the middle of the party. At a regular party, with that many people in one place at one time, there are always arguments as well as physical fights. Come on, tell the truth. When was the last time you saw two ravers throwing punches at eachother, mid-party? My guess is never! Everyone is hugging and happy with eachother. If someone bumps into you, you get an, "Oh, excuse me, I'm sorry," instead of a "Get the hell outta my way!" It's as simple as that.... * L is for Love: Love for yourself and your fellow ravers is evident at every party. Most people don't think twice about giving a total stranger a hug. Your best friends are all there together and everyone is so open and honest and totally appreciative of all the people there. *U is for Unity Unity and togetherness is what it's all about. Regardless of your age, sex, color, or beliefs, you all have something in common. You're all experiencing the same party - the musis is there, linking you all together. Group hugs are common and it's no odd thing to see huge clumps of people standing together and chatting freely only to find out they were total strangers before the night. A common bond forms between everyone; there are no walls put up. No fences are built and lines of communicatino flow freely *R is for Respect Let's face it, with peace, love, and unity, there must be respect. If you're united in harmony with other people who you love, then you're going to repect them. Everyone treats everyone equally, and how they want to be treated. Everyone is free to have their own thoughts and no one judges them on their beliefs. Treat people how you would like to be treated, and things can't help but run smooothly. Respect means not laughing at how others dance or what they are wearing! Some people have also added another R to PLUR. The last R stands for Responsibility - something that many ravers have forgotten. It seems that a lot of people have gone overboard with drugs lately. It's about the music, not the drugs! If you can't have fun at a rave without drugs, then you shouldn't bother coming! If you simply MUST do drugs, be responsible about it. Be careful what you take and how much of it.
