I sent my cousin Luke some questions via email about his band Koehl’s Law (formerly Wannabe Carter) and here are his responses. After reading this go visit their site and show your support!

Phantasm- How and why was your band formed?

Luke- We are all into jazz and perform a lot at school, and we all have a strong jazz influence, so we decided to make a different style of music, something that people can enjoy.

P- Who are the members of your band and what do they play?

L- Luke Difilipo= Keyboards Jeff Guard= Sax Mike Koehl= Drums and percussion George Peters= Vocals Gerry Leonetti= Bass

P- What band can you relate to most?

L- Dave Matthews band, and any other fusion band out there

P- Where have you played before?

L- We just formed so nothing yet, but have stuff coming in the next month or 2.

P- Have you guys ever gotten in a fight?

L- Nope, we have a good unity, that’s how we can do what we do best, we all know each other well, so its almost like a family outside of a family.

P-Do you write your own music?

L- Yep, but we do some covers too.

P- What bands/who inspired you and your band as a whole?

L- Dave Matthews Band, The Secrets, Jamiroquai, Ben Folds Five.

P-Are you planning on making a demo tape?

L- Yes, we’re working on one to be recorded in the next three months.

P-How would you describe your band’s music?

L- We are a very versitle band. Mainly, we’re very jam oriented lots of times we will pick a few chords and make something up on the spot, we sound a lot like Dave Matthews Band, same kinda jams. Our singer is the only difference, he’s our twist. He will rap or freestyle to the traditional R&B style, but to a backing rock band, the combination makes our sound very unique.
